“Our experience”

Traveling to Greece has always been on my bucket list. My husband and I went to Santorini and stayed at the Suites of the Gods Spa and Hotel. The staff were outstanding! They were helpful, accomodating, and eager to please. We felt like we were their top priorty. The Hotel itself was fantastic. The views splended. Our room, the Presidential Suite, was top of the line. We absolutely loved every aspect. The resturant was not open because it was off season, they went and got our order for our evening meal on our first night. Our last night, they drove us to the resturant owners other resturant. It was lovely and the food was delicious! Anything we needed they provided. We can't say enough good things about hotel, spa, and especially the staff. Eva and Ugina two thumbs up from us!!! Thank you for a lovely vacation. We would come back again and again!

The exterior of this brightly decorated place is striking in the context of its surroundings. We didn't stay there, but made use of their spa area as an attraction. It feels like a very deep dungeon you descend and descend into becoming more dingy as you go. The walkways smell rather unpleasant - a feeling that the area is very 'used'.

This put me off slightly but then the actual spa we were given was segregated off to the point of extreme privacy - which we eventually kind of took advantage of. If we weren't told this was a Spa, we'd have thought it a 'different' place altogether via it's presentation. We got the distinct feeling staff actively turn a blind eye or even silently encourage that type of relaxation for you.

The spa consisted of two loungers with a large heated pool and a button at the side of the pool which when pressed outputs a very heavy fountain effect of water out the top of the wall for about 30 seconds at a time - its a lot of fun but we decided only one half hour session was cost effective to us.

Last summer I spent 2 weeks for my holidays at suites of the gods cave spa hotel.
Upon arrival the hotel manager Eugenia, walked out from her office, which was next to the front desk, to welcome us and to let us know that in case of any inconvenience she would be more than happy to help us out.
We stayed in room 102 which was a maisonette, had a small lovely living room downstairs and a bedroom at the upper floor offering a marvelous view of the Caldera and the volcano directly from our king size bed.
The swimming pool was right outside our room and had pretty relaxing sunbeds with the same views we had from our room.
The room facilities were exactly what we needed, half hour after we got in our room, wine with some fruits arrived..
You don’t need to buy a travel guide as the information you get regarding things to do and bars, restaurants and beaches from the hotel staff is more than enough.
The owner of the hotel also, is the owner of a beach bar; I think Demilmar is the name of it.
It’s situated in Perissa area, no many places to sick for nice beaches and this one was a really good one!
We had free transfer from the hotel to this place and back, every day and wine offered to us at Demilmar. Nice music, great food (also at the restaurant of the hotel), beautiful and really friendly people.
We would highly suggest this hotel for your summer vacation.
P.s. try also to have a massage the therapists are very goooood

Room Tip: any type of room you choose you have the same superb views!!!

Suites of the Gods is hands down the best hotel experience I have ever had... I came here with my fiancee and stayed 4 nights. From the moment we arrived we were treated exceptionally well by all members of the staff. They happily organized all of dinners, cruises with the Catamaran which are fantastic, and anything else we needed. The reception staff were extremely helpful and always more than happy to lend a hand. Breakfast every morning was delicious and the waiters Chris and Akis were very attentive . We also had dinner at the restaurant that is part of the hotel and it was one of the best, if not the best, meals I had on my entire trip throughout Greece. The hotel itself is gorgeous. The location is perfect and our room had an amazing view of the caldera and the town of Fira. We also had got a massage at the spa during our stay and it was a fantastic experience. Please note that the hotel offers twice the day free transfer to the beach and the owner also has an amazing restaurant near by the sea. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling to Santorini. I definitely hope to return to Suites of the Gods one day.

We went sumer 2012

We arrived at the suites of the gods in the evening and were greeted with a melon medley and half a carafe of wine. This was a very pleasant surprise and greatly appreciated. We were situated on the lower level of the hotel farthest from reception.
On arrival we were informed by the young man on reception that we had no phone in our room but the engineer would be there first thing in the morning. On seeing our Thomson’s representative we were asked if everything was ok with our room and expecting the hotel to sort out the issue regarding the phone as they had promised they would we said so far everything was fine. The second day we asked about the phone they were waiting on the engineer. The third day we checked regarding our phone we were informed that they didn’t know what was happening and that they would speak to the day staff and let us know. Nobody came to let us know what was happening regarding the phone.

The fourth day we were again informed that we were waiting on the engineer and it would be no later than the next two days that we would have a phone.

By the 7th day, after having no phone and being situated at the far end of the hotel. We decided that there was no alternative but to contact our Thomson’s Representative Ellie . Ellie was very helpful and spoke to the receptionist at the hotel who informed Ellie that we would get bleepers. So Ellie left satisfied that this would happen. Three days later and ten days into our holiday a phone appeared in our room. We never got the bleepers which would not have being appropriate or practical anyway ! With no apology from the management for the inconvenience of staying in a 4star hotel with no room service.

During the period with no phone we made several trips to reception for an iron, drinks and bathmats .Where we were graciously asked to return it when we had finished . complete joke !

Being conscientious I also went to reception to ask for a bathmat as the bathroom would flood when taking a shower or a bath. (So as not to cause any further damage to the room). I was kindly informed by the young man that he would have one sent to our room.

