“Very Good Work!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

Nice big comfortable room just in front of the beach. Luxury Renovation with modern tiles and Coco mat beds. Nice atmospheric bathroom with plate shower and standard shower. We had an excellent sleep and the room was so spacious!
I think they should invest a little more in breakfast variety : )

I tend to agree with the 2 previous reviewers. The positioning of the hotel is fine, but I shouldn't go to the expense of paying more for a sea view....the balconies are so small that a view is all you'll get, but plenty of space outside in their cafeteria on the harbour side. The hotel is newly refurbished & smart, as are the rooms, as long as you are into a burnt orange colour scheme! The beds & pillows are very comfortable, thanks to their manufacturer, Cocomat, a leading Greek manufacturer who uses natural products. However, the whole problem with the hotel is the mangement & staff. They are highly understaffed, the most intelligent & friendly in the place being the (other national) cleaner, who had to deal with all the rooms &, as far as I could make out, wash & iron all the bedding. At other times she was left trying to deal with bookings or helping guests with their luggage. Consequently the rooms were quickly tidied up each day, but I think I had only one change of linen in 9 nights. When there are not too many guests you order your breakfast separately & it was quite acceptable, though someone needs to learn how to fry an egg. However, on days when their was a buffet, the bacon & eggs were stone cold. At times you were searching for a member of staff but, as I speak fluent Greek, at least they could understand me. There were lots of mixups over my telephone booking as I think only the cleaner was computer literate! It actually took the owner, who arrives at 11 a.m., about 4 goes on a calculator to work out what I owed, & then, as he made some excuse about the computer, offered to send my receipt by post. I found it cheaper to book directly rather than use a booking engine, & particularly I see they have good offers over the internet until the end of the year. But, all things considered, I would demand adequate documentation of your booking. Astros is a buzzing little village in the summer months, though tends to go dead in the winter. The beach is about 14km long I believe & very clean. Lots of seaside bars offer loungers & umbrellas. Yachters sometime choose to dock here & then take a room for the night, though generally it is a very "Greek" resort. Finally, you have little choice because the other large hotel in the town has folded, so your only option is to find rented rooms. However, if you go bearing in mind all the reservations that us reviewers have about the hotel, I think you will enjoy yourselves!

I have been in this hotel with my sun (11 yr) and I did not feel well because the grief of the lost of my wife recently.

I ask help but the manager was on the telephone and for other 5 minuts did not pay attention. After that she did but does not speak any other language then Greek! and was very difficult to make them understand and of course they just called a Taxi and sent me i a local hospital without any help pr advise.

I left the Hotel the same day, altough I did pay for 2 days and they did not make us any discount. Last but not list the fact when I wanted to pay the bill they say that the credit card machine was over and that they got problems with the bank and because I was ill I did not get mad but I say them that I did not have all the cash with me and that If they were wanting to have cash I pay only one night in stade of two because I have 140 euros in my pocket.

The Visa machine suddenly was perfectly working and I did pay with credit card as for my reservation.

I think this people are cheating the guest because this behaviour is really a shame!
