My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights after having traveled 3.5 hrs south from Lisbon. My initial impression of the general area of Albufeira was that it is very built up with many many many apartments and hotel complexes..majority of which are not on the beach but within maybe 20 minutes walk or a 5 minute drive. In comparison this property however is lovely..situated directly on the coast overlooking the waters below. We stayed in a very well kept and clean 4 level villa (#11) which offered a modern kitchen, lower level living room, rear outside private balcony overlooking the ocean, bathroom with dual shower/tub and double sinks plus a large bedroom equipped with a french balcony towards the front of the property. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and the villa was cleaned every day. The resort during our time there was reportedly at 65% capacity and a waiter told us that it would jump to 90 % the following week. Overall the complex is well maintained, clean and relatively quiet with sun washed white buildings ( yes - some needing a touchup of paint) that clashed with the brilliant blues of the cloudless skies, and blue ocean waters. Man ... I have to say it was hot here!! and so many an afternoon we spent lounging by the large pool which offered cooling respite from the heat and sun which didnt so much burn as it seemingly baked you. Mornings were spent lying about on the beach which is approx 15 minutes downhill from the property and /or beachcombed and walked through many a tidal pool looking for shells or rocks. A person can walk literally for miles here but you have to bear in mind the tides. The golden cliffs intermingled with spoardic green palm & other trees against the blues of the sky and water were just remarkable; distinctly different from other areas I have seen in Europe. I was surprized at how inexpensive it was here to live, with the price of food and wine being really affordable..It was funny to note that a large bottle of beer fetched 1.80 euros while a small can of coke 2..In the immediate area was every imaginable type of restuarant and supermarket a person would need. We did take away food from the onsite restuarant once and found it to be okay (?) On one day we drove to Sagres and went through the fortress, taken back by howlling winds, seaspray in the air and the site of local fishermen standing at the edge of 200 foot cliffs looking down on raging atlantic swells, swigging on a beer waiting for a fish to bite..not the place to hook a big one just saying! Recklessly in my opinion the odd tourist also placed themselves outside the short fence for that perfect shot or cliffedge conversation..not something I would consider at all....for anyone interested this is one spot worth visiting. I would definately recommend Villas D' Agua to others travelling to this area of Portugal. As stated comparing to many other apartment complexes in this area it is a short walk to the beach and offers expansive views of the ocean. It is more than likely that later in the year as the heat and sun turn up even more, so too would the people coming here.
