“WE NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE AND CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN”

We recently traveled to Crete,Greece for a wedding of a family member. We stayed at Natalia's where we were instantly welcomed like family by the Lurakis family. Their warmth, generosity and hospitality were unsurpassed. The beauty and comfort of our villa felt like home away from home. The mountain scenery from our balcony was amazing. After freshing up we were treated to a traditional Cretan meal by our warm and wonderful host Vasso. We can't tell how much we miss that food,I try to recreate it but it just not the same. The following night Vasso hosted a village party for the Bride and Groom to be. Everyone from the village was invited and everyone came. The music ,the food, the drink, the celebration is one we will always remember. The wedding was amazing,Vasso preformed the ceremony, and did a great job I might add. Crete has to be the best place on earth to get married the beauty of the island mixed with the beauty of the ceremony was the best ever.I consider Vasso a lifelong friend and will recommend her House to everyone I know,it is truly that wonderful. I can't wait to return! Love you all and miss you more! XXOO

Natalia's Houses are a beautiful place to retreat to in Crete, set in the idyllic and quiet village of Douliana. The house we stayed in (two bedroom) was spacious and had everything we could possibly need. Our host, Vasso, was so warm, attentive and helpful. You couldn't have a better host in fact. The village was a lovely place to wander and was very peaceful and quiet and yet it was a short drive to neighbouring villages and beaches. I would definitely recommend Natalia's Houses to anyone visiting Crete.

I almost regret writing the lovely words that I will write as I never want to be unable to stay here for lack of room - this is a special place on the planet- the light, the location, the handcrafted rooms, the unbelievably kind and generous owners... take a walk with Vasso and come back with your pockets full of lemons, pomegranates olives, carob, and then go into your kitchen and make some wonderful little meal. i want to come back again and again

If you want a quiet rural location that's convenient for the beach (2km away) and for the main cities (Chania 30 minutes, Reymethion 1hr 15mins & Heraklion 1hr 45mins), with excellent hospitality, pool, with superb restaurant next door, wonderful countryside, interesting local villages then this is the place for you.

We did an extensive search and this property & holiday stood out above the rest and we were not disappointed. Vasso, our hostess was most welcoming and kind. We took the B&B option and had a great start to each day with a big breakfast.

We can thoroughly recommend this property it's hostess and location for a great holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

We spent two weeks at this lovely place during April and enjoyed every minute of it.
The apartment (Lydia) was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. It was beautifully clean and decorated in a traditional style.
My children took advantage of the pool and enjoyed it very much.
The village setting is quiet and pretty, and the surrounding country views are wonderful.Good country for walking and I believe there is also a cycle route.
Kalives is the nearest beach, about 10 minutes away by car and the village has all the usual amenities. From a supermarket to internet cafes.Other beaches are only a little further.
It is a good base to explore the western end of the island.Chania is about 30 mins away and well worth a visit. We also drove into the mountains to visit St Sophia cave and came back along the west coast.Driving on the mountain roads can be a challenge but the countryside is spectacular and well worth the effort.
If you like ruins/history,Aptera is interesting and not far.It also has stunning views of the mountains.
The hostess,Vassos, goes out of her way to make visitors feel welcome.Nothing is too much trouble and she will try to provide any thing you require.

Having been come back a week ago we are still at this charming and peasful place in our dreamings - Natalia's Houses. Placed in the small picturesque village it is just 30 minutes from Chania with its beautiful Old Town and 10-15 minutes from sandy Almirida and Kalyves beaches.
The houses are built in traditional cosy way, the hosts do theire best to satisfy you, the terrace allows to observe surroundings, the pool with refreshing water - what else could be wished!
The hostess Vasso is a pattern of a hospitality (thanks a lot for your wonderful orange marmelade and olive oil!).
I wish we could see this place again!

We spent an amazing week with our mother and aunt at this incredible family run rural accommodation in a small village in western Crete not far from Chania (30 minutes from the Chania airport by taxi). With the impressive, snow covered White Mountains in the distance overlooking the quaint village of Douliana, we felt like we had arrived in a piece of heaven. Vasso and Andreas, the hosts and owners of the four "houses" that comprise Natalia's Houses, not only made us feel welcome, but truly part of their family throughout our entire week long stay. Fresh vegetables and fruit along with Vasso's delicious homemade marmalade, eggs and olive oil from their own olive trees greeted us for our first day's breakfast.

The view from Natalia's Houses is stunning and since the road to the village is too narrow for large buses, it is quiet and peaceful. The few tourists who find their way to the village seem to blend in. Every morning village residents would take their sheep and goats with their bells to the fields surrounding the village. It is easy to walk around Douliana and take in the fresh air, sights, sounds and scenery.

Our two bedroom house called Lydia was immaculate and spacious for four people. In addition to the bedrooms, there is a living room with a fireplace, dining area, kitchen and two outdoor patios. The one faces the White Mountains and where we spent most of our time while resting after a busy day. Less than a minute walk from our door is a nice pool and area to relax adjacent to the outdoor kitchen that serves the family and is a place for quests to order drinks etc. Vasso and Andreas pride themselves in the beautiful flowers and other plants that can be found throughout Natalia's.

Although daily breakfast is not provided as part of one's stay, the kitchen facilities in our unit enabled us to prepare as many meals as we wished. Vasso is happy to prepare meals for her guests if requested. Vasso has a small store on the premises so we could stock up on the basics. Having a car is essential unless one wishes to spend their whole time in the village. Chania and other beach towns are not far where there are supermarkets to purchase food and other goods as needed as well as wonderful sights to see. In addition to a traditional Greek cafe, the village of Douliana has two tavernas, one literally beside Natalia's. The food at both was excellent and the one on the other side of the village is a traditional outdoor taverna with more traditional Cretan food.

We cannot say enough about our time at Natalia's. Not only was the accommodation top notch, the village and scenery peaceful and spectacular, the warmth and generous spirit with which Vasso and Andreas welcomed us was beyond expectation. We made new friends in this special part of Crete. It was truly a memorable week and we plan to return as soon as we can!

Room Tip: Excellent accommodation - clean and spacious with traditional Cretan architecture and ambiance. Roo...
