“Basic hotel on one of Crete's best beaches”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

Pros:
-The hotel is located in arguably on the best beaches of the island
-The pool is pretty nice; it almost feel s like an overkill compared to the Spartan rooms
-Nice sea views
-Decent breakfast with home-made yogurt
-Rooms have AC, half-size fridge and complimentary Wi-Fi
-A bit of the beaten path so it’s somewhat isolated and quiet; you need a car to go anywhere

Cons:
-The rooms are very basic and you feel like in a box due the lack of windows and have barely any decoration
-No TV, no telephone
-Bathroom was small, had only a hand shower and no curtain so the combination of both caused it to get flooded every time we would take a shower. As mentioned in another review in French, albeit not strong enough to reach the bedroom, there was indeed bit of stench inside the bathroom
-It can get very, very windy on the Falassarna beach and that can last for days

Service:
The owners were in general nice, specially the parents; however, the attitude of their children (who also run the place) changed quite a bit when we informed them that would need to leave half day earlier due to logistics reasons (had to catch an early flight in Chania so it was better to spend the night there rather than waking up at 4 am and drive there). As such, since we had to leave at around 6 pm, we offered to pay half the daily rate. I understand the lost some revenue (only half a night) but on the other side we spent extra money on the hotel at the restaurant, laundry service and the like, so I felt they bad attitude they gave us was unwarranted. This was the last impression I took from the hotel, which was admittedly a bitter one.

Overall: I would go back to Falassarna beach but would try the other hotels in the area, whose room seemed better equipped

Advice: Try going on a day trip to Balos and Elafonissi beaches

Dear Canucglobetrotter

Your feedback regarding our hotel is really importand. We always are open for things we need to impove in our hotel and in our restaurant as well. I am certainly disappointed that your stay was not all that it could
have been.

I would like to apologize on behalf of the hotel and its team for your stay.
About the TV and telephone service you are right but is impossible for many reasons. Oour rooms are built in 1999 and had been renovated twice from then. Unfortunatly there are no lines for televition but if can be a small family hotel like ours is impossible to efford one service which only 5 or 10 coustumers can aske for during the summer time. The last year we had print a question lelflet where our coustomers answer about thinks like that due to our planning renovation 2013 - 2014.
Moreover, as I mention due to our small number of rooms we can have laundry service. Even in our web site is written that. We never say that we have laundry service and make us feel uncomfortable every time some of our coustomers ask for services we don't have.
We strongly belive that the price for your room 46-48 euro (included breakfast) it wasn't excessive. For this reason and because the EOT (National Greek Tourism Service) allows as to get half day payment for departure after 6 o clock in the afternoon.

Please do accept my apologies and I do hope you visit Falasarna again.

Wanna fresh fish, pleasant warm wind and best sunset a front of you? Panorama deserves it's name absolutely! There are no tricks, if fresh fish is sold out they'll honestly say that to you. Other food is superb too. The owner is actually one of the most honest people I met in my entire life and I'm an old wolf, trust me :) I respect him so much. I've been several times there as I'm doing a lot of trips in the area and EVERY time this was a perfect place to visit at any point. Sunset is "all the money" and it's spectacular, every day so different.. Really "must" if you're planning to visit West Crete. DON'T forget camera!

We stay in the hotel in September 2012 after oour beach wedding in Agia Gallini. We enjoyed our honeymoon thoroughly. The hotel itself is literaly almost on the beach itself. We had an amazing sea view from our balcony. The room was not very big, but adequat for a couple. The breakfast was very good choise and nothing is too uch trouble for them. The room was cleaned every day and wifi is complimentary. We stayed here from 05-11th September. On some of the days it was very windy on the beach so we decided to have a lazy day and were hanging around all day. The swimming pool of the hotel is not heated, but it is a good alternative when the sea is very wawy and wit is windy. If you stay here, a dinner in Zachintos taverna is a MUST! The portions are huge, that you can't manage to eat everything you order, the price is very very reasonable and Foti the owner is amazing. If you are planning a day trip, go to Elafonissi - but don't take the short cut, as it is very dangerous-we had turn back as we didn't want to risk. There is a longer way to get there as well, but you feel in your car more comfortable when you take that road. On the beach of Falassarna you have to pay £3 pound to rent a comfortable beach umrella. the only donside was our bed, which was only a double bed - and as we had a super king size bed aat home, that was a bit of a big difference. But we survived :-D We will definately return soon in 2013 and can recommend the hotel to everyone, who would prefer a more quite hotel without the noise and troubles of all those big hotel resorts

Perfect for location, welcome, food and wow what a view! Spacious rooms well maintained and clean. Large balconies with sea views. Wonderful warm welcome from Vasiliki Tsalapaki and incredible home cooking of tasty Cretan food. Panorama hotel and restaurant has a quiet location overlooking one of the best beaches in Crete and also has a large pool. We return year after year wouldn't go anywhere else.
See you next year!

As indeed mentioned by other guests, egoistically we should keep this recommendation as our secret, but we simply believe travellers with a similar view to the perfect vacation should have the same opportunity of enjoying the hospitality of the family Tsalapakis.
Panorama Hotel is a lovely, small charming hotel with a spectacular view and a big beautiful pool.
The rooms are spacious, simple, very clean, with airco and balcony. Delicious food and tradtional dishes.
Excellent service ! The hotel arranged a pick up service by taxi at the Heraklion airport (3h drive) You always can eat/drink someting, all day round. We arrived, at midnight and the owners prepared an excellent meal "à la carte". We would recommend a car in order to visit but if you prefer a relax holiday on the beach and near the pool, no car necessary !
We stayed one week with 2 teenagers and ALL enjoyed our holiday very much. We will return next year !

We stayed here for 2 nights in September and had one of the 2 sea front facing rooms with the best view of the sea - ask for room 5 or 6. The room was basic but clean and pleasant, the balcony was big and the family were lovely and very friendly. There are only 10 rooms, so no huge queue for breakfast which is served outside on the terrace. The beach is a few minutes walk away and is HUGE and a great place to relax. We would definitely go back there again. We didn't use the swimming pool as we were so close to the sea, but for some people I am sure this is a bonus. Great value for money.

We are presently on a 2 weeks stay at the Greek family driven Panorama Hotel (www.falasarna.gr) just next to the magnificent Falassarna Beach on the Greek island Crete.
This is our second year in row we stay here at this very personal and friendly family Tsalapakis, who also speaks English.
The hotel is a pearl, a quiet oasis, situated just next to the fantastic Falassarna beach. The hotel has around 20 rooms most on them with balcony with sea view and air condition. Our room is furnished in traditional Greek style, has refrigerator and wifi-connection, and bathroom with shower. The cleaning standard is high with daily cleaning.
Despite the proximity to the beach the hotel also has a large swimming pool and spacious pool area with good quality sunbeds from where we can enjoy the sea view to the west.
The hotel restaurant downstairs is a pleasant experience in itself. The wife of the house is cooking all food herself with olive oil from their own production. Local, traditional, Cretan specialities, made from basic with good price/performance ratio. The breakfast is also plenty with homemade juice and marmalades.
This is quality time for soul mates. This hotel is perfect for people seeking the quietness and time for relaxation and reflexion. The joy of early morning or evening swims in the sea, book reading or just letting the day passing by, and spectacular beautiful sun sets at night sitting in the hotel restaurant with a view to the sea.
Egoistically we should keep this recommendation as our secret, but we simply believe travellers with a similar view to the perfect vacation should have the same opportunity of enjoying the hospitality of the family Tsalapakis.
