My sister and I booked to stay in 2 rooms at this hotel as we were taking our disabled brother to Anaxos for 2 weeks. We were met at the airport by Apostolis who was very friendly. From there it went down hill.
On arrival at the hotel there were no other guests to be seen. No problem as they were probably at the beach. They asked if we would like a drink and when we said yes, a coke please, we were told no, they didn't have that, just juice. Juice it was then. They took us out to the poolside patio area where we sat down to have our juice. On getting up to go to our rooms we found we were covered in dust as they hadn't cleaned the poolside furniture. Charming. 6 months worth of dust.
When we asked for room keys they seemed puzzled by this request. They eventually found keys, but it transpired that every key opens every room door in the entire hotel.
In our room we found the beds and bedding to be damp. The toilet was constantly running and was also leaking, so the bathroom floor was constantly wet and getting wetter and we wondered if it was clean water or sewage water. Thankfully it was clean water. The sink also leaked, so our floor mat was sodden. We asked for our mattresses to be put out on the balcony to dry but after 2 nights decided we could stand it no more and asked to change rooms. Showering was a real chore as for some reason we only had a dribble of water. Not easy washing long hair.
There was still no sign of any other guests and at night when we got back to the hotel we had to let ourselves in as the owners had gone and had left the key in the door for us. In the morning we would let ourselves out again as most mornings there was no sign of anyone. You might think a hotel all to yourself would be great, but believe me it wasn't. What would have happened in an emergency? You expect someone to be onsite.
Our brothers room again had a damp mattress and bedding and we had asked for his mattress also to be put out to dry but it wasn't. This concerned us as he has a heart condition and also suffers with Asthma. Also on opening his patio door one morning the whole door came off in my hand and thankfully just stood on the floor. When we spoke to the owner (who by the way had had trouble with the door himself when we checked in) he said our brother pulled too hard. Funny as it was me not him who opened the door and I didn't pull.
We arrived on the Saturday and it was Tuesday before our room was cleaned for the first time. That was the only time we saw a cleaner in the place.
About 12.30 a.m. on the Thursday morning we were disturbed by voices. There were other people in the hotel at last and they were shouting from upstairs to people downstairs. They probably thought they had the hotel to themselves as they hadn't seen us and we don't know what time they arrived as we didn't know they were there.
The final straw came on that morning when on leaving the hotel we saw the new guests sitting out by the pool deck at a table with a tablecloth and food and drink. We hadn't been able to get anything the whole time we were there. Apostolis's wife was also sat behind reception as a receptionist would. That was a first as well. We made the decision that enough was enough and we were going to change hotels.
When we approached Apostolis and his wife and told them we were leaving and would like our money back (we had stupidly insisted they take payment on our arrival), they said no. They said why are we leaving as there are no problems with the hotel. We said there are many problems, there is never anyone there and we have had enough. They said why do they need to be there and that they are there 7,8,9,10 o'clock clean, clean, clean. They don't know what clean is, as if they did there wouldn't have been mould covering the wooden chopping board and cupboard containing the utensils in my brothers room. My sister continued to argue while I packed our things as I just wanted to get out of there. Eventually they rang Elli whom we had dealt with to book the hotel and she informed my sister that the hotel doesn't open until the 21st June. THEN WHY ARE WE THERE????? If the hotel is not open why did they accept our booking.
The simple answer is money. They didn't take our passports when we arrived which they have to do by law, so we can only draw our own conclusions. Elli eventually said she would refund us half, so we paid for a week and had a weeks refund. She then sent me an email saying she would refund half of the second weeks money, so 150 euros. Thankfully we had already had our weeks money back. She tried using the fact that we had changed rooms as a reason for this. We had to change rooms as the original room needed repairs. The entire hotel needed cleaning and fixing up and they should never have accepted our booking. Never again will we stay here and we would warn everyone else to avoid it. Apostolis and his wife were very nice people, but they were not really business orientated.
