“Started horribly, but got better. Average hotel, nothing fancy.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

We chose this hotel because we were on a budget, and we also wanted to stay close to Corfu town and avoid a hour-long bus ride to the hotel. But when we first got there, the hotel had no electrical power. We were told it would be back on in an hour or so, but we later found out from other guests that it had been out for approx 24 hrs and they had always been promising "in an hour or two" What a load of rubbish. So no a/c, no lights in the rooms, not much in terms of food. It took them almost an hour to provide candles for our room. I was really not impressed. It then took them an additional 24 hours to get the power restored. And all that time, the neighbours had power, so the problem was only at our hotel. I recognise that this type of thing probably doesn't happy very often, but it was extremely poorly handled by the management. Front-line staff did their best, and frankly, they did a great job of dealing with so many irate guests. Once the power was restored however, things dramatically improved. And it turned it to be a decent hotel. The view was incredible (you can see for yourself above), pool was nice (saltwater). Meals were below average. The beach was very pebbly for the first 10 feet or so as you enter the water, then turns into sand. One of the pleasant surprises was how well they cater to kids. They have lots of accessories for the pool/beach for kids (air mattresses, floaties, mini play 'boat') and a small playground. And everything is there for everyone to use. So that was nice.

If you're looking for an average hotel, at a reasonable price, Corfu Holiday Palace fits the bill, but just don't get your expectations too high.

Room Tip: Definitely go for Sea View, and choose an upper level.

I'm staying at this hotel at the moment on a week long holiday - so far I've spent two nights here with five to go. While generally I agree with previous reviewers that this is basically a 3 or 4 star hotel there is one aspect to the room I am staying in that let it down very badly.

The beds. This don't even make it to one star!

While the room is well supplied with useless furniture like sofas, armchairs and coffee tables, the sleeping arrangements consist of two narrow (3ft) camp beds placed up against the wall. There is no headboard, no bedside tables, no reading lamps - just the camp beds. It is most bizarre and looks like a living room which someone has set up for an overnight guest. To make matters worse, the beds are pretty uncomfortable.

There are other trivial aspects to the room I could mention, like the broken toilet seat or the air con that makes a noise but doesn't produce any cool air but then you would think I was just a habitual complainer. I am not. The rest of the hotel is fine and the food is pretty good. Its just the beds.

If you enjoy the camping experience then maybe this is for you. However, if you value comfortable beds, and the ability to read a book before bedtime, then give this place a miss. Or maybe its just the room I am in (although I paid for a sea view room which I thought would give me a better standard).

p.s. I am in Room 648, name of La***, in case the manager reads this and wants to discuss.

This hotel was not our first choice, but the best we could find, meeting location and Tripadvisor rating.
We did not regret it!
Although a bit rundown ex delux hotel, the location, 5 minutes from town, the pool, the beach and above all the friendly staff made our stay very enjoyable.
There was a big choice of dishes both for breakfast and dinner.
The only remark I have - please get newer towels, as the ones in the room are very worn down

We went there expecting a western standard 5* hotel so were unpleasantly surprised. I would say this is a 3* hotel with some amenities that tick the 5* boxes like restaurant, pool, and private beach. Initially, we were put in a Bungalow which are perhaps 2* at most. No internet access - not even paid, beds are rock hard, separate from the rest of the hotel, bathroom is dirty and old, no hair drier, safe, mini bar or iron. Only plus is that they are big with balconies and air-conditioning. We requested to change to a normal room in the hotel. Even though the brochure in the room says "free wireless internet in every room" only at the corner of the bathroom I could pick up a weak signal on my phone’s wifi. Room was cleaner but still with issues: toilet flush broken, shower head broken, old beehive in the balcony, still no safe, and very old furnishing. Now to the hotel staff: We concluded that the hotel was way under-staffed for the number of guests. There was usually only 1 person at reception who was busy and generally stressed and rude and unhelpful. We even saw the manager arguing with a family who were complaining about the condition of their bungalow! At breakfast, we usually struggled to find a clean table - on one occasion we even cleaned the table ourselves because we just didn’t want to wait any longer. And again the unpleasant staff - we witnessed one waiter being very rude towards a group of guests because they asked him to clean the table for them. Having said all of this, there were individual nicer staff. And the food, well - im glad we were not half-board as the buffet dinner was awful - tasteless and wasn’t fresh - not what you expect from Greek food. In restaurants outside or in town you can get amazing food. As other reviewers have said, the hotel is right at the end of the runway. Its not a busy airport so the noise didn’t bother us too much, but when there is a plane, the noise takes over everything. Cool views of planes landing and taking off! Some plus points: beach is wonderful, pool area was very nice, views from the hotel are amazing, good connection to Corfu town with a public bus, nice hotel bar with live music on some nights. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again. But I have a feeling this might be a general standard of hotels in Greece.

