The villa is beautiful and also the pool is amazing. We hired a car and we arrived the beach und the most interresting cities only by 25 min. Opposite there is a bar which is very cool. And also a restaurant which offers "steak on stone". Jean is very friendly and you will love her house. We will come again...

From my first communication with Jean I knew that our stay in the villa would be fantastic and it exceeded our expectations. Jean gave us so much information on the villa, Sao Bras and surrounding area that planning our stay was effortless.
Jean met us at the villa and gave us a detailed tour. She left us a welcome pack of wine, beer, orange juice, water, biscuits, butter and fresh fruit.
The villa itself is wonderful with so much space. The hammocks in the orchard are awesome and the stone seating areas were perfect for a morning meditation.
The pool was cold, but that did not deter us and once in we did not want to get out!
Nuno was very friendly and helpful, Sao Bras was great and we had freshly squeezes orange juice at Cafe Regional - again very friendly.
We visited Alte as recommended by Jean and my teenage children spent ages exploring the area. They particularly liked the fabulous views on the way up - we stopped several times to take photos!
We hired a car through Amoita which we picked up at the airport and went west to Zoomarine and east to Monte Gordo - both places that are a must to do on your holiday. We swam with dolphins at Zoomarine and relaxed on a superb beach at Monte Gordo. Both are very easy to get to.
I am determined to save enough to visit in August when different fruits will be on the trees in the orchard.
I recommend this villa with out any reservations. You MUST stay here.

Although only a 35 minute drive from Faro, Villa Maria is situated In a lovely rural spot yet only five minutes from the nearest town of São Bras de Alportel. The Villa is really user friendly, well equipped with lots of space inside and out. There is a marvellous wood burner too for those cooler evenings.

Outside there are delightful gardens, a raised terrace with a heated swimming pool and a shaded area for sitting out of the sun while enjoying your drinks. Beyond the terrace lies an orchard of mixed fruit, olive and citrus trees.

A car is a must for those who would like to explore the Algarve. Loule, with its wonderful markets is the old Capital of the Algarve and well worth visiting. Taviira the new administrative centre is an ancient port town with a fish market and many bars/restaurants.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Villa Maria to anyone.

“Wow!”

The villa and grounds are beautiful, very comfortable and luxurious with lots of added extras that you wouldn’t expect, but go to making your holiday that extra bit special. We stayed for just a week at the beginning of November - still sunny enough to sunbathe by and swim in the pool :-) - but would have to say that a week isn’t really long enough.

We chose to be really chilled this time and didn’t hire a car. Almost every day we went for a different walk from the villa to explore the countryside where there was an abundance of different fruit/nut trees and the fascinating cork-bearing oaks – have learnt a lot about this amazing natural product – very versatile.

Next time I go – and I definitely will – I will hire a car as the villa is very well located to explore some great-sounding places. Must make it into the mountains next time. We did make it to Tavira town and Ihla de Tavira, which was fantastic, and we crammed all our souvenir shopping in to a couple of hours at the local town of Sao Bras – walking distance if you’re young and/or fit, or just five Euros by taxi.

You don't need a taxi to get to a lovely, friendly local bar - just cross the road (don't worry though, it's not a noisy bar) and the owner and his family, the prices and the measures will have you returning night after night, even if you're an alcohol light-weight me!

I could say so much more – all good – and I can’t really recommend this place enough. I challenge anyone not to love, love, love it!

“Peace and Paradise in a wonderful rural setting”

We stayed at this villa in late August early September 2013 for just over one week. The villa itself is beautifully appointed, with extremely comfortable and good quality fittings and furniture throughout.
The living area is spacious and open plan, with all kitchen mod cons. There is even a pantry, which already had some essential foods and beverages. Even the fridge had beer and wine in it! The owner clearly thinks of those things that make a nice place excellent when you first arrive. And there a folder of useful information about the locality which was very useful.

The pool and poolside area is stunning in every way, with comfortable loungers and a selection of other poolside furniture. And beyond the pool there is a 2,000 sq mtre orchard which slopes gently up to the hillside beyond, and very good for the morning stroll to pick some fruit..The whole property is walled and fenced, and flowers and bushes abound everywhere - all beautifully maintained.
If you want to relax and avoid the hubbub of the beach and all the associated tourist traps, this place is heaven.
The villa sits by the side of one of the old roads out of Sao Bras De Alportel, and has very near to it two good restaurants, and a local bar, both of which are very inexpensive. Or, a 1.5km walk into Sao Bras De Alportel, itself a very nice rural town.
The kids will love it too because there is plenty of space both inside and outside the villa; and, the electric front gates mean that it is child safe.
I recommend it to anyone looking for peace and tranquility and plenty of living space (both inside and out) in a comfortable unspoilt setting, away from the hoardes.

What a fabulous holiday! We were picked up at the airport by Nuno who runs the bar opposite the villa. He was extremely kind and helpful throughout our stay. Great to have the bar so close with great coffee and inexpensive drinks.
The villa is beautiful; very clean, well equipped and spacious. The garden is gorgeous and there is a very interesting orchard at the top. The pool is amazing and we were very brave and did not use the pool heater!
We hired a car which we would recommend as the road past the villa is fast with no pavement. Having the car allowed us to visit and shop in Sao Bras del Alportel which is lovely, go to the beautiful beaches at Tavira especially Manta Rota and explore the wonderful mountains nearby.
A perfect holiday which we would love to repeat!!
