“unusual beach”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

This beach is unusual in that it has a river flowing onto it and a palm grove at the rear of it. To get there most people have a long hike down the cliffside. We, however, went by boat as part of a day sightseeing trip. Much easier!

“Loved the beach, loved the forest walk, loved the boat trip to it!!!”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

We travelled from Rethymnon to Plakias by public bus via the Kourtaliotiko Gorge. An amazing joirney for 4.50 euros. We then took a boat from Plakias around the stunning South coast of Crete to Palm Beach, Preveli. The scenery is stunning and you also see Gavdos Island. the most southerly point of Europe.

Preveli - relatively cold sea, even colder freshwater river, boiling hot sand, walk up the forest to bathing places in the river or walk up the cliff to the monastery for history and incredible views.

Its a wonderful day out. We will do it next year for sure and the welcoming captain of the boat with his fruit juice and raki made it a day to remember.

“Lovely beach, calm sea”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

We parked up after visiting the monastery, in a car park about 1km back down the hill. Be aware that there is a fair trek down to the beach - we counted 450 steps. There is some shade amongst the trees, which was welcome, while the river allows a different swimming option. The sea was lovely to swim in at Preveli and it was mostly sand underfoot

“pretty beach but not sure if worth the climb”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

Had lovely afternoon on prevali beach but it was a bit of a hike there and back to get there. Not sure if its worth it if you have not come from nearby. We preferred the beaches on the north near Bali. however a few boats looked like they had some good trips that may be worth considering if you are going there!
