This was our second visit to Quinta das Achadas, the first being the previous year. My husband and I thought it was hard to beat last year's experience but I have to say we enjoyed it even more this year. Jill and Julio are the perfect hosts - warm, friendly and such good fun and we also look forward to the friendly banter with the other guests at breakfast and the evening dinners on the roof terrace. Need I add that the food is delicious too! Top marks! We tried a different apartment this year and loved it so much we booked to go back next year within a day of returning home which is a first for us. As the weather was so good, we didn't clock up many miles in the rental car and just enjoyed relaxing either on the patio or around the pool. However, Jill did recommend an excellent walk starting in Benagil complete with good lunchtime restaurant. We also ate in their recommended local restaurant in Arao - way off the beaten track, an absolute treat and extremely good value. To their credit, Jill and Julio know the area well and they will happily plan your days for you - now how effortless is that! To put our holiday experience at Quinta das Achadas in a nutshell, we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in the Algarve and we look forward to returning on a regular basis.

We stayed at Quinta das Achadas for our honeymoon the month. The location is wonderful and the hosts were very nice. Very quiet and enjoyable place to take a vacation. Hosts were knowledgeable of the area and many parts of the country. We would highly recomend this inn to anyone looking to stay in south Portugal

We had some very relaxed days at the quinta. The setting of the building within the gardens and pool is very tranquil, a wonderful space to hang out during the day or in the evening.

The owners Jill and Julio are very kind, home made dinner on the roof terrace made our visit special. The location of the quinta is very short drive to a number of beautiful beaches and the owners were thoughtful enough to stock the inn with extra beach umbrellas and let us borrow a map during our stay.

This is a beautiful quinta which can only be highly recommended.

I was new to Quinta das Achadas this year (unlike many other reviewers) but liked it enough to go back within a month. So, a first visit with my teenage children and another with my sister. Its appeal, in a nutshell, is its warm, friendly welcome, its lush, peaceful and attractive setting and its rustic but charming apartments / rooms. Clichéd though the phrase may be, this really is home from home (except my home isn't this nice!).

QdA is an oasis in an otherwise dry and rural landscape. Don't even attempt it without a car. Well placed for the beaches and villages of both the south and (far better) the west of the Algarve, it's a perfect base for exploring. It is green, lush and overflowing with flowers that Chelsea would be proud of (flower show, Julio, not football club). But it also offers the all-important (in my son's view) football/ volleyball field, table tennis, football table and fab pool. Complete with all the inflatables you could need.

Breakfast, on the patios, is relaxed and plentiful. From cereals and yoghurt to bacon and eggs - all served with a smile and friendly banter (unless you ask Julio for a boiled egg!). The twice-weekly barbecues bring the whole place together (a little like a ski chalet supper) - with great food, a fabulous roof-top setting and perfect hosts in Jill, Julio and Isabella. It's not posh or pretentious - but it's welcoming and fun.

If you're after something a little different, off the beaten track, with family or alone, QdA is well worth a visit. You'll be warmly welcomed and well looked after - with banter aplenty. Chances are, you'll return.

Schools out - that can only mean one thing in our family - off to the Quinta for the now traditional summer holiday at our home from home. It is hard to explain the immediate sense of relaxation and joy that driving into Odiaxere and up the lane to the Quinta brings.

We have been here more times now than I care to remember but needless to say we have added 2 children to the original 1 we first stayed here with and every year the place gets better. Not only do we feel at home but now we meet up with friends we have made in the unique atmosphere of Jill, Julio and Isabella's home whenever we stay. This year we had met every one of the other guests on at least one previous visit. No other place could combine such diverse groups of people and ages of children and see everyone getting along and making the holiday more than just a break from routine.

As habitual guests I can also say that Jill and Julio never rest on their laurels, each year they have made improvements and changes that make your stay a little different which is terrific. I'm particularly fond of how any left over pudding from the delicious meal the night before appears on the breakfast table!

For anyone who has yet to experience this place it is a family friendly, well equipped central base from which to explore the Algarve. From local towns and villages with excellent shopping and restaurants to the beaches on the west coast.

This was our second visit to the Quinta and, as with last year, we were relaxed and "at home" immediately. Jill, Julio and Izzy are like old friends - not just welcoming but warm, friendly and so easy to be with. We were a party of 7 this year - quite something to find a place that your well travelled kids of 25, 23, 17 and their partners also rate as one of the best places they've ever stayed and all want to come back to next year! In fact we've already booked it! There are no negatives about this beautiful place and its wonderful owners. Nothing is too much trouble for Jill and Julio and we love their laid back style and wacky humour. The grounds are lush and beautiful, the rooms rustic and welcoming, the breakfasts are relaxed and delicious (especially now Julio has his state of the art egg timer!), the barbeques on the terrace are a real treat and extremely entertaining and the dogs are friendly and delightful. Thank you Jill, Julio and Izzy for another wonderful holiday and see you next year!

What a great little oasis outside of Oxadiere. Everything is there for a family holiday amongst flowering shrubs and palm trees. Also a good base for tourism, golf, the beach and Lagos. The owners, Julio and Jill are great fun and set a perfect atmosphere for their guests including two BBQ's a week in which guests sit around one large table and enjoy local fish and meats.
