“Just fabulous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

We had an apartment in the hotel and it was fantastic. The rooms were a good size, the lounge area was really comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. Nice wee kitchen area - not that we did anything more than make a cup of tea or chill the wine for pre-dinner drinks! There was a wee shop just at the back of the resort that sold wine, beer, pizzas, snacks and so on which meant we never left the resort at all.

Really beautiful public areas and the pool was fantastic too. The service was very good and not as impersonal as some of the bigger resorts.

Definitely want to go back.

Please note that we stayed here in June 2011 but the "When did you travel" doesn't allow me to put this in correctly.

I stayed here as part of a golfing group and liked the place. The layout is a little quirky, but the rooms/villas are all roomy and well equiped. It has a nice pool that catches sun for most of the day. However, if you fancy spending a day at the pool, you would need to get down early. Occupancy in the hotel was very quiet when we were there, yet there still wasn't enough sun chairs! There are enough towels, but do not loose the little bit of paper the attendant gives you, he takes his job VERY seriously!!

Overall it's a nice hotel, with a fantastic breakfast. The staff are a little lethargic, but are friendly. If coming back to this part of Portugal, I would definitely consider staying here again.

Full marks to - Armando the pool attendant and the extremely knowledgeable reception staff.

Less than full marks to- The poorer service from the Pool Bar and Aquarium Bar where staff were slow due to understaffing.

Improvement needed in the breakfast room...there shouldn't be a charge for pancakes or the need to request boiled or fried eggs.

If hiring a car, make it a small one as the underground car park has very tight corners.

Overall however this is a beautiful pace.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel are quite near the road, but it's not a big problem.

We stayed in a three bedroom villa on the resort. It was fantastic!! The vila was spacious and clean. The daily maid service was great. My only complaint would be that the bed was really uncomfortable and half way through our 10 day stay, I ended up with the return of an old neck problem.

Both pools were busy - never saw an empty bed at the main one. The staff at the clubhouse pool were very helpful. However, it wasn't an issue for us as we didn't use the pools that much as the kids loved the pool at the villa. Had we not had the pool I would have been unimpressed.

We were there for my sons 9th birthday and when we returned from our day trip, a cake and 9 candles were waiting for us. It was a lovely & unexpected surprise.

We loved the variety of restaurants within a 15 min drive - the downside is that a car is necessary unless you are happy to pay for a cab.

Would happily return to a villa there.

Stayed at a townhouse in August excellent accommodation with excellent facilities in kitchen Only problem we had was no child locks on doors so had to keep an eye on the younger 2 so they didn't get in the plunge pool without armbands but the older 2 loved it in at 8 in morn and 8 at night clubhouses pool area better to get beds never managed to get 1 at main pool forget the idea of not reserving beds it was rife the English are learning off the Germans well,
Eat in restaurant once but quietish and it was a buffet which I am not a big fan of but the standard was good I would say
Main issues for me had to drive to restaurants big selection though, kids club forget it far to expensive and therefore never any kids in the club so no free time for mam and dad and no entertainment at night apart from engelbert on the Piona doing an odd Manilow number but that's not going to get the party started on the whole lovely accommodation just not enough doing for the kids.

We stayed at the Monte da Quinta Suites in July through the recommendation of a friend and we both really enjoyed our stay.

The rooms are excellent, really spacious with a nice balcony, large sitting area and great kitchen. Our kitchen looked as if it had never been used and as the pool bar and local restaurants are so good, we didn't use it either!

The whole place is scrupulously clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. If I had a tiny gripe it would be that there weren't quite enough of them at the pool bar or at the lounge bar. Occasionally the waiting got slightly irritating.

The pool area is lovely, sometimes it got a bit busy and the "no reservations of sun beds" policy was largely ignored. However the pool attendants worked really hard and would move towels from unoccupied beds if you couldn't find anywhere to sit and move beds around so that families could sit together. There is also the large pool at the clubhouse and a regular shuttle bus to the beach.

The resort has just about everything for everyone, you can do as little or as much as you want and it is great for all age ranges.

One of the very best things about the place is that it's only 20min from the airport, so you can be sitting in the sun relaxing with a glass of wine within an hour of your flight touching down!!

second time we stayed at Monte da Quinta. Resort is of a high spec, immaculately kept and the suites are spacious and very well equipped. There are however two things which let the resort down. The pool area is not an adequate size to accommodate hotel and villa guests. There is a shortage of sun beds, leaving us to spend our first day on a piece of damp grass outside the kids club. this seems to be a commonly known problem to the poor reception staff who very politely nod in agreement for the upteenth time a guest complains. what lets the resort down the most however is the restaurant. The buffet breakfast is barely above room temperature. i would not recommend half board at all. Our first evening meal was buffet - it was cool, dried up and unappetising. we abandoned the second night's dining in favour of eating at Sandbanks in Val do Lobo (lovely).
