First-timers at Filia (15th to 29th September)

We can write all the words under the sun to try and describe Filia Studios but there are no words to truly explain the ‘Filia Experience’. Many people may complain about different aspects of Filia if they are looking for something to complain about and separate it from the whole, as you can never please all of the people all of the time.

Who and how can anyone possibly complain about the whole ‘Filia Experience’ when so much care and attention is given to all the guests. Thank you so much to all the family for helping us have such a memorable holiday! Christos - you should be wearing a Superman suit at all times!!! You have so many guests throughout the year and yet you learn about your guests and their individual needs from day one and do everything in your power to accommodate without ever being intrusive. Kyria Filia - you are lovely lady with grace and beauty, wonderful cook, always smiling and interacting with your guests teaching them the Greek language, Greek dancing and even giving tips on Greek recipes. Anne-Marie you are also a beautiful lady, a wonderful host and always ready to give us information about the local area, also loving mum to your doting Taco and Charlie who have become part of the Filia family! Kyrio Yiannis – yes we do know that you are there! And we do appreciate the natural beauty surrounding Filia which you proudly tend to everyday. Kyria Voula - who quietly assists with the wonderful cooking behind the scenes in the kitchen and always has a friendly smile, a ‘yassou’ and a ‘kali mera’ for the guests, also not forgetting our lovely lady Kyria Despina who cleans the rooms and never fails to smile and say hello to all the guests no matter how busy she is.

The location of Filia Studios is great, surrounded by beautiful trees, sea-view and yet close enough to walk to the beach, wonderful restaurants and bars (I won’t mention any as Christos & Anne-Marie are sure to inform you of anything that suits your needs, but just to say we never had any bad food the whole two weeks we were there) The rooms have all you need for your stay, amazing views and very clean. Fantastic hosts and really lovely guests, a few of which we hope to have the pleasure of meeting again.

We hope to see you all again in the first couple of weeks in June.

Helen & Roy

Two star apartments 5 star hospitality- it was everything all other reviews have said. We were Filia newby's but felt very wellcome and relaxed at Filia and hopefully it wont be our last visit there. Thankyou Christos, Anne-Marie Mama Filia and family - Mama Filias food was best on the island, I think we had the best tasting food at the Hotel than many of the many good taverna's there- so I would reccomend doing the the BBQ and Greek night whilst there. Fantastic views from the rooms - and worth going to see the sunset that Christos takes you too on Eleni Beach.
I dont like being negative on such a positive holiday but would suggest taking your own bath towels as the ones they give out are rather small- I read this many months ago on a previous review and glad we did.
Thankyou Filia for a wonderfull holiday

I returned to Filia again on August 18th as a single guest inspired by the wonderful time I had last year. This year my stay was equally good if not better. I find it quite daunting going on holiday alone after years doing everything with my children. I received such a warm return welcome from Chris, Anne-Marie,Filia and Desmeana. At no point during my holiday did I ever feel lonely as I was welcomed and included in everything. The food produced by Filia and her team on Greek nights is absolutly delicious, especially the spread of mezedes starters. What I think is exceptional, is that if you want help with anything or you want go anywhere, Chris will always take you and sort things out: now that is five star plus service. My room had a breathtaking sea view, it was perfectly well equiped and spotlessly clean. I also want to say a huge thank you to Debs, Rob, Mandy and Gabriella for all their kindness and for making my holiday 'sparkle'. I'm sure I will be returning to the Filia again. I can't imagine that anywhere else, of any star rating could offer a better holiday experience than Filia.

Spent a wonderful two weeks at the Filia in September 2012.

So much has already been said about the place so I will keep this short.

Christos, Ann-Marie and the family are the best hosts anyone can wish for. I have travelled extensively around Greece and this was far and away the best place I have stayed.

The apartments have everything you need, the pool area is lovely and the bar is well stocked. It is a little bit of heaven.

The organised activities i.e. BBQ night and sunset trip are well worth going to. The food is out of this world.

If you are worried about having to get involved in things you don't want to, there is no need. You feel part of an extended family out there and are left to do your own thing if that is what you want. There is no pressure on you to do anything you don't want.

We made genuine friends out there and for the first time ever, I would happily go back to the same place again next year.

You will not be disappointed with your holiday here - we loved it.

Thank you to everyone we met out there who helped make our two weeks memorable.
In no particular order....Christos, Ann-Marie, Mamma Filia, Des the cleaner and her little helper, Dan & Mandy, Andrew & Dawn, Gary & Leanne, Keith & Chris, Nikki & Alan, Brian & Kim, Bobby & Marge, Roy & Mrs Roy, Taco & Charlie, the Goats x 3.

Until the next time.

