My wife and i decided to search out this beach after reading a few posts on T.A. saying how good it was,we were not disappointed. We found it's location through google, put Istron in the sat-nav and set off from Hersonissos. It took us about an hour to get there after a hiccup or two near Ag Nik and saw the sign for the beach after passing through Istron opposite a row of tavernas.
There is a car park set above the beach or there is parking outside the tavernas, there is a small cafe and toilet and changing hut at the top of the concrete staircase that leads down to the beach. We had a snack and a drink from the cafe before heading down to the beach, the steps are not too steep and are plenty wide enough so not too difficult to negotiate.
On the day we visited there was quite a stiff breeze to keep us cool and the waves coming in were fairly fierce but great fun to negotiate,we purchased a couple of sunloungers costing €6.00 and settled in.The beach is pure sand as is the seabed, once in the sea there were no hidden sudden drops and it just slopes down gently and is fairly shallow for quite a way in.
There was also a waitress who came around to take orders from the cafe so there was no need to go back up the steps apart for the call of nature.
All in all,a wonderful sandy beach in a glorious setting with decent enough facilities and well worth searching out if you like the best sandy beaches.
