Casa Gonzaga is spacious, well-maintained and perfectly appointed. What is particularly fabulous is that there are four full bathrooms, three of which are ensuite - perfect for a larger group.
The property is in an absolutely ideal location for the town, the beach, superb bakery, market, two supermarkets, and public transport links (bus, taxi and tuk tuk!) to Albufeira and beyond.
There is a ticket shop near the bus stop / taxi rank for booking the myriad trips and activites available in the area.
Ohlos is a lovely town - busy enough to feel vibrant yet quiet enough for a peaceful holiday.
The property manager, Sandra, is fantastic. She is SO helpful and thoughtful and always replied to our queries promptly. She can arrange airport transfers if required. Thankyou Sandra!
The villa is spacious and has a lovely pool and adjoins another villa and overlooks a third in a small development at the side of a quiet road in the town. On the down side is the fact that there is a factory adjacent to the villa, albeit it was fairly quiet. Its only a 10 minute walk to the local beach, a good supermarket and several very good local restaurants. Its only 15 minutes to the main beach and centre of town with all the usual amenities including a good taxi service and helpful tour/travel companies offering local visits to vineyards and other towns in the area. Not so good was the fact that the villa does need some repairs and is pretty basic internally. We did not get to meet the representative of the villa rental company either which we thought was rather poor.
The villa is in an excellent location and has all the amenities you need. My family had a fabulous holiday here and will return next year.
This was our second stay at the Casa Gonzaga and will definitely use again if staying in the area. There are 4 good size bedrooms, three of which were en-suite. Lovely terraces and pool area. The kitchen maybe considered compact, but included everything including a dishwasher, tea-towels, various size crockery and utensils. Sandra provided information about the villa prior to our stay and can arrange airport transfers if required. Sandra also provided contact details so that we could keep in touch with her during our stay in case of problems. There is a small supermarket close to the villa, next door to the spa villa d agua, which sells most basis items, if you require a bakery turn left out of the villa, pass the bins and take the right fork (looks like a gravel track) follow the road to the end and straight across the road is Caffe Creme - if you need a bigger supermarket about a 2 minute walk away from the Caffe Creme (heading towards Balaia) you will find a supermache which will cater for your weekly shop, including meat and fish for the BBQ, there is also another shop opposite the Calheios restaurant, in the opposite direction. If you want to visit the beach use the signs for Passaro Azul, please note that whilst this is the quickest route there is some steep steps and therefore not suitable for people with walking difficulties. Sunbeds for half day 10 euro or 15 euro for a full day, there are toilet and shower facilities at the Passaro Azul. Enjoyable relaxing weeks stay.
