“First (and certainly not last) time to The Gower”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Blasgwyr. It is difficult to add to the points made in early reviews, the room was large and very comfortable. A sofa in the room was very welcome. The shower was fantastic with large dustbin lid size shower head. The temperature of the water did fluctuate. The breakfast was very tasty and well cooked. My only criticism was it lacked a bit of variety, there were no crioisants or fish (eg kippers) as a change to the cooked breakfast. Laver bread was on the menu but not available. There was a problem 1 day refreshing the room. All minor details that wouldn't deter me from booking here again, however, I think to charge £120 per night, is top rate for a B&B establishment, the little details all need to be spot on.

Really high standard accommodation on the gower. The owner, Dafydd, made us both feel very welcome and the room was finished to a very high standard. The breakfast was great too.

Despite being an 8th Welsh (I think) - I have never been to the Gower - this was a memorable introduction. A spacious room (and yes, the underfloor heating is very efficient and the wet room does get wet) tasty breakfast and talkative host made for an agreeable short break.

Two of us stayed here over a weekend, and had a really enjoyable time in this slightly different b&b. The rooms are very well-appointed and nicely decorated, as is the communal breakfast room. There's all the stuff you'd expect from a good b&b e.g. car parking, tea & coffee in the rooms, nice toiletries, decent breakfast etc. It is also really well located, being just a 20-minute walk from Rhossili beach (and 5 minutes from the local pub).

But the main thing that makes Blas Gwyr a little bit different from the norm is Dafydd, the proprietor (and manager, chef, raconteur and so much more). He basically runs the place by himself, with the help of his teenage children. He is quite simply a great bloke who will do his utmost to make you feel welcome. Some people might initially be taken aback a little by his chatty, forward approach (not always characteristic of b&b owners), but his infectious friendliness makes it difficult not to warm to him.

A few very minor gripes we had during our stay: parts of the room hadn't been dusted in a while, the teacups in the room were removed after we had used them but not replaced, and the toilet paper wasn't replenished. Also, we stayed in the Grug room, which really is excellent and very spacious, but which faces onto the main road through Llangennith. This wasn't a massive problem but it did mean that there was a small amount of traffic noise during the night / early morning (luckily we had our earplugs which negated this issue). None of these problems detracted significantly from our enjoyment.

All in all, this is a great b&b that we would stay in again and heartily recommend to other people. One final tip - the local pub is good but can get busy at weekends. If you want to have your evening meal there, it might be a good idea to reserve a table in advance.

Room Tip: The Grug room is really excellent (and big) but light sleepers might want to try one of the rooms aw...

A very enjoyable, yet too brief, chilled out and easy 2 night break at Blas Gwyr. Accomodation, hospitality and setting spot on! Dafydd a very friendly host with much passion, taking pride in offering guests with a comfortable and memorable stay. Blas Gwyr is evidence of this.
Breakfasts are tasty and plentiful, we were fortunate to have sampled the infamous Glamorgan sausages- and very much hope they make their way to a farmers market across the border some day soon! Diolch, Pob lwc!

Stayed here in November and had best welcome ever. Dafydd couldnt do enough for us. Our room was fantastic. Big comfy bed with everything you could wish for in eg fluffy towels, dressing gowns. Home from home. Visited the local pub with him, which is a must as the locals are very friendly and he knows them all. Breakfast was traditional welsh which was superb. He is an excellent cook. Will definatley be visiting again and highly recommend this beautiful place. Thanks Daf. Will be seeing you again very soon

Within a day of sending the email to Dafydd he responded and was very frienfly and helpfull , We exchanged email's about our arrival time and food as my girlfriend is a vegatarian , No problem as Dafydd has exceptional home made Glamorgan sausages which every one MUST try they are delicious !. When we arrived the welcome from Dafydd was really warm and friendly he showed us to our room and helped us choose a local restaurant to eat in that evening, he even booked the table for us . All was good and the room furnished to a very high standard . Clean crisp cotten sheets and a wonderful wet room with a shower to die for ! . On the Sunday morning Dafydd was as cheerful as ever and cooked one of the best breakfast's we have ever tasted in a B&B . Dafydd is a superb host and really pasionate about what he does he really makes this boutique B&B a wonderfull place to stay . You must visit and enjoy

Room Tip: All rooms are very good
