The room was not very clean and the tv didn't work. But generally is a good place if you concider the fact that you are staying by the sea for fifty euros, with airconditioning. You don't have any other amenities but the restaurant at the same place has good enough food and fish and resonable prices.
Also the people there were very friendly and willing to service you.
I would recomended it as a cheap and easy solution. If you would like something better you could try "Club Calimera" with 90 euros all inclussive but I don't know any other details.

Lovely apartment. Immaculate & very spacious with a real luxury bathroom which you rarely get in self catering 3 star in Greece. They have a Taverna at the front where the owner cooks real Greek food with pride and a reasonable cost Look over to the beach from here, it's 5 strides away ! The owners have sunbeds on the beach which is sandy and gently slopes into the sea. The resort is chilled with about 9 tavernas a bar and cocktail bar with music till late!

We stayed at the Stegna Star about 4 years ago and had a great time so we decided to go back again this year. This year we planned our own holiday as no English tour operators go there and we wanted the freedom of doing our own thing. Stegna Star was very easy to contact by email and the booking was soon sorted out. As we have stayed there before we knew what to expect and we where not disapointed. We were met by the family that own the appartments and the taverna underneath. The rooms were lovely and the food delicious. With the beach being on the doorstep and with the charms of Stegna at our disposal we had a wonderful time and will be going back there again next year. Dont let the fact no tour operators go there put you off book your holiday independently hire a car and chill.

The Stegna Mare are fairly new studios in the peaceful and relaxed resort of Stegna. They are directly opposite the Stegna Star apartments and are owned by members of the same family.

We stayed in studio 120 and I have to say it was the cleanest and largest studio I have stayed in Greece. They were well equipped and furnished. Don't get me wrong, there were 2 small rings and a kettle, so you're not going to make anything fancy, but there is plenty of cutlery, pans and a big fridge. There was a portable television with 2 English channels (BBC prime and BBC World News). The studio had a small but adequate balcony, but privacy was non existent as you are over looked directly by the Stegna Star apartments (see the photos).

There is a restaurant at the apartments which is open from early morning till late evening as well as a small travel agency office which can arrange trips and car hire.

The owners are very nice. You will meet Charlie. He is like a Greek Del Boy, but totally genuine and very helpful.

The waters around Stegna are great for snorkling, so by yourself a mask and dive in.

Did I enjoy my stay? Very much so. Would I stay here again? Certainly.

The only down point of the place was the rock hard beds. I could not sleep on them as the back pain they gave me was crippling. Oh yeh, there is the Rooster that lives next door and wakes you at 5.30 every morning. Yes, every morning.

Stegna itself is a very laid back and relaxed place that is manly a mix of British and German tourists and swelled by Greeks at the weekend. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle and the sea gets deep within 3 feet of the shore, so not the safest for kids. There is some watersports and boat hire available. There are 3 bars. Mercades (Really over priced), Jack (popular with locals and tourists) and The Blue Window (Great views and the nicest of the bars).

There are plenty of tavernas that range from excellent to very poor. The best that we found were Knights Castle (good for traditional Greek food), Pergilias (good seafood) and the best by a mile, Kozas (the best seafood we have ever had and we like our seafood).

Transport links are poor. There is one bus in the morning direct to Rhodes Town and one back in the afternoon. There a couple of buses to Arch Angelos with links to Lindos and Rhodes Town. Arch Angelos is a working town. It is worth a visit in the early to late evening to join the hustle and bustle of the locals for a coffee or beer. The old part is quite quaint and the church is lovely, but don't hold your breath for a taxi back to Stegna.

Rhodes town is quite trendy in the new town area and the old town has lovely buildings, but it is spoiled by the abundance of shops selling tat and the constant pawing from shop owners. My tip! Don't go during the day, go late evening when the tourist tat shops are shut and the locals come out to party.

Rhodes as an island does not compare to the likes of Kefalonia or Corfu for beauty, but Stegna is a wee bit of heaven in a over touristy island. Unfortunatly the studios are only available via Kosmar who are hopeless, as is its parent company XL, and the rep Jean was worse than useless with a terrible attitude and a great ability to always be somewhere else.
