My wife and I were very concerned when we read a very negative comment on this web site about our trip to Lesbos Aeolian Village. We did contact Neilson , the company we booked with, and they put our mind at rest. We had to drive overnight to Gatwick as the flight was very early in the morning , which was a pain. The bus trip from the airport to the resort was long but the driver was calm and did not rush which was good as the roads had plenty of bends. On arrival at resort we were greeted by staff with a cold drink and they offered to take our luggage to our room, a first for me on this type of activity trip!
The room we had was very clean and a good size with all the equipment needed for this type of holiday. No toilet paper allowed down the loo though this had to be placed in a bin, a little strange.
The first lunch was very good with a vast range of salads and there was plenty of choice of main courses with some local dishes as well. The food remained very good throughout the week . The only complaint I would make is I ate too much!
The activities during the week were very well organised. My wife and I decided to sail and windsurf. The quality of the equipment was good and staff were prepared to fix things when it went wrong . There were strong on shore winds when we where sailing and staff were prepared to run into the water to help recover the boats ,which was fantastic . Instruction was outstanding from the more senior instructors and the younger instructors tried hard. Paddy , the senior windsurfing instructor, was outstanding in every way. Without his keen eye for detail I would not have gained my RYA certificate. Well done Paddy you will go far!
Would I encourage any one else to visit the Aeolian Village? I would say yes if you like an activity holiday and enjoy food. Well done Neilson.

Well looked after by Neilson plenty to do all day with a good choice of sailing dingheys, catermerans, windsurfers, canoes, paddle boards and of couse the water skiing and wake boarding. Only downside was we had 4 days out of the fortnight when it was blowing an onshore gale and the watersports were grounded. Tennis tuition and the friendly tournaments were organised by Adam and Ewan who did a fantastic job. The talented Lauren did most of the evening entertainment at the pool bar. The beer and wine were on the expensive side but happy hour at the beach bar 5.00pm to 6.30pm you could get 2 pints beer for 5 euros. A trip to the Monastry on the mountain bikes is a must following the river past the dam, its quite flat and about 8km each way. The chapel at the Monastry and the views are well worth the visit. The village 10 minute walk away is picture postcard with the many reasonable priced resturants overlooking the sea a few supermarkets and ATM machines to draw money out. Rooms at the hotel are clean a nice size with a fridge. Only problem we had was an inconsiderate couple of lads as neighbours who sat up drinking and talking till the early hours on their balcony. The pool has no shallow end and you cant stand up in it so its no good if you are not a competant swimmer. The food in the resturant is excellent and plenty to choose from you sit outside on the patio to eat only problem the food goes cold quick as the plates are cold. George the head chef and the staff are always so helpful and pleasant. Great holiday and would go to a Neilson resort again.

We will definitely be booking our next holiday with Neilson's and can't recommend them enough. Fantastic holiday it was really enjoyable with friendly staff, great food, all activities included and not forgetting kids club. This was a holiday that the whole family enjoyed. We played a lot of tennis, learnt how to sail, water ski and went mountain biking. We found it very sociable meeting some very interesting people and the children made lots friends too.

If your not a hotel snob but enjoy activities and good service you'll love this place.

The food is superb, healthy and varied. The service is excellent. The activities are fantastic with lots of quality kit. The instructors are very helpful as are all the staff.

The childcare is professional, flexible and well set up.

I came with my wife three years ago without children and we had a fantastic time. Returning this time with a child was different but still excellent with Neilsons appearing to have upped their game in that time.

We will be returning next year most probably for two weeks instead of our usual one.

Just come back from 2 amazing weeks at Neilsons Aeolian village, Eresos on Lesbos. What a place. We were there for the first two weeks of the new season. All the equiptment was brand new. The facilities are amazing and the staff wonderful. If you want you can waterski, weightboard, Sail, Kayak, windsurf, play tennis or go out mountin biking. There are also fitness classes. I don't reccomend the Zumba on the beach. This needs to be done on a hard surface. We had never been on this sort of holiday before but our friends picked it. You really don't have to anything if you don't want to. There is a lovely pool and lods of sun beds, mostly un occupied as folk are busy doing the activities. The food was amazing, all fresh produce and lots of it. The hog roast is not to be missed.(Payable extra) The village is in a really quite part of the island. There are two village nearby, Skala Eresos about 10 walk with restaurants overlooking the sea. This becomes a ghost town in the winter and Eresos (The Winter village) in the hills .Not being sailors ourselves we opted to go out on the bikes and had some lovely rides. We decided to go for a hillside suite and although it was 98 steps up the view was amazing from our balcony overlooking the sea and all of the site.We did get used to the steps and probably came back fitter than we went. There is lots of wildlife/Birds in the area and some really pretty places to vist. Monasteries and the Petrified forrest, Mytillini and Sigri are worth a visit. You need a car to get around, didn't see one bus in two weeks. All the staff are really hard working. Mainly British but all very friendly and helpful. There are amazing Kids clubs (payable extra) and it was lovely to see the Kids being taken out sailing and Kyaking. The bar prices are a little on the expensive side compared to prices in the village. Can't understand why people want to go on holiday and spend hours on the internet.Surely holidays are to get away and relax!!!

Room Tip: If you don't like steps then don't go for the hillside suites. We picked them as we thought i...

We were the very first guests to arrive for the season thanks to a taxi transfer from the airport due to the platinum package. We have 2 small children and this package was well worth it. The transfer itself took 1hr 45min from the airport by car and it's the worst part of the holiday by a mile.
Nice arrival with comp drink and a cool flannel before we were shown to our room. The room was clean and tidy but very basic. It's all you need because you just use it to sleep and get ready for a busy day.
Meeting on sat night is a must because you can sign up for the activities for the week. Both my wife and myself were complete novices and we'd never done this type of holiday before. We opted for windsurfing lessons and water ski, both good fun but quite tricky.
Mounting bike rides were well organised by Nick & Josh and vary from very easy to very tough. We went to the monestary which was quite easy apart from 1 climb but worth it when you get there. Views were fantastic.
Staff on the beach were always polite and helpfull, we took out some kayaks and paddle boards on a regular basis which were very relaxing.
Both our children went to the clubs, our 7yr old loved it and we hardly saw him for the 2 weeks. The nannies are excellent, very patient with the kids and loads to do for them.
Entertainment was good, well guieded by Lauren, with lots of variety through the week.
Hotel food was excellent, best buffet food we've ever had. On the 3 nights where they don't cater we went out to the village. Ate in a few restraunts, best one was Roots, followed by Aubergine. We were advised to go to Gorgos (i think thats how you spell it) by the staff but this was no more than average. Staff tend to suggest it as they have free food & drinks when they eat there. Belle Ville was also nice as was the Bistro back at the hotel. It's a nice walk to the village but take a torch with you, there's parts of the road which are pitch black on the way home.
Nice to go to the beech every night at 5, "Beer o'clock"every night until 6.30.
All in all this was a fantastic holiday which caters for both novices like us and the pros.
I would definately go again (must crack windsurfing!!) 2 weeks just flew by.
