You can only be left in awe at the achievement of building this. Make sure to go down to the bottom of the well (a torch is handy) and leave enough time for the museum.

Large archaelogical site (needs 1-2 hours) with a small museum you should also visit... Don't forget to go to the Arcadic arcade too!

I had not been aware of Ancient Messini until I began researching my trip to the Peloponnesus. It is a complete city, still in the process of being excavated and very large! The museum was worth seeing with the only downside being they were out of souvenir guide books for the site in English. A lack of funds likely the problem. This is a stellar archaeologic site to visit and one definitely worth the trip there.

Ancient Messini is a huge archeological site, with a theater and, most impressively, a stadium flanked with rows of stately columns. Not many people were there when we were, just some friendly staff members who were still excavating a part of the agora. Probably, it would not make anyone's list as a destination on its own, but it is well worth a side trip if you are in the neighborhood.
