“Always a good meal”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

this was our third visit to this hotel and again the food was very good but Marcos spoiled it this year by telling us that we could not move the sunbeds, he said if you want to follow the sun change beds.
We informed the rep and he spoke to Marcos, but it had put a damper on the holiday, lovely place and it may because it was near the end of the season. The beach is lovely with plenty of sunbeds.

just back from two weeks holiday here, super place, great family run hotel, nothing was too much trouble for the family from grandparents down to the children. Marcos was an excellent cook with a very varied menu---all tasty. The rooms are cleaned almost daily and what a whirlwind cleaner Margarita was, I wanted her in my backpack to bring home she was a delight (always cheerful & smiling) the hotel is well placed for super markets, and for the sports mad next door is Christakis sports bar 8 screens whatever your sport, he also very welcoming & friendly he could not do enough for you. His morning barmaid Kim was lovely very busy and played excellent music, yes everything was well positioned even the bus stop just a short walk, definitely visit again

Room Tip: they are all positioned well, all rooms round the pool

This hotel is well worthy of its high rating on tripadvisor. We stayed here with two teenage girls who also loved this place. As with all Greek hotels, the rooms are always very basic but the rooms were all very clean. They were equipped with a fridge, sink and cooker. The fridge is worth its weight in gold but did not use the cooker. Looked like an antique. The hotel has a great atmosphere and the pool and sunbathing is by far the best in the area. There are enough sun beds for everyone in the hotel even if they all sunbath at the same time. Only twelve rooms and over twenty sunbeds. So, have a lie in and get up to a free sunbed. The sunbeds themselves are also worthy of note as they are solid wood with thick mattresses on. Very comfortable. You must try the restuarant. The food is home made and we found that people had travelled her from afar on recommendation. Be prepared to wait though but remember you are in GMT. (Greek Maybe Time). There are a number of restaurants within walking distance and the feedback from other tourists were always great. We tried Ratatoui and Salt and Pepper. Both highly recommended. All the rooms have a balcony and I can say that all rooms have good views. Most are over the pool on two floors or there is a separate building overlooking the main road. We had the later and felt a bit disappointed at first but then found that this was the most secluded. You could open the windows and walk around the room in the nudy in complete privacy. What joy! So, as for a room recommendation, you can't loose on any room. They are all good. There is a supermarket right opposite to get fresh vegetables, fruit and Mythos Beer. Straight in the fridge for later. Good selection of wines too. We got the bus into town a couple of times. Two euros each. However, as it was only eight for a Taxi, if you can get one, it is well worth it. Buses are always chocker full. It takes about fifteen minutes to get to Skiathos town and well worth a trip. Mama Mia is on three times a week in the outdoor cinema and what a great night that was. They serve beer, wine and popcorn in your seats. We traveled with Thomson's and went on their boat trip. There is a 50% mark up on their prices so shop around at the harbour to get a good deal on a boat trip. All in all, this place is worth staying at and I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: To be honest. all rooms have good views. It depends whether you like a first floor or not. The ones...

Stayed at villa Rosa for 2 weeks and had a lovely holiday. Family that owned villa Rosa very friendly and helpful. Very quiet during day around the pool, we ate several times here and food was always superb and very reasonably priced , Mama Rosa Beef is a must to try!! Rooms very basic but clean, regular towel change. Drinks next door in the sky sports bar are fab, Christakas so friendly and helpful, also do a good Sunday lunch. Other good places to eat are the Ratitouille, the sunrise and Salt and Pepper, you need to book the Salt and Pepper but def worth a visit even if a little more expensive, avoid the fish restaurant opposite Salt and Pepper, really bad !! Make sure you take plenty mosquito repellent .

We had a wonderful 10 day holiday at the Villa Rosa mid May. When we arrived the weather had not been too good and it was a bit changeable for the first two days. We were met off the coach by Markos' wife and shown to our apartment. It is a very small complex and very well looked after. Most of the people staying there were return visits. The studios were ample for the two of us. Markos made us very welcome and we ate at the restaurant on site the first night and twice more. Lovely food indeed. The buses were very frequent and we used these most days to get around the island. Skiathos town is very nice and again we went in at night by bus to enjoy the nightlife and watch the world go by. We ate out every night and did not find it expensive at all. We went on a boat trip which we organised ourselves at the harbour in Skiathos. We went to Skopelos. The trip was much cheaper than the Thomsons ones. The other restaurants we used in Troulos were the Victoria and Green Meadows where again we had excellent value meals. Villa Rosa was ideally situated off the main road, peaceful and yet not too far to walk to get anywhere. We would definitely return again.

Just got back from a 2 week holiday at the Villa Rosa. It is true what the other reviews say that Markos and his family are very friendly and accommodating. George (waiter/handyman) is hilarious. We ate at the restaurant 4 times during our 2 week stay. The food is reasonably priced and there is a lot of choice and it is very good quality - Markos is an excellent chef. We were a party of 6, consisting of myself and husband, 2 x 21 year olds and 2 x 17 year olds. We found that Skiathos had something to offer every age group. The pool area is kept very clean and the sun loungers are really comfortable. There are plenty of sunbeds to go around and the first week, people just wandered down to the pool and chatted to each other, not minding where they sat (the rooms are very close to the pool). However, on the latter part of our holiday 2 large groups arrived, and the towels started to go out on the sunbeds very early in the morning, which in my opinion is not what a small and friendly holiday should be about.

The beach is about a 15/20 minute walk away and is absolutely stunning. It's nice to relax around the pool, but we found there was much more going on at the beach and a bit more of a cooling breeze.

Others restaurants that we visited in Troulos were Kalyvi (just across the road from Villa Rosa) where the food is very reasonably priced although the menu is basic and Ratatouille - excellent food, service and well priced, although a little impersonable in my opinion. There were lots more restaurants to choose from in Troulos and you are spoilt for choice in Skiathos Town.

We went on 2 boats trips - one to Skopelos and the other to Lalaria beach and the mainland. Both were good (we booked these ourselves - much cheaper than going with Thomsons!).

Villa Rosa is a friendly, comfortable, clean and safe base to explore Skiathos.
