“Top domestic cuisine”
Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

Great domestic food, great service, wonderful surroundings, acceptable prices. What else to say about this small family run restaurant? Maybe good to mention that there are well known vineries in the neighbourhood (Kozlovic, Kabola...), and you do not have to worry about your business emails (no signal). Enjoy!

“Top Istrian cuisine”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

Positioned some 10 miles off the coast, the place is not easy to find. Located in a green valley below ruins of a medieval castle the house appears modest and hardly inviting. But once you take a seat, the feelings start to change.

Settings are simple - it is a "konoba", not a luxury restaurant. Enough place on the terrace to accommodate up to 100 people when fully booked, just a few tables inside for the far fewer visitors in the colder months. Bathroom neat, but might be a problem with a full house. Service is warm and helpful. Wine list does not exist, but the ladies of the house have an almost complete choice of Istrian malvasia and teran at friendly prices.

Last and foremost. Food. It can not get any better when you are discovering Istrian traditional cuisine. Try formidable garlic soup, delicious pljuvanci pasta with black truffles, magnificent beef tagliatta, apple pita (strudel, actually). Definitely 15+ on 1-20 scale.

Highly recomended to all gourmets! Take two hours plus of your time, it's worth it. Prices very acceptable considering quality. You are unlikely to come across the usual herd of bus tourists looking for cheap & abundant. Once you finish your lunch, proceed three hundred yards to the new cellar of the Istrian wine pioneer Franko Kozlovic and try his excellent malvasia.