When my partner made the same trip to reception for the iron again! They asked if he had received his bathmat. To which he replied no. They apologised and said they had sent it to 302 not 303. And could he take it. We asked 302 if they had received an extra bath mat that evening to which they replied they hadn’t . Maybe it went to another room or maybe they just couldn’t be bothered with the long walk that they seemed happy for us to take to get to reception to get anything we required. A totally humiliating experience. Of being lied to yet again by the reception staff.

They did offer to change our room but that would be next to the woman with the kids. A pointless gesture. The hotel was empty one day mid week they could have easily have changed our room to something more suitable and of four star standard. THE HOTEL IS NOT ADULT ONLY AS IT STATES. In the brochure.

Felt like a Santorini donkey!

The rooms do not have mini bars as is stated in the Thomson’s brochure. Or radios our tv hd three channels and no volume

The towel rail falls off the wall as did the hooks for our robes.

The pool bar was never open , not that you could use the top pool as there were swarms of wasps around the pool all the time that we were staying there. When we mentioned the suicide wasp bombers that frequented the pool every day they did nothing about it until again I mentioned it to the Thomson rep.

There is another plunge infinity pool that is amazing. Unfortunately for 12 of our 14 days at the hotel this was reserved for a friend of the manager who ws staying there six weeks And the waiter put reserve signs on the beds at 7 am for them and their children. Though hotel policy states you can’t reserve beds. Unless you knew the manager personally. So the rests of the guests had to sweat it out or use th shower. Which ran out of water.

When we complained we could not use the top pool to our rep who spoke to the hotel . They then decided to put several beds around the plunge pool which can only be seen as a complete disaster as it was blocking access to rooms below. And left the hotel managers friends screaming and shouting around the resort as they paid extra to have exclusive use of this pool.

The manager did send his apologies to us through a text sent by Ellie . But we never saw any management in the hotel. The hotel lacks direction and leadership and has a severe lack of visual management who actually have any direct authority to do anything. It needs a hotel manager not just a Spa Manager.

The management did not seem to care about English clientele once they were in the resort.

In a nutshell

1. No phone for ten days (This is not 4 star)

2. Lack of service from reception staff ( who repeatedly lied about what they were doing to your face repeatedly. Think they thought you were stupid).

3. In equality as to how different guests were treated I did tell Ellie I felt like a second class citizen in the hotel.

4. No pool to use as one reserved and one unusable due to wasps.

5. Sold as an adult only hotel which was more like a crèche
6. Complete lack of any hotel management

Are the main complaints.

Ultimately this is not a four star resort. As beautiful as the views are, we could have got somewhere of the same standard if not better for less money and with the use of a pool and without wasps or children.

We could say there were some plus points the food was great although breakfast was not restocked after 9.30, and the bar staff service was very professional. And my Spa experience was wonderful. But all of this was spoiled by the other matters listed above. The road and port were no problem at all...

We feel that the holiday was miss sold and is not what it states in the brochure. This hotel does not offer 4 star service as it suggests

By the end of my holiday I hated the hotel and couldn’t wait to leave. I hated coming back to the hotel on an evening because of everything listed above and our requests falling on daf ears

I will not return in hurry.

May i suggest you do 2 nights here and use the Spa, and then you don’t notice all the little idiosyncrasies. then run for your life down to Kamari which has a beautiful beach and lovely hotels near all amenities .

Room Tip: Dont get put on the lower floor thats where they sove all the english !

This is a hotel with special architecture and a breathtaking view not far away from Fira. The service was very good, the staff was very polite and helpful and the transfer from and to the hotel was arranged by the hotel and it was for free. The room was big, clean and in a traditional style. The central swimming pool was clean and you could see the volcano. The breakfast was satisfactory and the location of the dinning room perfect. This hotel is also ideal for honeymoon. They also offered a late check out with no extra charge. It really worths a visit.

We stayed at Suites of the Gods for two weeks and were married at the hotel. When we first got there we were put in the lowest level rooms at the bottom. I complained that the air was a little stale (see below) and we were immediately upgraded to the best room at the top of the hotel since we were due to be married. This room was fantastic, 10/10 and we were not charged anything for this. (I would point out that it was early season and the hotel was not full so we were very lucky). The views and hotel setting is near perfect. Only comment is that it is a little away from everywhere else but a short taxi or bus ride is easy to arrange. If you plan on staying in the hotel then it's perfect. Our small wedding went very well and the hotel helped with all of the arrangements. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and very helpful. This really helped make the stay very enjoyable.

Why only 4 stars? There were a couple of minor niggles, a trip was arranged that didn't work - they didn't allow enough time to get into town so when the taxi arrived we missed our trip. When we were married there was another wedding booked for the same time which we weren't told about. It actually rained (very unusual!) slightly on the evening so we had to move from our table to join the other wedding party inside. We had thought we would have had the whole restaurant to ourselves when booking. It just felt a little odd having two brides in a small room! I also think I would have been a little disappointed with the price if we had stayed in the lower rooms.

Overall though, perfect views, excellent staff and a very enjoyable stay. Thankyou!
Note we stayed May 2011 and not 2011 (late review!)

Room Tip: The hotel is carved into the hillside and so many rooms are essentially "underground". Con...
