This is a small, family run hotel as well as a restaurant and I can't wait to get back there at the end of April. We are always made to feel so welcome and have been priviledged to spend a couple of Easters there when there are very few tourists around.
What better than a bright sunny morning with breakfast from Maria and strong coffee from Zak, and a wonderful view. We have been known to spend the whole day there.....but then we just think Batsi is wonderful anyway.

I've been meaning to write this review for ages to say what a nice place the Kandouni is. It's situated at the far end of Batsi beach, away from the town and next door to the Cavo Doro restaurant. There's a shady eating area at the front, overlooking the beach. George is in charge of the day-to-day running of the place and he's a friendly, courteous man. His mother does the cooking, so it's all home produced - her moussaka in particular is excellent, and the Greek salad with local cheese is a good eat. The food's not gourmet standard but it's plain, delicious and good value. There's a little bar next door owned by George's sister and her husband - it's nice to sit there in the evening, having a drink before heading off into town for dinner - or, if you're tired, just going next door!
This year (2009) George put some sun umbrellas and loungers on the beach; when we were thre in June he wasn't charging for their use, although you were expected to buy adrink from the bar - noty a problem! - it was nice to have one's morning coffee or juice brought out!
There's also accommodation on the first floor of the building - we've not stayed there but I'm sure it's nice.
Basically it's a nice friendly place to spend a lunchtime or an evening - we've sat in there for more hours than anywhere else on our trips to Batsi, and we're already looking forward to next year's visit.
