“Superb hotel!”
Reviewed August 7, 2014

Highly recommended!

Excellent treatment from early emailing to departure. We had a wonderful room with an extremely large balcony facing the beach. Very friendly owners and staff. Clean and tidy. Extra plus for the children's' pool where our two-year-old daughter loved to spend her days. We are definitely thinking of going back next year.

Me and my friend stayed in a two room apartment at Phaedra for two weeks in the beginning of July 2014. I had only seen pictures of the hotel on the website and had no expectations when we arrived, so I found myself overwhelmed and really grateful for the personal and very professional treatment that we received from all the staff during our entire stay.
The hotel is situated directly at the beach and is really nice and tidy. A beautiful salt water pool (with showers next to it) and new, fresh sun beds and umbrellas both by the pool and by the beach made a great impression on us. I really appreciated the calm and quiet hotel and beach - no claustrophobic feeling - quiet the opposite, we were the only ones staying at the beach for several days which we enjoyed a lot.
The street outside the hotel leads to lots of restaurants, car hire, supermarkets and other things you might need. The bus station to go to Chania (takes about 20 minutes) is just a few meters across the street.
We received a lot of help with taxi reservations, recommendations for places to go and eat from the owners and staff which was much appreciated.
The apartment we stayed in was big and light, had free air conditioner and had a fridge with an icebox and plates, cutlery and a kettle so there was no problem in making your own breakfast - if you wanted to. There is also a hairdryer, TV and a safety box (for which you pay a weekly fee).
By the pool there is a bar where you can get snacks and smaller meals as well as all kinds of drinks.
I give Phaedra my warmest recommendations thanks to the nice room, the lovely location just by the beach, the friendly and genuinely service minded staff and of course the cutest little hotel kitten that lives there!

Best location - next to the beach with free sunbeds. Swimming pool is nice, clean and not near the road(like saw this in other hotels). Rooms are big, with free air conditioners. The bus stop is only several meters from hotel.
All staff-cleaning lady, the bartender at the pool and Mrs. Georgia are friendly and ready to help. Highly recommend this hotel.

Great place to be. Great people to be with, helpful, real people. Great beach, big, quiet, unique. Big rooms, clean, fully equiped. Great view to the sea from our balcony (especially the front ones). It combines the authentic hospitality of the people with the professional service of a hotel! Owners and staff are very kind and friendly. In general terms, i was excited. I will definitely visit this place in the following years...

Phaedra is a lovely small, quiet hotel in typical Greek surroundings, looking out from our room to the pool and then the sea. The staff are helpful and friendly and the other customers seemed like nice people. Kato Stalos is very quiet with just a few tavernas and small bars. The beach is beautiful. The only problem was on arrival they were confused by who were we were and seemed to think we were due the day before. They hastily found a room for us but after 30 minutes checking out the rest of the complex we realised they'd given us the worst room in the hotel at the back with a very partial sea view and very loud traffic noise from the main road. We asked to be moved but was told there were no other rooms available. I suggested we cancel and find elsewhere and then I mentioned trip advisor.
All of a sudden they managed to find a different room for us, they wanted an extra 5 euros a day but we could live with that. We moved to a room with perfect views and no traffic noise. The shower or toilet leaks and the bedding was only changed once in a week, but apart from that it was very nice.
We visited two restaurants in Kato Stalos, Kosmas which was very nice and Amethystos which was ok, but visited Platanos in Platanias twice, and two beautiful restaurants in Chania , Chrisostomos, and Semiramis. Chania is beautiful is a must visit. We really enjoyed the holiday and love Greece, so hate complaining but it's the little things that make all the difference.

Room Tip: We were in 303 eventually facing straight out to the pool and sea

It's not often that one writes a review of their hotel while they are still there, but Phaedra deserves such a review. It's our second summer here (my wife and 2 children, and my parents), and although I believed it impossible, this year's stay proved to be even better than last years'. As advertised on the hotel web site, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the grounds are well tended and beautifully landscaped and the pool is spotless. The beach is unbelievable, wide and sandy with crystal clear water. There are no hotels directly adjacent to the Phaedra so its beach isn't crowded nor rowdy. The only deception is that although the views from all the rooms are as pictured, they are far more spectacular when coupled with the sounds and smells of the ocean!!! Mr. Christos and Mrs. Georgia are wonderful people and care for ALL of their clients are is if they are a part of their family...sincerely! Kevin tends the pool side snack bar and mixes great drinks as well as mean milkshakes for the little ones. A review is a review is a review, but the true testament of how perfect this place is, is when you return the following summer with an additional 6 people (gang of 12!!!) ..... And they all loved it! For families, couples, and newly weds alike, the Phaedra hotel with its location, grounds, beach, and most importantly, with Mr. Christos and Mrs. Georgia at the helm, is paradise on earth!!!! Mr. Christos and Mrs. Georgia, you have found the recipe to success, don't ever change it!!!!!
