Interesting experience... Here come our impressions

1. Very easy to find the hotel
2. Parking lot is not big enough
3. Receptionists are not friendly (we met one with friendly face during our 1-week stay)
4. The sea can't be seen from the 'sea-view' rooms at the end of the hallway on the 1st floor
5. Swimming pool is very nice, but the sun chairs are taken as soon as the pool opens
6. Waitresses are not friendly, they look stressed
7. Dinner is good, breakfast is good
8. Weird hotel policies (eg. you have to have your breakfast and dinner at the same table during your stay; you can't put your stuff in the fridge in your room only if they take the mini bar out and you pay an extra fee etc)
9. Gratis taxi boat to Suha Punta (great with kids)
10. You have to pay for internet access

So, as you see we had a mixed impression. It will be a **** hotel by 2014 and it seems they are on the right path, but...

Room Tip: If you paid for 'sea-view', don't take the rooms at the end of the hallway! Specially no...

A bit of a "old communist hotel" on the opposite side of Rab.Very nice view on the city. Some 10 min walk to the city. Although it is a big hotel, service in eg breakfast zone is efficient (quality kind of OK). The room is a bit outdated, but nothing really wrong - the bathroom would need some refreshment. The same holds for the gym / fitness. Wifi in the lobby with varying reception quality.

We stayed at the hotel Padova in the end of October. When you arrive to the island the hotel is easy to find, just follow the signs for the Rab, because there is actually only one main road. There were plenty parking spaces in front of hotel and they are free of charge. The lobby and the reception is huge, but sort of empty and looks like the 70's. But it will be renewed till 2013. The receptionist was correct, though not particulary friendly. We reserved the double room with a park view instead we were given the room in a side tract of the hotel with views of the open sea and the city of Rab. It is worth mentioning that every room has a quite large balcony with a table and two chairs. Otherwise the room was bigger than expected, renovated about five years ago, with a large dobule bed, expandable couch, writing desk, safebox, minibar, air condition and many other amenities. Sleep quality was good, except from a small vertical noise between the floors. The hotel is central heated, but you can regulate the radiator valves so it is not to warm or to cold.
The only option to book the hotel was with half board and we were pleasantly surprised with the variety of food for breakfast and dinner. The hotel was full mostly with German pensioners, so it was very crowded at the start of a dinner at 7 p.m. or around 9 am for breakfast. But the food never run out, they always refill. But the dinner hall looks like a reception area- very tired.
There are also the indoor and outdoor pool. The indoor pool is nothing special, small and shallow and needs to be renovated, but the outdoor pool area is very nice, newly made with lots of sun beds( but not enough for the high season!) and you could still bath in the outdoor pool, though the water was very cold, I reckon colder than the sea, which had about 18 degrees Celsius.
There is also water taxi waiting in front of the hotel, which can take you anywhere you want and the city of Rab is only a short walk round the bay, about 10 minutes, away. In general there are many paths to walk around in Rab.
It is wort mentioning that we had very nice days because of the sunny weather. Around 20 degrees Celsius in the day and 10 in the night and that were the last days of October!
In general it is a very nice hotel for a short stay(5 to 7 days), especially in the time of low season. You can really relax there, everything runs very slow on the island.
Only a few things bothered me about the hotel. For example internet is not free of charge and is accessable only in the lobby. The same goes for wellness part of hotel, it is not free of charge, including sauna and fitness. Otherwise it was great , I recommend!

Room Tip: best floor- third floor (never take the first floor because it is on the same level as restaurant a...

This was our first trip to Croatia with a group of 48 in total.
The hotel Padova ticks most of the right boxes with the exeption of the food which was often cold and somewhat sparce. Although the staff were somewhat sullen and indifferent at times they came out of themselves on the evening of our special gala dinner.
On a more positive note the hotel is ideally situated and our sea view room afforded us magnificent views of the bay. Rab town is Fab and can be reached by river taxi at a cost of 10k or a 10 min stroll along the harbour side is an option. The swimming pool is spacious and there are plenty of sunbeds and large umbrellas freely available.
I understand that the hotel is to be refurbished in 2013 and upgraded from 3 star to 4 star which should mean that pool towels will then be provided. (Currently can be hired for a small charge). There is and indoor swimming pool and small gym.

Room Tip: Select sea view rooms if available.

This hotel is right on the harbour side in Rab a very pretty place. Had come back for a second holiday to see more of the island. being Sept the air con was set at 22, but it proved to be OK, as it was very hot outside. The hotel its self was OK, but very disappointed in the food which was mostly convenience each lunch and dinner. BF was the best meal of the day.
Table clearing was quite slow. The bedroom was OK with a small safe. Very surprised to find no pool towels for guests to use, so had to buy on locally. Pool area was nie and plenty of beds provding you booked it early. PLenty of nice walks along the coast and a ferry to take you across the other side of the harbour, but it only took 15 mins to walk.

Room Tip: Good location

Don't be put off by the dated decor (hotel is being refurbished this winter), we went in May (apparently it gets very busy July / August) and loved it; will definitely be returning.

The catering is aimed at the German package tour market but the staff were very friendly and helpful, views from the sea rooms are stunning and the pool and terrace are pefect for lazy days in the sun.

There is a nice water side bar next door (don't worry - no loud music) and the water taxi to the old town means great sea food is only a few minutes away.
