Just returned from a wonderful week staying at the Alykanas Village. Very clean, good facilities, only downside was the obsession of fellow holiday-makers to reserve sunbeds early in the mornings then not use them for hours on end!
Fabulous location - we had room 124 which overlooked the sea - well worth asking for a room in this block. Hotel clean and rooms were sizeable.
General location is great, very short walk to local restaurants and also short hop along the beach to local tavernas and bars. We don't have small children anymore, but this hotel is well geared up for families.

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor - 121 - 125 - Fabulous views

Recently returned from our second visit to this hotel and as last year we had a great 10 days. The room was clean and the kitchen well equiped and up to usual Greek standards. A tip if you are considering this hotel is to ask for a room away from the bar area, especially if you have young children who need their sleep. The staff and reps are all very helpful and work extremely hard to ensure your stay is a good one. Only one down side is that there are not enough pool side sunbeds for the number of people staying at the hotel and we were entertained daily by the sound of the dawn patrol (from 6:30a.m.) racing to secure their chosen spot. The policy of 'no body' and the towels get taken away seems to have slipped - do as we did and use the pool area on change over days when it is much quieter or go to the beach.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms above the bar / evening entertainment area, also ask for a top floor as the ground floor...

Recently returned from this hotel. We took our grandson (6) away for the first time on his own. He had a ball. The slide pool area was great for kids. The hotel was very clean and the staff always helpful. The rooms were large but bathroom on the small side especially the shower. Thomson entertainments team work very hard day and night, but they are not pushy like a lot of other hotels we've been too. They have a tough time when doing evening Entertainment because the room is downstairs, it would benefit more people if it was on the Patio area or reception bar area,as it does not have a restaurant, people go out to eat so the kids miss the entertainment. The children's evening entertainment is good and excellent on certain nights depending on who is coordinating it, special mention should go to Johnny who works so hard and really has the guests of all ages entertained. You can so tell how much he himself is enjoying it and that rubs off on yourselves as guests. The energy and enthusiasm he gives in that heat is amazing. All in all a really great holiday and hope to go back again.

Location wise Alykanas is a quite tourist town relatively small and about 45 minutes from the airport and the main holiday party areas so don't go here if you are looking for somewhere lively with lots of entertainment. The village Hotel is actually self catering apartments organised in a number of three story blocks around two central pools. We had a studio apartment which was clean but small with a tiny bathroom but was sufficient for our party of two adults and a 7 year old. The room facilities were fine with a fridge, microwave, a two ringed hob and TV. The air con is payable locally at a cost of €5 euro per day and you will need it. Also the safe is €25 euro per week. This adds t the cost of the holiday. The balcony area is a fine size and from what I saw of the one bed apartments these look to have sufficient room and good balcony space. The hotel entertainment is run by a Thompson club, it's very children orientated but we enjoyed it. The entertainers work hard and the kids seem to enjoy the evening entertainment. There are three pools and a splash park so lots of areas for kids to play and plenty of sunbeds. There is a snack bar between the hotel and the beach front which served good snack food (hotdogs, burgers, salads and Greek food). A burger and chips is about €4.50 and a beer is €2.50 so not cheap but not very expensive. The local staff are reasonably friendly but don't get too excited about anything. However the outstanding feature of this hotel is it's location. It's right on the beach front and the beach is one of the safest beaches we have been to. The water is calm, shallow and no currents, perfect for children or the casual swimmer. There is plenty of local restaurants mostly selling Greek or Italian food again not very cheap with typing main meal at €8 with a starter at €4 but good value as we found the average quality pretty good. All in all we enjoyed the holiday and found this a very relaxing quiet holiday. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quiet child orientated holiday and likes to get into the sea for a swim.

Room Tip: I recommend getting an apartment near the beach end away from the bar area as it can be a little noi...

Hotel staff were welcoming and friendly, room was immaculate but freezing cold. The whole holiday me and my daughter had to snuggle in one bed and heap all of the covers from the other beds on top of us and we still couldnt get a heat. Pool was so cold my daughters lips turned blue. The poolside entertainment commenced at 9am right outside our window every morning, the reps squawking through the P.A and playing music from the 60s and 70s.
Evening entertainment was ok, more aimed towards small kids so pretty boring for a 10 year old. Not many shops or eateries opened nearby, more like a ghost town but on a positive note there was no-one to harass you into buying anything or go on a trip.
The Chindian restaurant was disgusting, Apollo was the best, friendly staff and good food.
Was bored after only 2 days and really wanted to go home. The highlight of the week was on day 4 when the cooker in our apartment started sparking and caught fire. Some excitement! The hotel was dead, no surprise why. Cheap last minute deal £250 for 2 of us (not to be sniffed at) which was a great price but should have seen the warning lights.

Stayed here first 2 weeks of July and had a really good time, perfect location for the beach in the day and at night you can stroll out to the restaurant and bars.with us being a young couple with a 5 year old we where a bit worried the resort would be a bit too quiet and not much to do but this certainly wasn't the case(not too loud but not quiet just relaxed).plenty of places to eat and drink and most places had a play area for our daughter which she loved and it gave us time to relax after our meal while she played.water at the beach nice and shallow and warm.my daughter loved the slide park and pools and seeing Thomson the dog most days round the pool.the kids club was good they did something different everyday and even tho we where a little unsure about putting her in there before the holiday we soon changed our minds as she loved going and staff where really good.my daughter loved party in the pool in the afternoon where the reps put the kids favourite songs on to dance to.kids entertainment at 8.30 pm too kept her amused for an hour or so,johnny boycey and Hayley work really hard with the entertainment and the kids love them.weather was amazing very hot not a cloud in the sky.food at the snack bar was lovely too.room cleaned daily apart from Sunday's.overall perfect. Family holiday especially for younger kids.only complaint I have is Thomson say time to the resort by coach from airport to resort is 30-40 mins approx which would be great but it's more like over an hour.i would consider getting a taxi if I went again as somebody said it takes 20 mins by car.

Stayed in this hotel for 1 week in June. We knew it was a family hotel but didn't realise how many parents took their kids out of school during term time. Rooms were very basic, considering 4* apartment, but then this is Greece. What I did like about this complex, you could not reserve your bed, if you had a towel on sun bed and no body, Thomson Reps collected towels and put in reception. All areas VERY clean. Would definately go back there. Bonkers Bar, 2 minute walk away is great. Pavlos & Karen give you a very warm welcome. Reasonable prices for food and drink and lovely pool.

Room Tip: Try to get high room in block 1, Should have sea view from there.
