Owner description: Boutari is one of the most awarded and most historical companies of quality wine making in Greece. It was established in 1879 in Naoussa. Boutari winery Santorini was the first winery on the island to offer tours, tastings and art programs since 1990. Its dazzling white dome was voted as one of the 10 architectural wine wonders of the world. Santorini is a magical place for making wine. Our goal is to share with you our passion for top quality winemaking. We are open every day from 10:00 – 19:00 for wine-tastings, lunch and wine-shopping. We offer everyday 5 different Food and Wine experiences. It will be our pleasure to welcome you at our winery!

This is a great place for a visit and to sample some great local wines but before the tastings make sure you do the short winery tour and learn about the local processes and the interesting way the vine grows on the ground due to the winds, then you get to do some tastings but there is a small cost involved. Lots of free parking or you can do a guided tour of all the wineries on the island.

Enjoy

We enjoyed our visit for a glass of wine but we're disappointed that you cannot have a wine tasting unless you go on the winery tour. It's 15 euro for the tasting and tour.

We were intrigued by the circular vines growing around the apartment we were staying in, so wandered down the road to the award winning Boutari winery. They explained it was to protect the grapes from the strong winds, along with lot's of other details, and we tried some wine while there. They charge for tastings, which seems a little foreign for Australians, but we know it's often the American and European way, but ok with it as there are no crowds and they really take their time with you. The wines were delicious, and prices are incredibly reasonable. Bought some reds and rose ranging from 10-26euro, which felt like half the price I would expect to pay for equaly quality back home.
Highly reccomended

The wine tasting and tapas was excellent, and the staff could not have been more helpful. The vineyard near the cellars was small but displayed the low vines very well.

We booked the semi-private wine tour at Boutari only (didn't want the wine tour that includes 3 or 4 wineries, since we were not very familiar with wine tasting and all). We arrived 15 minutes prior to the tour and were greeted and offered some water, while waiting for another couple for the tour. Turned out the couple did not show up and it became a private tour. How nice! Effie the guide was very friendly and informative about the wines and the production of wine in Santorini. Out of 8 glasses of wine, some were mediocre, some were excellent, and their vinsanto is the best out of all!!! Overall it was a memorable visit and one of the highlights of our trip in Santorini :)
