Filia studios allow guests to experience Greek hospitality at its best . This is a small family run hotel where the owners give you 5 star customer service. Christos is at hand to ensure that you have a great holiday. He seems to know everyone and everywhere on the Island and will steer you in the right direction.
Filia is located in a high position above Troulos village . Lovely views and a rural / peaceful locality . The beach is a 15 minute walk (but a nice walk and not roads ) and tavernas and shops are just a 5 – 10 minute walk . No where on the island is much more than a twenty five minute drive away .
The events, meals and lifts provided by Chris ensure that all the guests meet which makes the whole experience that much better. You get to know all the family and the staff and whilst the majority of guests seem to be English the experience is definitely Greek without the tacky offerings of full English breakfast and English TV etc .
We would recommend Filia studios and would return . There is genuine friendship and you can’t put a price on this . It may not be 5 star luxury but the pool and bar area are perfect. The options of a weekly barbecue or sundowner drinks at a nearby beach followed by a grilled sea bream or lamb stifado are there if you want –however there is no pressure to be involved . But to get the full experience its worth joining in and you cannot fail to have a great time.
Skiathos
Pros – fantastic island, great beaches (best in Europe) Everything is close at hand . Skiathos town is vibrant with a beautiful old port and full of great restaurants. But its small enough so you get to know it . The people are generally friendly and accommodating.
Cons – very few – but supermarkets are madly expensive .Tonic for your gin UK 70p Skiathos £3 ! Box of cereal in Uk £2 but in Skiathos it’s nearly £5 . Also-drinks and meals are not cheap anymore. Lunch for 4 was normally £30 - £40. Evening meal and drinks £50 - £80 . But this is Eurozone and nothing is cheap anymore. If you are selective you can find some cheaper options and the food at Filia is very good quality and reasonable in price.
Thank you Christos – for everything we had a great holiday .

We've just returned from two fantastic weeks holiday and what can I say, you've got to stay here to appreciate just what a unique place Christos and his family have created. We've stayed in many places on the greek islands but nothing comes close to this lovely family run accommodation.
The rooms are basic but very well equiped with a kitchen area which has a fridge, small cooker/grill, two hot plates, a kettle and plenty of utensils. The beds are comfortable and there is loads of storage for your clothes etc. The shower has a curtain and a bath mat and a hook for the shower head (unheard of in greece), so no need to do a one handed hair wash! Our balcony was huge with fabulous views of the sea, the pool and Yiannis' garden.
Filia is not about plush bedrooms and marble bathrooms so if thats what you're looking for then stay somewhere else (your loss). You will arrive here as a stranger and leave as a friend and during your stay you will be looked after with such care you won't want to go home.
Christos is the most charismatic, hard working and helpful host, he will go out of his way to make your holiday unforgettable. If you need anything just ask and he will be happy to help. His minibus service into Skiathos town and back on an evening was invaluable as the public bus was a nightmare (packed in like sardines). Christos will only charge you 4euros return which is the same as the public bus and you get to travel in comfort and it also gives you the chance to chat to other guests. He will also take you to Agi Eleni beach where he has a long stretch of sunbeds and for 8 euros (2 beds and a shade) you get a lift there and back and the use of his beds, what a bargain! The beach is one of the best on the island and if Christos invites you to watch the sunset and have a cocktail one evening it's not to be missed. If you're really lucky on your return Filia will have cooked her famous lamb in the oven and it's so delicious.
The Sunday barbeque is a must, its great fun and gives everyone an opportunity to get to know each other over a glass of wine (or several) and gorgeous food. My other half wasn't keen when I suggested it and stated that there was 'no way he would get up and dance' but he thoroughly enjoyed the evening and was up there with the rest of us being led around the gardens by Filia and her marvelous greek dancing.
There are loads of tavernas in Troulos, you will be spoilt for choice but one you must visit is Nectar & Ambrosia, it has a lovely atmosphere, great service and fantastic food. They have an extensive menu, with lots of things we haven't tried before including beetroot and walnut salad (it looked like angel delight!) gorgeous!
When you venture into Skiathos town there is an Italian restaurant called 'Gravisi' you must try, it's amazing! Ask Christos for directions as its not on the main stretch and it would be a shame to miss it.. Another excellent taverna in town is 'Bonaparte', it offers something a bit different from the usual greek cuisine and has a lovely romantic atmosphere if you're travelling as a couple. I had roasted cod on mustard mash with hazelnuts and hubby had lamb steak with veg, absolutely delicious! Very popular so it might be worth booking (ask Christos, coz he's a regular!)
Skiathos town is very vibrant, particulaly in the evening. You can stroll along the harbour and look at the luxury yachts or just sit and have a glass of the local wine (very moreish and only 8euros for a litre) and people watch. Lots of shops selling handmade jewellery, artwork and the usual holiday trinkets on the main stretch but check out the back streets for the more unique gift shops.
I have never written a review before but I really could not return from this amazing place without recommending it to others. I was tempted to keep it a secret as the more people who know about it, the harder it will be to book next year, but the Sanidas family have given us such a fantastic holiday and run such a brilliant place it should be shouted from the mountain tops!
Thankyou so much Christos and his beautiful fiancee Rebecca, we had a smashing holiday and can't wait to return. We had such a laugh with you both and all the other lovely people staying at the Filia. I hope you haven't forgotten our survey Rebecca? Thankyou Filia for your delicious food, (i must get the recipe for your potato salad) and also for persuading John to join in the greek dancing, what a memorable night! Yiannis, you're the Alan Titchmarsh of Skiathos and we think your gardens are absolutely wonderful, thankyou for sharing them.
We miss you already, (even the hill and the ram) and can't wait to come back.
And to those of you who may be reading this, just book it, you won't be disappointed!

