The hotel was situated only 10 minutes away from Olhos de Agua, which was absolutely beautiful. The hotel itself was very clean and although basic (for the price it's a bargain!), and the people who worked there were lovely, always around to help you out if needed, especially Paul and Lucas (who waited up till 3am to make sure we checked out okay) who did all they could to help you get around.

The pool was a decent size and there is free wifi available but it was a shame that the wifi didn't connect in our rooms. The breakfast, although basic, was good value for money as it only cost 2.50 euros per person which I think is a bargain. The hotel is located quite near to all the main attractions and it doesnt cost much by bus/taxi to get around.

Definitely would come back here again! Definitely worth the money!!! Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the pool.

I have to be honest. Our first impressions of the Agua Marinha were not entirely positive. The apartment’s pool and poolside area looked a bit small and rather limited…like a bit of an afterthought; the hotel’s communal areas were a bit dark and dingy and our room felt slightly tired and dated. We were also a bit non-plussed with the resort. It just seemed to consist of a main road with a handful of restaurants dotted along the way. All in all, not a terribly encouraging start.

And then…bit by bit, during our first day, everything started to come together. The pool may be small, but it was perfectly usable, popular with the residents, and kept in pristine condition. What’s more, the whole pool area was a perfect sun-trap and bathed in sunlight up to 7.00 pm, even in mid to late October. The hotel is also set back around 80 metres from the main road, so the whole outside area was wonderfully quiet. Inside, the Agua Marinha won us over in similar fashion. The room may not have been modern and contemporary, but more importantly it was spotlessly maintained, comfortable and very quiet. The air conditioning is free and the bathroom even had a proper bath! The breakfast room-cum-TV lounge arrangement worked well, even showing Premier League football matches on Sky. Breakfasts were fine. We’ve had more extensive choice elsewhere, but for the money it was perfectly adequate.

As far as the resort was concerned, further investigation, together with some exploration, revealed a road leading down to the centre of Olhos de Agua with plenty of restaurants and a few bars plus a sandy beach and small harbour. All in all, everything you need for a great holiday. For the money, I really couldn’t fault this place and owners, Rosa, Victor and their son Paul ran the place to perfection.

By the time our three days at the Agua Marinha were up we were totally won over. Would we come again? Definitely.

Just got back from our third visit and I must say that after a two year break it was just a good as the last visits. We had an early morning flight so arrived earlier than the advised check-in but this was not a problem. Paul greeted us and offered us the option of different rooms and we chose room 204 where the sun is over the balcony from about 10 am until it set. The room was cleaned every day along with fresh towels (except Sundays). Rosa and her family are all very friendly and you are made to feel very welcome. We ate out in the evenings at either at the Adega where you can get a tourist menu for either 7.50 or 9.50 euro which includes a litre of wine if two of you drinking wine. The Soft Cafe next to Jolly's also has a daily special lunch which costs 7.50 euros.

Nice hotel with the pool. Not situated near to the beach... but there were so many other things to do in Albufeira that we went to beach only 3 times. Staff is very friendly and helpful... Our room was cleaned every day except Sunday.
We had room on the first floor near to the pool and bar. nice room with fridge and kettle.

Room Tip: Take some tours from the tour offices ( there is one good place near to the hotel Riu in Olhos de Ag...

I stayed at the Hotel Agua Marinha in Olhos de Agua for 3 nights in early October.
I dont normally stay in hotels, mostly when travelling alone I tend to use apartments but as this was a good price when I was looking I booked it.

Ideally, you need a car to get around & explore the stunning Algarve, but the couples that I spoke to at the hotel had no problem with walking to the beach or using buses into Albufeira (unlike people who moan about where hotels are situated after they have booked & not checked out on the map where they were)

The hotel is very clean but a little basic in the rooms, but how much do you need for a holiday, there is a kettle, cups, fridge, small LDC TV with BBC world news in English. The beds I found were very comfy & I had a great nights sleep.
I had room 107, it had a really nice, large balcony that was a sun trap from about 10am until the sunset..Lovely.

All the staff were great & everyone staying there was very friendly, helped by the fact that it is a small family run hotel giving a feel of intimacy.

I had a very nice stay at the Agua Marinha & I would definitely consider staying there again.

Just returned from an 8 day stay, our first time in the Algarve.
Booked with Easyjet Holidays and only paid £500 for both us us.
Hotel owners Rosa, Victor and their son Paul couldn't of been more welcoming and helpful. Our ground floor room (4) was very basic but we wouldn't of expected anything else for the price we paid. Our very small bathroom had a shower, toilet and sink squeezed in and was in need of updating. There were some old mould stains around the bottom of the shower and also some white mould marks on the wall above our bed. However, I know some of the rooms don't have this problem. The TV only had bbc World News which would of been fine if the weather hadn't been so bad. Only 2 days of sunshine out of 8, the rest of the days were torrential rain, wind, drizzle and low cloud.
We were also made very welcome by the other hotel guests, many who return year after year. The location was perfect for us, only a few minutes walk to bars and restaurants, around 15 minutes either left or right at the end of the road takes you to a beach. Beware, if you turn right at the end of the main road from the hotel and go to the beach which is left at the garage: the first day we arrived it was sunny enough to take a dip and I suffered nasty cuts and bruising to my leg on the rocks while swimming.
The walk to Albufeira only took us 35 mins and a further 20 into the old town. Busses were plentiful, but in spite of the weather we preferred to walk.
Our favourite cafes were Soft Cafe and Cafe Creme (left at the main road) which were great for coffee and snacks. I wish I could say our favourite restaurant was Portuguese, but unfortunately (maybe we were unlucky) I found the food quite bland apart from the garlic prawns. The best meal we had over the week was at Fratelli's Italian down by the beach in Olhos de Agua. We went there twice, the fillet steaks were great. We will return to Olhos de Agua next year but will pay a little bit more for accommodation. We used Yellowfish transfers to get to the airport and back, they were fantastic. 61 euro return and a free bottle of wine.

Room Tip: Our ground floor room had a few cockroaches on the terrace and lots of wasps due to the over hanging...
