Adriana Beach Club Hotel Resort
Ranked #4 of 8 Hotels in Olhos de Agua
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 5, 2014

We stayed here for two weeks with our two boys and had a good time. We already knew the site from an earlier visit in 2004 (without kids) and found it nearly unchanged.

The animation is good and the food also but not outstanding.
The beach is only some hundred meters away and the hotel provides sunloungers and parasols at the beach.

The rooms are very small (which was okay for two in 2004 but not for four in 2014). They are well-tended but could be modernized.

Albufeira and Vilamoura can be reached by the hotel's shuttle for free (30-40mins). Vilamoura is also good reachable with a beach walk (~1 hour).
Albufeira is overcrowded with tourists and tourist shops while Vilamoura is nice and pretty but more expensive.

Don't miss the dolphin safari at Vilamoura!

Room Tip: One should book the larger (and more expensive) premium rooms.

I was slightly concerned after reading some of the comments about how we would find this hotel but we've just got back from a really enjoyable 2 weeks. We had a lovely warm welcome & although our room was a tad small, it was clean and comfortable. We stayed in block AA which is nice and quiet, it's just a couple of minutes walk from all the main facilities. The air con was great, we called it the arctic blast. My only criticism is that wardrobe space was limited for three people but we all slept well so can't really complain. The food choice is very very good, I really don't know how there can be any complaints. To be honest at some meal times there was too much choice!!! We alternated in the evening between the main restaurant and The Grill. The Grill also host a BBQ on Wednesdays which gets busy but is worth it. I loved the hot piri sauce and I've not been to an all inclusive where ice cream is available pretty much all day, every day, with a choice of 6 flavours. We also ate in the Portuguese restaurant which was also very nice. We stayed at a peak time, the hotel was full and there was 7 in our party but we never struggled to get a table for us all, we also never struggled to get sun beds. We were going down to the main pool between 8 - 8.30 am, I guess if you wanted specific beds in a specific place and you were in a big party then you may struggle, but we never had a problem, in fact on some days there were empty beds for most of the day, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are big change over days so these days tended to be okay. The animation team worked hard all day and at no point did they look fed up, hung over etc.. There's no hard sell for you to join in and there's loads going on. The aqua fit class was great with practically half the hotel taking part, it was good fun and got u off your sun bed. We also enjoyed water polo, water basket ball, step aerobics and Latin dancing/Zumba. The Latin dancing classes were great, they gave you a feel good factor. The club dance is good fun and young and old join in. I only have two criticisms, one we never saw any of the later evening entertainment because there isn't enough outdoor seating inspite there being a big area by the gym entrance which could have easily accommodated 20 more tables that could have been packed away again at the end of the night (there were loads of people sitting around on steps, which doesn't look great). The other issue is having to show your room card for drinks and food (not mornings). I couldn't get my head around it because we all had wristbands so I'm not sure why this was a necessity, why have wristbands??? The singers that they had before the mini disco were a nice touch and it was nice to have a relaxing drink before our evening meal listening to them. The beach area is fantastic with steps down that can only be described as a work of art!! It's a pity there aren't any toilets, snack bar etc.. It would be perfect if it had a couple of basic facilities. The walk to villamoura is worth it, we loved it and walked along to it on several occasions. People have been moaning about other nationalities but I thought it was a great mix and believe you me having no Russians was an absolute pleasure.
My only other issue that I had was about the pool towels, you had to pay 1.5 euro to swap them. I don't mind paying a 10 euro deposit and I don't mind restricting the times you can change them (if there are concerns about the environment) but I've never had to pay to swap them and this was a bit of a gripe of mine, all inclusive should mean that.
Overall this was an excellent family holiday and the hotel is every child's dream. The animation team were brilliant with the kids, dressing up as pirates, super heroes etc...playing party games with them, teaching them dances etc.. I wish I'd been 7 again, there's a games room, reasonably priced shop, mini disco, icecream on tap, burgers and crisps available in the afternoon what more can you want. I had three teenagers with me and they've loved it.
I have no hesitation in recommending this place and it's definitely one that we will go back to in years to come, we like trying different places but will keep this in the bank. Great food, great people, great facilities, great location, what more can you ask for

Room Tip: Don't be put off if your in block AA or AB, it's very quiet and not too far from the facilit...

