We stayed here in September of 2016, are the room we were given was a classic double room, it was to say the least very classic indeed, circa 1972 at a guess, the room was quite large with a large balcony on the top floor but very dated. However the toilet developed a leak so we were moved to,a modern room with a panoramic view later in our stay, this was a vast improvement but the room was a little smaller but acceptable.the hotel itself is in a brilliant location ,on the top of a hill with great views, the pool is clean and there are plenty of sun beds around. The food here is very good and the staff extremely polite and efficient. This hotel would be significantly improved by a refurbishment of the older rooms as these are letting the hotel down....ps there is a free bus service to the beaches and skiathos town but you will need to book a seat.

We have just returned home from the most beautiful island EVER, treated ourselves to the skiathos palace hotel as we usually stay in apartments, so we were hoping for an amazing stay... Hmmmm, the hotel is in need of modernisation, you can see they have started I.e, they have painted everything white!? We booked a modern room with sea view, the view was lovely but the bed was awful, I had to remove the plastic stiff mattress protector as it was so creased and lumpy, the air conditioning smelled, and they never cleaned the floors the whole 2 weeks we were there,,
Location of hotel is great however.... You need to be damn fit, or, not eat a lot when you go out as every return trip involves 100 steep steps back to the hotel..they offer a shuttle bus to the beach and back between 11-5pm, ( wasn't amazingly regular though!?), they have their own beach (Maratha beach) but even as a guest from the hotel you still have to pay 8 euros for sun beds? They have a tennis court ( looks like it has never been used as overgrown) and charge you 15 euros and hour to use ( we didn't bother), overall the hotel is OK..mainly because the pool area is gorgeous with great views and the young lad Thanasis who works round the pool is so helpful and polite!

Room tip: Opt for nothing less than a modern room with sea views

Read a few disgruntled reviews about the"classic" rooms but certainly the ones we had were plain simple and spotlessly clean (twice a day) with a fantastic sea view
Buffet breakfast excellent and staff cannot do enough for you!
Nice pool area and loungers with great views!
Downside on a steep hill a great work out for Fitbit addicts but not for those who have any serious walking difficulties although the hotel does supply a courtesy bus several times a day to both the lovely Koukounaries beach and Skiathos town.
Local bus stop 22 just at bottom of drive runs every 15 mins till the early hours for the night owls
If you are looking for a comfortable base with great views this is it!
Local restaurants a brisk 15 min walk or one bus stop ride

My husband and I had a long weekend to see each other and visit old friends we had not seen for years and years. We were so looking forward to this short reprieve. The views at the hotel are beautiful BUT....the air con did not work and they said it was even though they came 3 times and told us something different each time and they said they were full and could not move us. The beds are so hard the floor would be softer and they had a mattress cover that felt like rubber so it creased under the sheets. And the wires where the dryer used to be I assume, were exposed. I never even mentioned that to them as I was too hot and tired! This is the first time I looked forward to the "comfort" of a 6 hour plane ride to rest! Honeymooners, beware!

Room tip: Do not stay in room 156!!!

We had booked only 4 weeks before in most brochures the hotel was fully booked. We travelled with Olympus Travel. Perhaps they only book the cheap rooms. We were upgraded to a modern room, when we got in the room we had no sea view in fact we looked at a brick wall. The room was very basic and the bathroom was like something from 1970 and not very clean. On complaining it was agreed we would be moved after 3 nights. The next room Modern with sea view felt much better but was still very basic although the bathroom was better. It seemed that the more expensive rooms which were modernised people were pleased with. On the whole the reception, dining room and lounge areas were very dated and the furniture scruffy. The breakfast was also poor for a 4 star hotel. We did not have an evening meal at the hotel. The pool bar was very average and the sun beds again needed updating. Such a shame as nice location near the beach and the local bus made it easy to get around.

Room tip: Pay for anything above Modern