Room Tip: Room 15 is on a corner and had fantastic views of the both the pool and the sea

Our third visit to the Filia and it just keeps getting better. Filia, Christos and all the family so welcoming as usual nothing too much trouble. Filia's cooking was as delicious as ever, the barbecue nights fabulous fun where everyone mingles and lets their hair down. We met people who had been previously at the same time as us and enjoyed their company again and also met new families whose company we also very much enjoyed.Christos as usual catered to everyone,s needs arranging paragliding, quoid bikes, jet skiing, beach hopping on speed boats and clubbing for our daughter so we could just chill out. The trip to the beach to watch the sunset is spectacular then back to the Filia for more of Filias fabulous food. Christos even had a table tennis table which a lot of fun was had by all. We will certainly return to the Filia time and a time again.

Abi, Sharon & Mr Ken

PS Mr Ken hopes Christo's table tennis playing improves as Filia will hope Mr Ken's speaking Greek does. See you next year

Well what can i say that hasn't already been said - first -

To Christos and Anne Marie Mama Fila Papa Filia Desi, thanks for a fab time. The moment we arrived we were made welcome by the lovely family who run the apartments, Christos (whose personality is legendary), his mother, Filia and his father. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. The Greek night was great fun with Filia encouraging us all to get up and dance (which we did). The hill which has been mentioned in other reviews is steep I managed to run 8 laps around Filia clock wise then up the hill. The views from the apartments are brilliant and the gardens are kept beautifully. Although we only had a few meals there; Dinner and a couple of lunches the food was great. Greek night food and sunset night worth every Euro. The mini bus was also used to take us into Skiathos which is a lovely place to wander around with lots of good places to eat and drink and watch the world go by. We also went on a boat trip to Skopelos and Alonissos for the day which was great and saw dolphins and a sea turtle!! 15 euros each for an 8 hour trip.

TIP TIME - I will get told off for this BUT before asked for It needs to be earnt ask for razagalo!! enough said!!! ittsss Gorgeos.

ENSURE YOU KNOW SOME GREEK BEFORE YOU ARRIVE IT PAYS DIVIDENDS!!
Phonetically -

Afaristo - Thankyou
Paracalo - A number of meanings -youre welcome, thanks, etc
O He Problema - No Problem
Ena 1
Diyo 2
For more do what i did get on line or sweet talk Mama Fila or Anne Marie (Sorry Christos your Greek not so good)

Retaurants - I would suggest trying Ratatolle, Salt and pepper. And for me the holy grail for meat lovers!!!! Go to Skiathos old port and head to Grill House Koziakas, man what a feast Went there three times on the trot!!! dont miss out. oh nearly forgot lunch time snack hit the Gyros around the corner Yummm 2 Gyros and 2 tins of pop 7 euros. Also another must is the Panoramic restaurant on the hill behind Skiathos.

Rock n Roll Bar - Half price cocktails between 1900 and 2130hrs. went here three times on the trot before Koziakas!! this place is fun, sit in the street on bean bags.

We hired a jeep £35 euros a day - on an island 14x 5?km we managed to cover over 250km in two days and spent £40 euros on petrol. Get a jeep for off roading and seeing more of the island, or maybe a quad.

We also hired a boat from Troulos beach at 80 euros for the day between 4 of us and went far and wide (This was an adventure hey Al, Nick?) this cost 50 euros in petrol went returned and hit the beach at Troulos EMPTY!! The boat enables you to get to remote beaches and coves on near by islands and to get to beaches on Skiathos not accessable any other way.

Pay a visit to the bar at the end of the runway (cant remember its name) when the planes land and take off you WILL experience something very different :-)

Another good night i vaguely remember was the Kareoke night, ask Christos for details, maybe even look on You Tube!! Thanks Dan and again Christos!!

All in all if you want a relaxing holiday with lovely beaches, a pretty town to visit, lots of good places to eat and drink, very friendly people go to Skiathos. This is a truly a fantastic island which I would go back to tomorrow if I could. AND STAY AT FILIA! Tell Christos the Filia faithful sent you sent you and ENJOY.

Just came back from the Filia Hotel in Skiathos and what a time it was. A big thank you to Christos ,Anne- Marie, Desmeana ( the best hotel room cleaner and entertainer ever), and not forgetting Mama Filia who makes the best rice pudding and lamb kleftiko on the island by far. When we got to the hotel we were put up in a room with 6 beds even though there was only me and Nikki it didn't matter one bit we had loads of room and the room was immaculate. They say it is basic but you have in your room more than you need and as we thought it was great to see a pair of mugs on the side so you can have a bigger hangover coffee in the morning!. The views from the room are brilliant. When we went to the pool area it was so quiet with plenty of comfortable beds and there is a pool table and table tennis. And to my amazement Christos sells John Smiths. The people we met at the hotel were friendly and we made some great friends and had some great laughs in and around the island!!!. I would recommend the Greek night and the Sunset Night as its a great time to meet people at the hotel and the food is amazing and I am not just saying it because I liked it ask Brian LOL although you would have to fight him for the honey balls. thank you once again to all at the FILIA and to all the good friends we made, especially Brian and Kim had a ball.
