The choice of restaurant in the Anse Volbert area is rather poor.

This is apart from the Café des Arts one of the only “romantic” dining options in the area.

The setting gets a 10/10.

The service gets a 3/10 – Sullen, uninterested and unprofessional girl who served us.

The wine gets a 3/10 – We were served ice cold red wine which the rather sullen girl serving didn’t understand that we were not going to except – we changed for white but this didn’t win any prices either.

The food was ok 7/10 but the taste and overall experience was rather ruined by the sullen waitress and the ice cold wine so we didn’t really enjoy the food as much as we should have because this was rather tasty.

We disliked the atmosphere so much we decided to leave it at one course.

Personally I would save up and go to Café des Arts – its probably more expensive but far more worth it,

Contrarly to some other reviews i read, this place was one of the best of Praslin. Very good foos a la carte, table on the sand, nice and friendly staff with a very good service. May be i was lucky and it was not that crowed like in other periods.....

It seems to be that bad critics on service in this restaurant actually worked - the service was impeccable even though the restaurant was pretty busy. The food was great, setting too - actually, a dining experience to remember. Smaller portions would really improve overall experience.

The setting is really great - feet in the sand while you hear the waves rolling.
However, we ordered 3 starters and 3 maincourses. We got 1 starter and about 20 minutes later (after asking several times) we received the other 2 starters.
Over to the main course, we received 2 main courses and the third one we got after about 30 minutes.
When asking for the desert menu - we got told that the chef had left... Admittedly, it was close to 10pm. but still...

The food is good but they need better organization

I can recommend it if you are not too concerned with all eating at the same time and not to picky on the details. The setting makes up for a lot.

But it remains a shame cause this restaurant could be a high flyer if they made some much needed changes in getting themselves organized.

Beautiful restaurant - too bad the food is average and the service is terrible. We were seated at an outside table but after 2 minutes it started to rain so we were moved inside. It was pretty early in the evening so there were maybe 3 or 4 tables with guests so not very busy but it still took them forever to take our order. The food was average at best. The biggest problem was the service. They never came to ask us if everything was ok and never offered us more drinks or desert. So once we were done our plates it took about 20 or 30 minutes to manage to get our server's (or anyone else's) attention and we finally were able to ask for our bill (note that the manager had clearly seen us try to get our server's attention and did nothing). After about another 30 minutes of waiting (and the manager clearly seeing that we were getting impatient but ignoring us) we got up to go to pay at the cash and see what was the hold up. We found 4 people arguing in front of all the customers and the manager just watching this happening a few feet away. They finally told us that they were confused because we switched tables when it rained and had no idea what we had ordered. So instead of asking us they made us wait while they argued about it. Completely ridiculous! And they never apologized although we were clearly not impressed.