I visited the resort for a week with family friends and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Especially the activities that were run during the day, there was a big variety if activities and had activities aimed specifically for children. I know from experience that I personally enjoyed archery taught by Armando. He never did stop smiling so we named him smoky Armando! The whole team that run the activities were called the animation team. The manager of the animation team David was a favourite of mine and a great dancer they held very well choreographed show in the evening with a disco which we all thoroughly
enjoyed. The staff were all ever so polite and helpful and we never had an issue with any situation. The resort is great for families and couples it can cater to all needs! Great stay I would visit again for my next holiday!!

With a family of 5 we stayed a week in this fantastic resort nicely located right at the beach. Well maintained property, lots of green gras, trees and sun chairs. Two very nice pools, good food and above all, an inspiring, always motivating animation crew! Thanks Armando, Tibo, Maxime and others.

I loved this hotel, and Albufeira! The personal were lovely and really helpful in every situation. The rooms were nicely decorated and cleaned. The animation-team held different activities throughout the day, danced with the guests during the evening and held different shows at night. I can't complain about anything, I really loved my stay in this particular hotel!

We spent two lovely weeks in Adrian Beach Club and the final reflections are very close to ranking the place as perfect leisure opportunity.

Pros :
The resort is located in wide area which gives you a real feeling of freedom, offers some space for walking and feeling more like living in set of houses surrounded by neatly prepared and serviced garden. Everything is organized in quite in 'guest-friendly' way which makes it really easy to adopt quickly and makes you feel like you know the places for ages.
Lots of leisure activities : two pool areas ( one with animations , second one close to grill smaller but more quite ), lots of sun beds around the pool and on the lawns ( but ...still you have to wake up around 7 a.m. to secure the space for yourself ), tennis courts, bocce / bule yards, table tennis, kids garden, mini-club, tv games room, mini-golf ( extra paid ), gym room, teatro with well performed shows almost every evening plus spa & hair dresser area ( extra paid ) .
The beach has to be mentioned separately - if you are not only a pool fan, this is the place of must-visit type. Picturesque, breath-taking view at the beach is worth a short walk and going down / walking up wooden stairs, sun bed ready for hotel guest free-of-charge ( this, with almost private hotel beach seems to be unique for Portugal ). A 30 minute walk will lead you to Villamoura town with interesting marina.
Two main restaurants : one close to the reception offering wider range of dishes, second - grill closer to the beach area ( limited offer but more cosy and quiet area ). There are two drink bars located close to both pool areas with ready-made AI drinks + extra paid offer. Additionally you can book an evening in Aquarius restaurant where tapas and wine are served and then you are offered almost the same Swedish style buffet as in regular place.
Food - breakfast quite boring despite wide assortment, just nice launch and dinner offers, after lunch buffet offer for those who were late with semi fast food offer, coffee corner with machines ( offering tasteless coffee :). Sparkling wine offered during breakfasts, different varieties of house wine and one sort of ( good ) beer served during launch and dinner.
Drinks - nice set of ready-made drinks available in alcoholic and soft version are quickly served in both bars, far from typical fresh offer but not bad ;)
There is a real good focus put on animation activities and the staff does an excellent job to entertain as many people as possible. Perfect water morning fitness, games and sports animation, really entertaining evening shows. Live shows and live music available almost every evening.

There is a bus offered by hotel free-of-charge for hotel guests travelling every second day to Albufeira and Villamoura. Morning travels have to be booked at the reception, both towns are nice to be visited.
Additional trips and car / motor / bike reantal area avaiable at the reception. You can ask for lunch package if you are an early traveller.

Cons :
Room standard : Our perception of the room quality was **+ vs **** stated. After complain made we were offered a room of almost the same standard but with slightly more space, this time enough for 2 adults with ids. In the first one the kid's bed was located in the leg end of twin adult beds.
Wi-Fi - Extra paid ( 10 hr - 10 EUR ), not stable in rooms, practically securely accessible in reception area.
All inclusive confirmation : despite the fact that each person gets a bracelet you are forced to conform every purchase with your hotel electronic key which makes the thing really annoying.

Room Tip: it seems that different buildings are offering slightly different standards. We visited K & L a...
