The rooms are just great.
The view is beautifyl.
The people are caring, friendly, very hospitable, and will do their outmost to help you.
And the food... Oh my god... What an experience!
I always recommend people that visit our winery to stay there, and treat themselves a great dinner.
It is also great for families!!

If you want to live Crete you have to experience Katalagari Suites!! My friend and myself had the pleasure to stay in this fantastic hotel for 5 days in June 2011. It was really a great experience. Far from the touristic spots...we enjoyed the peaceful situation, surrounded by mountains and olive trees. It is the perfect place to relax! Hold by the owners family their self, they take really care about details. The food is delicious and the people very nice and friendly. Everything homemade. The rooms (suites) are big and comfortable. They also have really nice apartments for families.

My husband and I had the pleasure of finding this tucked away gem while visiting his brother in Crete. We tend to dislike the tourist traps of Crete and prefer something a little off the beaten track.

Katalagari was truly magical in every way. The attention to detail was evident throughout the complex. Our room was spotless and very comfortable with every commodity thought through.
The food was delicious - all home cooked and made to order.
The pool area is beautifully set up overlooking the mountains.
This place is still quite undiscovered and to be honest I would love it to stay that way although they really deserve to have full occupancy too.
Can't recommend highly enough - do yourself the favour. You won't be disappointed ;-)

I have now stayed at Katalagari Suites twice--in July 2009 and again in May 2011. It is perfect! It is a beautiful set of villas overlooking a valley of olive groves. The only thing more beautiful than the view is the service! Each member of the staff makes guests feel like they are truly at home (so long as your home would include a fireplace in your suite, a great balcony, and a wonderful pool). The food is also amazing, much of it coming straight from Katalagari's own natural garden. The staff is eager to include anyone who is interested in a lesson on how to prepare whatever meal is at hand, and this was a great cooking lesson. I could not recommend Katalagari more! This place is very special. Check it out if you are looking for a quiet getaway in Crete.

My partner and I (in our 30s, and from Finland) stayed here for two nights during the last week of May. It's a fabulous, newish hotel in a very quiet spot in the hills away from the hustle and bustle of Iraklion. The room we had was very spacious and tastefully decorated, and the service was great (never in-your-face, but really personal). The owners have clearly invested both time and money, but also a great deal of thought into creating a relaxing experience for guests. There's a lovely pool around which are plenty of free sunbeds, and the hotel is in easy reach of several vineyards in the local area for wine-tastings etc. Keep in mind that there are no amenities in Katalagari village, so a car is essential.

Best of all was the food. For about 30e a head, expect an amazing 3/4-course meal of home cooked food, including good wine. One sugestion to the hotel would be to have wireless internet available for guests, but then again it's the sort of place where you don't want to be checking your email.

Thoroughly recommended and we'll be back again one day!