Room Tip: Wouldnt recommend the bungalows. Stay in main hotel if possible. Ask for a room with GOOD wifi acces...

It is tricky about the stars, still, in my opinion , it does not reach this advertised five star level considering west-european standards. On the other hand, Greece is not in western Europe, so...About location: very, very, close to the airport. On one hand, you will catch some unbelievably close photo shots of planes landing or taking off; on the other hand, some might find the noise from the planes engines disturbing. About rooms: nice, spacious, good and large balconies. Those facing the sea have spectacular view. Cleaned and mantained daily. Still one can notice the outdated furniture, kept from the 80-90'is. We had a door, locked, probably connecting with the neighbouring room. This door was odd and coming from another world, old and ruining the aspect of the room. So was the bathroom door. So were the bedsides with inserted radios, with buttons, (not in use anymore, of course), or the tv. I have to mention that not all the rooms are the same: we saw a family room that looked much better, living room, 2 lcd's, bathroom with 2 sinks. The restaurant: excellent food, varied and tasty, a biig plus. Swiming pool with salty water, excellent, thumbs up. Beach: accesed with panoramic lift, not wide, but longer, enough space. The seafront is protected with a barrier of rocks, so the sea water is always calm, clear and warm, protected like a gulf. The cost of the sunbeds and umbrela is 7 euro/day, regardless your consumation from the beach bar (usualy the bars offer free sunbeds if you have consumation, but not here). The hotel has tennis courts, garage for cars, bowling, table tennis, lobby bar, indoor swiming pool, gym, etc... The internet is wireless, free and accesible from everywhere, including the rooms, still the signal is weaker in some parts. Laptops can be rented from the reception desk. The staff: well... they do their job, they smile to you, but they are not happy to serve you, and they are not hiding that. More like a friend making you a favour when serving you, then a proper 5* hotel employee. The staff place themself at least as your equal. The waiters at the restaurant were not very fast in cleaning the tables, so the race for a clean table was always an issue. And..a 5* hotel waiter will not interrupt you while you are byting from your food because he decided he wants his 6 euro for the beer and wine right that second. The reception desk was more defending with arguments and large smiles then solving your questions or demands. Summing up, my experience: a good stay, certainly good hotel choice, balanced price and quality, but they would make themself a service if they would stop advertising as 5 stars, because 99% of their guests (british and western europeans) know what real 5* mean and would only draw atention on this discrepancy. If you go relaxed and just wanting to relax on holiday, instead of noticing every little detail, you'll be fine in this hotel. If you are fussy and demanding, then you might be disapointed .

Room Tip: family rooms on the 3rd level, sea side, are very good

I went there with my husband & my 2 children (4&2). The location of the hotel was great and though our room was a lake view and not a sea view but we had an amazing view to the runway of the airport as it wasn't far and the children enjoyed watching the planes taking off & landing.
The hotel was good but definitely not a 5* hotel, being a guest and paying €7 everyday for sunbeds & an umbrella on the beach put us off.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and all speaking english, the food was really quality specially the dinner, the chef standing by the buffet making sure that guests are happy and that food is toped up all the time even we became friends with one of the chefs (Giannis) who kindly made us a special plate from the kitchen on our last day. The dinner buffet has a nice selection of starters, salads, soup, fruits, desserts and hot food with variety of meat, fish, chicken, pasta,....etc was amazing.
The hotel facilities are not much fun for the children, the pool with a minimum depth of 1m is def not suitable for toddlers but suits older children.
The overall experience was good and we do recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms whether with a sea or lake views are much nicer than bangalows
