My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights and had a wonderful time. The hotel is gorgeous and is built in such a way that you are always facing the stunning view down to the bay. There is a beautifully appointed deck from which to watch the sea or to take a cooling dip in the pool. The Petra Hotel & Suites has been planned with great attention to detail with little touches that make it very special such as the traditional pourgi (traditional island pastry) they put in your room and the free DVD and CD library. Service is attentive and very gracious. It was difficult to tear ourselves away from the hotel to enjoy the island but we're glad we did. There are wonderful restaurants just down the beach and the towns of Chora and Skala are walkable from the hotel along paths that the pilgrims once took.

A wonderful experience - you won't be disappointed.

My son and I stayed at this delightful hotel: quiet, low-key with a great family feel. Our rooms opened up to the swimming pool, which was often ours for several hours in the day. The highlight was the breakfast: many home-made, delicious pastries, fresh fruit and yoghurt and fresh orange juice, super coffee on a gorgeous terrace overlooking the ocean. Service was always friendly, wonderful...going the extra mile to make us feel completely pampered. A cuppacino at the perfect time at pool. Leftovers at breakfast became surprise sandwiches at lunch. The list goes on...

I still dream of those stunning mornings at the pool...mouthwatering breakfasts...and a whole afternoon reading and watching the peaceful sea. Idyllic.

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite opens onto the pool deck. Has sweet, small balcony too!

We stayed at the Petra Hotel & Suites for 5 nights in September, in the honeymoon suite. It is a beautiful hotel, everything was meticulous and the owners were lovely and so hospitable. The pool and deck were lovely for relaxing, with great views of Grikos beach just down the hill. Best of all were the breakfasts - everything was home cooked, and there were different variations each day. Delicious cheese pies, spinach pastries, home made cakes and croissants, fruit, yoghurt and little breakfast desserts - fabulous!

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite had a little balcony with great views over Grikos.

We stayed here for three nights on our first visit to Patmos (though not to Greece, which we know well). The resort is superb. The small number of rooms are classy and akin to what you would find in a W hotel in the US or an elegant 5 star hotel in London. The breakfasts were remarkably good, with individual variations daily in terms of the healthy or homely options. The location is great, gazing out across a bay with an island and hills around. There are three or four food options in Grikos, and the resort does dinner on selected evenings. We enjoyed a good dinner there. The service was excellent, from the efficient and friendly welcome (as we drove into a parking slot across from the discreet entrance) to thorough room service and attentive but not intrusive service at breakfast.

You probably need a car to properly explore Patmos, which although being a small island has winding roads and not great availability of taxis etc. A car cost us 30 euros a day inclusive, which seemed perfectly reasonable. That allowed us to explore a number of beaches, churches, monasteries and tavernas. Grikos beach is fine, and had a small number of yachts offshore but relatively few people on the beach. The best beach was Psili Ammos, a twenty minute walk across a hilltop path down to a beautiful sandy expanse, and great swimming along with a small taverna for snacks or a drink.

The Petra Hotel was the best part of several weeks touring three islands, and the high point of where we stayed. It is not cheap, but the service and quality more than justifies the price. We will be back.

My friends and I stayed at the Petra Hotel & Suites. A decent enough hotel but we felt incredibly disappointed given the reality to the rates charged.
The hotel looks nothing like the pictures, these are incredibly misleading.
What was most surprising is the reviews on trip advisor. We re-read the "excellent" & "very good" recommendations upon our arrival in dis-belief! Having usually trusted trip advisor reviews and going with the majority vote, we couldn't understand who had written these nor that anyone could describe the hotel as a "boutique" hotel! Rustic-yes, comfortable-yes, cosy & nice- yes, friendly-yes. Boutique- definitely not!
It is the typical narrow-mindedness of the greeks (I am able to say this being a london-greek) that they completely rip-off the customers without thinking longer term. We will never stay at this hotel again & not only will we not recommend it to friends we will be sure to warn them against booking. I think the problem is there are very few decent hotels to stay at in Patmos & hence the owners feel they can charge whatever they want.
However, fashionable Patmos has become as a greek island holiday destination, it is a far cry from Mykonos & hence paying Mykonos hotel prices for below comparable quality seems outrageous.
We frankly felt raped by the end of the stay after having paid 400euros/night/room for 4nights.
200euros/night would have been more than reasonable. It comes down to expectation management & neither the website nor the reviews help manage this.

Room Tip: The standard double room has a nicer bathroom than the honeymoon suite.

My wife and I stayed at Petra for 5 nights during a recent visit to Patmos for a wedding. We saw this hotel last time we were in Greece and really wanted to stay here on our recent trip to Patmos. We very much enjoyed our time at Petra. This is a beautiful boutique hotel in a fantastic location (Grikos). You really get the true luxury experience in Greece here which few hotels offer in Greece. We had a fantastic room with a great view at the top of the hotel overlooking the pool and Grikos beach. The hotel has a nice boutique feel with a hands on approach to all your needs by the owners Petra and Kostas. The finishes and attention to detail were excellent. We were truly impressed with everything. We will definitely be back next time we are in Patmos.

Room Tip: Spend a little more a get a great room high in the hotel which's offers fantastic views

If you like excellent service, private atmosphere, tasty kitchen, the best breakfast on the islands, charming owners like a family you have to stay at Petras Hotel. We came for the second time and it will not be the last time...

A peaceful place with all you need, near from the port, the Kora and the different shops. in a few minutes you will reach many beautiful beaches from Patmos.
The rooms are all well equipped with all luxury you need. You have the impression to be at home.

Room Tip: all the rooms are charming!