We booked this at very short notice after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed. We had studio 2 and thought it might be useful to give a brief description of the facilities. The bedroom had three wooden framed beds with bright coloured covers, a dressing table with two drawers and a mirror above, a bedside cabinet with 2 drawers, wardrobe with ample hanging space and hangers with shelves to the side where the safe was. The safe was not really big enough for a full size laptop, but would have held a notebook aswell as other valuables - the safe costs EU1 a day. There was an air conditioning unit, at a cost of EU5 per day and that was invaluable. The kitchen area had a small oven with two hotplates, ample crockery and cutlery etc and a good sized fridge - everying you need really. The shower room had the normal things for a Greek bathroom with the luxury of a shower curtain - my daughters were a bit taken aback with the situation with toilet tissue and the drains, but soon got used to it! The balcony was very large and had a table and three chairs, with a drying line (including numerous pegs) with a view out over the sea towards adjacent islands (Scopolos I think).
The overall facilites on site were excellent and kept immaculately clean - the pool area in particular with lots of sun beds, parasols and toys etc in the pool for the use of everyone - the garden areas were very well kept and were obviously the owners pride and joy. In the bar area was a pool table - no charge, an extensive library of books - so no need to carry loads of your own out. Food, produced by the family could be eaten either in the bar area, round the pool, or in a small grassed area adjacent to the bar. The food was all home produced, very well priced and to a very high standard.
Troulos itself is a small village, spread along a couple of quiet roads, that were very well lit at night. There are no pavements, but the traffic that uses these roads is used to having pedestrians sharing! There are lots of tavernas to choose from and as previously recommended by others Salt and Pepper is lovely - classier than most, but still not too expensive - plus it takes credit cards, not something that most tavernas do.
The beach is clean, quiet and has good facilities, but is about 15 mins away from the studios. Christos is happy to take you to his family beach in his mini-bus, which we did not use, but others did and said that the beach there was beautiful.
Christos is also happy to take visitors into Shiathos Town in the evening for a very reasonable charge and will pick you up later on. There are no facilities to withdraw cash from a bank or cash machine in the village, so it is necessary to go into Skiathos where there are a couple of banks and cash machines.
Skiathos Town is very busy down round the harbour where the ferries come in at regular intervals and there is lots to watch.
All in all, a very good choice if you are thinking of visiting Skiathos. We will definiately be back, but for two weeks next time as a week was not really long enough.
We could not recommend Filia Studios highly enough.

just returned from a very relaxing holiday in skiathos,,stayed at the filia appartments/studios for 1 week, what can i say,, the studios are run by a very friendly hardworking family who will do everything they can to make your holiday an enjoyable one,, the studios are in an enviable position away from the road surrounded by beautiful flowers/plants and the best view ever to sea and over troulos. Filia, christos family and staff work hard making sure everyone is happy,,the appartments are clean, basic but have everything you need for a sc holiday. clean towels and bedding regular, very clean pool area and a lovely bar/restauraunt area which is run by filia and christos, we made many good friends chatting with the other residents and enjoying the greek night where the food was amazing, also enjoying breakfasts continental or full english if required, Christos made everyone feel more like a friend than guest and made his minibus available for trips to town/beach if required which was a lovely welcoming touch. We very much enjoyed the company of Christos, Rebecca and filia when chilling out at the appartments and on evenings when we ate at the studuios, and at another amazing taverna, we left skiathos with many memories, laughs and many new friends. We will return to the filia appartments/studios next year. well done to all at the filia we will be back, we found a little gem of a place on a beautiful island ,thanks carol brian and sami

We returned recently from a really enjoyable week here, and can thoroughly recommend it to couples and to those with children. If you're used to up-market accommodation in Majorca or the Algarve, then this is not for you. But:
• the Filia cleans your room every day,
• the hot water and air con are reliable, and...most of all...
• the owners are brilliantly helpful. This includes taking you into (and picking up from) town at a fraction of the taxi fare, advising on sites to see, tavernas, etc.
• The pool is clean and spacious with comfortable loungers
• Good English is spoken
• Bar-b-q nights etc are arranged, so that its easy to mix with other guests
• Shops and tavernas are 3 mins walk, Troulos beach 10 mins

Room Tip: Upper floor gets a sea view
