“Peaceful. Private. Perfect.”
Reviewed June 17, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

One enters the villa under a fragrant arch of tangled jasmine and bougainvillea.... The private courtyard and well-restored home transport you to another time. The courtyard and private pool are more breathtaking than even the photos or videos online suggest! The village of Megalochori is beautiful, low key and uncluttered. We enjoyed the simplicity of it all, but were grateful for the included rental car that enabled us to explore beaches, the famous sunset views, and archaelogical sites (Akrotiri and a hike to ancient Thira). Now that we are home we miss the village of Megalochori! Truly within short walking distance from Mansion Sophia there are wonderful small restaurants (Raki, Feggaro, etc), a mini market, some charming shops (loved meeting the leather worker in town), a world class family owned winery (Gavalas), and a warm and welcoming bakery with great coffee and delicious treats to be discovered. The Villa is managed with five star amenities such as a wonderful concierge named Jackie who arranges daily housekeeping, airport transfers, excursions and troubleshoots questions. It is tough to envision a more perfect set up for a vacation experience on Santorini or anywhere else in the world!

Tips to consider before booking: most cars are manual so if you only drive automatic you may want to request in advance. Also, understand that the smaller bedroom does not have its own bathroom and guests staying in it must cross thru either the master bedroom or outdoor courtyard to access it and hot water is adequate but not unlimited. This is the trade-off for living in the traditional village of Megalachori! 5 star experience overall!!

“Gorgeous home in perfect location”
Reviewed June 16, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We had an amazing time at Mansion Sophia and cannot wait to come back and stay again. The little village of Megalochori was picture perfect and exactly what we were looking for in an off-the-beaten-path, authentic experience. There were several great restaurants just a stone's throw from the house and there was a great bakery just a short and scenic walk through the old village. Every person we met was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome immediately. The house itself was fantastic, it had the charm and history to lend to its authenticity, but was very comfortable with all the conveniences of modern amenities like a washing machine, microwave and espresso maker. Thank you!!

“Fabulous Stay!”
Reviewed June 10, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We had a fabulous week in Mansion Sophia. The Location is perfect. The Villa is perfect. The village was ideal - including several good cafes/restaurants. Very easy to get to any where else in the island - especially using the complimentary car!

Special thanks to Jackie for helping sort our list luggage issue on the first day!

“This was a magical experience”
Reviewed April 13, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We could not have been happier with our stay at Mansion Sophia. From the greeter at the airport to the luggage handler, to the concierge and the maid, everyone was friendly and helpful. The property is absolutely beautiful. The large living room is bright and inviting and the bedrooms on either side are roomy and elegantly furnished. The beds are comfortable and a cozy comforter was just the ticket for the cool nights. Even plush robes and slippers are provided.
With the rental car that was included as part of our stay, we explored many of the villages of Santorini and enjoyed them all but were more convinced than ever that none could top Megalohori. It is a traditional village with narrow streets (cars can travel on only a few), which adds to the charm. The villagers are friendly and we happened to be there the days leading up to Palm Sunday so we were able to participate in the ceremony that included decorating an enormous cross and watching with the whole village as the men used ropes and pulleys to raise it in the town square. Afterward everyone lined up for dinner provided by our favorite restaurant, located on the square. We also attended a service in the church and weren't allowed to leave without taking home bread and chocolate.
At day's end, after exploring other villages, we had drinks by the pool and walked to one of the many good restaurants. One night we made dinner in the nicely equipped kitchen and ate outside in one of the two lovely courtyards. The owner, Takis, even provides a complimentary bottle of wine for guests.
Staying at Mansion Sophia is everything you dream of when imagining visiting the iconic island of Santorini. I can't recommend it highly enough.

“Lovely Mansion + Pool + Garden Dining Room”
Reviewed October 24, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

If you are looking for a great, big, stone mansion for a group of friends/family in a quaint little town, look no further. There is tremendous indoor and outdoor space, the master bedroom and the rooftop view are simply gorgeous. The town is so cute, very easy to walk and it has 5 very yummy restaurants within a minute's walk. Stock up on wine and snacks at the local market, enjoy the skyline views and don't forget to meet Takis the owner...he's the man!

“Slice of heaven”
Reviewed July 29, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

My daughters ( 15/16) and I cannot say enough about this wonderful place.

The charming two bedroom villa is located in the charming town of Megalochori

As you enter through the little black door off the quiet winding street, just off the town square, it actually took our breath away .

There was a hammock, pool, fountain, chaise lounges- the villa has fab original detail , high arched ceilings, shutters and exposed brick. There are super nice linens, two comfortable beds( double and king) a spacious living room and kitchenette- there is not only the private courtyard pool but a side garden for outside dining

I am so glad we did stay in this lovely town away from the madness of Fira ( only a 15 min drive)

The staff was super responsive before and during our stay

You MUST stay here !

“Beautiful villa in an idyllic setting, away from the crowds”
Reviewed May 4, 2016 for a stay in September 2015

My wife and I had a wonderful stay in Santorini and staying in Mansion Sophia really made it special. Even though we spent most of our time relaxing in the villa, we managed to venture to a few places around the island. Santorini Heritage provide a free mobile app that was really useful to decide what to do, where to go and how to get there, and Jackie was also very helpful in finding activities and our way around. We found the villa really beautiful and the amenities were very good. I enjoy cooking myself so it was great to have a good kitchen and barbecue. Inclusive wifi and movie library was also a great added bonus!
