All the other reviews are right on! Petite, Swiss-born Marianne is the perfect hostess, warm, caring, attentive, but not intrusive. Her generous breakfasts were the best we had in Alaska. The new, Swiss chalet style rooms are clean and airy, and beats anything you can find near the Park entrance.
I'm not a huge fan of B&Bs, but the arrangements at Deneki Lakes could convert me. Instead of staying inside your hosts' house, the guest rooms are completely separate, located on the second floor over the host's house. There are two rooms, each with its own bathroom, that share a common living room/den area. Marianne, our host, couldn't have been more accommodating. (Her husband Fritz wasn't in during out stay, since he was working at Camp Denali in Denali National Park... our destination following our Deneki Lakes stay.)
Our room was spacious, airy, and impeccably clean. The shower had great water pressure. And the breakfast that Marianne prepared for us the following morning was absolutely delicious. She graciously drove us to a nearby restaurant for dinner, and dropped us off early (at our request) at the park's train station, giving us directions for a short, but fun hike, before our long train ride.
All in all our stay was flawless, and the perfect introduction to what would become our most memorable vacation to date at Camp Denali. It couldn't have been nicer, and our next trip to Camp Denali will undoubtedly include a stay at Deneki Lakes again!
We needed an overnight stay near the entrance of Denali National Park and wanted to avoid the "glitter gulch" hotels and such. Fritz met our train and delivered us to a wonderful place to stay--well appointed, relaxing and comfortable. And breakfast was fantastic. We were then delivered to our bus to take us to the North Face Lodge in the park. Deneki Lakes B&B was a great place to recharge before we continued our Alaskan adventure.
Fritz and Marianne's home is new and immaculate with beautiful views. The room we stayed in had a very comfortable queen bed. Marianne made delicious breakfasts and was very flexible when we needed breakfast at 5am and lunches packed by 6am. Marianne and Fritz were very welcoming, warm and friendly. We plan to travel back to Denali during the next 2-3 years and hope they room at their B&B for us next time.
We spent three nights at Deneki Lakes prior to going into Denali National Park.
The B&B is new. The hosts are Marianne and Fritz, and they really show Swiss hospitality. The room where we stayed was large, with an excellent view of the mountains in the distance. Breakfast was very good.
This is a modern, friendly and very comfortable B&b just outside of Denali National Park. The guest quarters are two rooms in a self contained, spacious and light filled apartment on the second floor. The hosts are a Swiss American couple who built the house themselves. Views of the moutsins and spruce forests for all windows. Marianne's breakfasts are sublime; tea, coffee and light snacks are available all day. An excellent base for excursions around the area.
