“Can't recommend enough!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

Me and my mum (i'm 18) have just returned from a week here, and found this restaurant to be the best value, and by far the nicest in the area. We tried to eat at a different taverna each night to get variety. We actually went back to Vrisaki, as we had eaten there on our first night after a VERY long day travelling, and so wanted to appreciate it when we weren't so tired. On returning, the waiter (Aggelo) remembered us, and was more than happy to chat to me in his excellent English (I only wish my Greek was as good!) The atmosphere is great, always busy, but only a 15 min wait for your food after ordering. All food is very cheap, very good quality, and cooked freshly. Also, a free sweet at the end of the meal is yummy! Thanks for 2 wonderful meals, George (the owner) and Aggelo (waiter). See you next year!

“All-round excellence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

We ate at Vrisaki three times - it would have been more but were only in Alykanas for a week :-(

This place is just all round great. Off the main strip so it's slightly quieter in terms of passing traffic etc. It has a lovely atmosphere and was always busy (even when we didn't eat there we had to walk past on our way to and fro our accommodation).

The food is wonderful. Anything from the grill was perfectly cooked and super tasty (I'm a chicken souvlaki addict and theirs was some of the best I've eaten). We also tried, amongst others, pork souvlaki (just as good as the chicken!), Arni en Fournou (lamb in the oven) which was just melt in the mouth and served with oven potatoes and roasted vegetables, and calamari which couldn't have been cooked better.

The portions are very generous, as they seemed to be everywhere; food from the grill comes served with tzatziki (fresh, zingy, punchy with garlic as it should be - why can't I make it the same?!), pitta, chips and salad. If you are very hungry, have a starter each, if medium hungry share a starter, if you are just ready to eat then order mains only!

We were twice given a complimentary dessert - not sure what they call it but it was like the best custard tart ever! On the other occasion were given a glass of Chardonnay - they obviously recognised that we like our wine!

Their house dry white wine, served by the 1/2 litre was extremely drinkable and if you like a dry white they have Verdea (by the bottle) which is also very good.

The service is lovely - the waiters are all so friendly, funny, and efficient and work extremely hard to make sure everyone is looked after. They are obviously happy to work there and justifiably proud of the food they serve.

As I've titled this, all-round excellence and when we return to Alykanas we will certainly make this our first stop for dinner.
