“Average food, but handy for Pousada”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

The Cabritino does well from its location, less than a couple of minutes' walk from the Pousada, and it certainly picks up plenty of business from customers wanting to try something a little different.

Food is limited and of average quality. If you happen to like goat, fine, but even this 'speciality' is not particularly wonderful, tasting like a tougher version of lamb. The main restaurant room is pleasant, well lit (ie not overdone, as in many Portuguese restaurants), and service was good.

This is not a restaurant to rave about, but neither was the experience a bad one. There are other restaurants in Condeixa (eg .Come) where food is better and cheaper - and they have goat too!

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2012

Were we at the same restaurant some previous reviewers visited? O Cabritino looks very nice, with a large well lit room inside and a delightful terrasse overlooking a garden. We were warmly welcomed inside and really felt good, with well set tables and comfortable chairs.
Staff is friendly, but rather innefficient, service is (very) slow, and the food is just OK, but that's it. We had a bland codfish, the local specialty "cabrito" and a normal veal steak. Nothing was bad, but it was only average.
At about 20 euros per person (no wine) I can't say it was expensive.
If I can sum up my feeling in one word, it was a disappointing experience, as I had much higher expectations.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012 via mobile

After such great reviews, we had high hopes of this restaurant. Maybe if you order goat, it's ok? But an average steak and very odd monkfish dish later, we could not agree. The monkfish was particularly poor - incredibly tough, and unlike any I've ever tasted before. Although the setting and atmosphere on the terrace was lovely, we would not return & could not recommend for the food.

“Delicious traditional roast goat in a charming setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2012

We had lunch on a Thursday at O Cabritino, on our way further North. It was absolutely delightful! The traditional couvert, or small appetizers put on the table at the start, were far from average-- chorizo wrapped around farm fresh cheese, presunto and pineapple skewers, olives and paté. Delicious!

We both ordered the house specialty of roast goat, and it was tender with a crispy skin and a slight spiciness that was addictive. It came in one large clay baking dish, which was charming, and although it was a bit warm to sit outside we enjoyed the view very much from the cool inside. The service was great, attentive but not hovering, and he suggested a local dessert specialty I am glad that we tried!

Overall, if you are traveling the A1 in Portugal, this place is well worth the stop off the highway. Better than your everyday restaurant, but maintaining that rustic feeling which is really a part of Portuguese food.
