If you’re looking for a small and friendly hotel, at a good price – then this fit then Pardalakis fits the bill!

Stelios, Anna and Yannis will welcome you with open arms, and make you feel right at home. They treat you like one of the family.

The hotel is small and basic – but remember this is Greece!

We were in the old block, which didn’t have air-conditioning – but they were able to give us fans for the room, and it was so safe we used to leave all the windows open. We had the usual in the room – kitchenette and fridge, and a small hob (who wants to cook on holiday???? Esp when you can sample Anna’s home cooking. The hotel is clean, and well maintained.

We ate in the hotel quite a lot as Anna’s cooking was lovely, and there are lots of good restaurants in the area. As you would expect the Greek salad was beautiful – and very plentiful - we used to share it between two. All drinks, food and ice cream were chargeable, which having recently been on a budget all inclusive I think this is preferable as the prices here are NOT expensive and you get proper brands!! Far nicer than having everything included but getting inferior products!

To make life easy – we used to run a tab all day and settle in the evening. It saved us having cash, the children could go and get drinks (including our beers and G&T’s) and the hotel/family/Stelios didn’t have to worry about finding change. I witnessed a man buy beer for €3 and give over a €50 note, and then go back ten minutes later and do the same again! This is a small family run business, and anything you can do to help – they appreciate!

There are some great restaurants in the vicinity – mainly on the beach, which is a short walk (10 mins). And the family don’t mind if you don’t eat there.

The hotel is on the main road, so lying by the pool you did get a little traffic noise, but not that much. We were there for a week – and stayed around the pool every day, so it wasn’t that bad!

They put on a greek night every Friday – which is great fun!!!

I have to say we had a great holiday here, and yes if there weren’t other places to go I would certainly go back – as it appears many, many people do. When you arrive you are warmly welcomed and introduced to the family, and when we left – we felt like we were part of the family.

I whole heartily recommend Pardalakis and cannot thank Anna, Yannis and Stelios for their hospitality, Yannis for the fresh figs - which were BEUTIFUL and for my birthday cake – that I think Stelios had to go out on his scooter to get. Apologies – this has taken me a whole year to “get around to”.

Room Tip: The rooms in the new block have air con, and could probably accomodate a family. Had we seen them e...

My partner and I have just spent a week at Pardalakis apartments and had a wonderful time. The village location suited us as we didn't really want a party place full of loud bars. I lived in Greece for 12 years and loved that the village was full of local people that I could practice my Greek with in the shops.
The family was great, very helpful and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the old block in room 4. I had read that some people had bad experiences in the old block, but I can promise that our room was lovely, as it seemed like they had recently refurbished it as it was new with good kitchen facilities. Maria, the cleaner is very sweet and came in at least 3 times to clean.
Anna, the lovely Grandma of the family, cooks truly delicious food and we paid on average 6 euros each for meals that were authentic and filling.
It is a short walk to the beach with a slight uphill climb back but the beach is worth it. Up until the end of the week we had the beach pretty much to ourselves. So peaceful.
A must is a visit to Hania. It is so pretty, much like a mini Venice. It only costs 2 euros single to get there and the bus stop is about a five minute walk from the apartments. Be careful coming back from Hania as if you don't know Greece well, or the chaos that often reins, you will be totally confused as you try and find the right bus back to Gerani!
We really could have done with another week as I wanted to visit some mountain villages. It is really worth delving into the Cretian lifestyle and getting off the beaten track.
The only negatives are that there is a motorway not far and it has relentless traffis 24/7 which could be heard from our room, as well as the traffic noise from the main road through Gerani. The room was also very hot which sometimes made it hard to sleep well. We had to leave the windows and door open on several occasions which is not advisable!
All in all a great holiday. I would have no hesitation in booking another holiday there.
Evharistw yia tis wraies diakopes mas! (Thank you for our lovely holiday!)

Firstly, the family make this place. If you don't want to socialise with the staff or other holiday makers then its probably not for you. The rooms were very basic ( even the new block) but were kept clean (we're a messy pair). But the beds comfy and s nice balcony where you can see the sea in the distance. The staff are very friendly and I enjoyed watching all the kids who weren't here all the time. The resort is pretty much of a muchness. We suggest getting a car and visit as much of the south side as possible. Absolutely loved it

As returners, there were no surprises, although they are refurbishing the apartments steadily. We, however, had an old room which had not been refurbished. Room no. 10 it is on the first floor and has two balconies: one with a view down to the sea and the other looking up towards the White Mountains. There was a through-draft so even though it was very hot, we were able to sleep at night. The shower room and kitchen area do need a bit of tender loving care but they function perfectly adequately. The apartments are on the main road just outside the village so you are fairly set apart from the bustle. We always take a car and tour around the North West of Crete which is extremely beautiful. Try the delicious honey pastries in the cafe next to the old olive tree in Vouves. The family are very friendly and helpful and Anna cooks delicious meals including her stifado. All in all we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves and we will go back.

Room Tip: A/C only in the new block. Refurbished on the ground floor of the old block. Good views from the f...

We stayed here in July 2013. We had a 1st floor apartment in the old block (room 8). Good bits, lovely family, decent and well priced food-we didnt do the Cretan night as we thought it was over priced. The pool, pool area, pool bar and gardens are well kept. The room had no air con so there was no escape from the heat-luckily there were no mosquitos and we could open all the patio doors and put the cutain across, but it only really cooled down briefly at 6-8am. The traffic noise sounded more like aircraft-weird! and the traffic is busy all night-lots of broken sleep. The beds were a little firm but had alot worse. the rooms were spacious, no wardrobes in the second bedroom, broken shower head and ripped shower curtain, limited cooking facilities, but 2 rings, toaster and kettle and fridge with freezer compartment. no teaspoons, miss match of cutlery and crockery. Reasonable value and 10 mins from Gerani and beach and 30 mins from Platanias-worth the walk for better beaches and more shops etc. The bus to Hania cheap at 2 euros each way, lovely on an evening. The new block apartments are apparently v good and the family are trying to update the older ones. Personally i doubt we would return to Crete as it didnt have the wow or quaint factor and the wine was disappointing. I prefer Santorini.

Room Tip: New block-contact the owners to request direct-these only sleep 2-3.

June 2013
We have just returned from our holiday in Crete and we were located in the lovely village of Gerani, which is ideally situated between the very busy resort of Platanias and less busy resort of Maleme it’s about a 45min transfer from Chania Airport.
Their is a good bus service to Chania town and it only costs 2 Euros one way
We were guests at the family owned Pardalakis apartments and they proved to be perfect hosts, several families were on their third or fourth visit to these apartments and I can understand why. The family are very hospitable and did everything to make sure you enjoyed your time with them. The apartments are very clean and fitted with the basic but adequate self catering facilities there is no oven but a cooker ring, fridge and a kettle.
Who wants to cook on holiday when you can enjoy Anna’s home cooked meals in the pool bar? We can recommend the Greek evening for a good nights fun and entertainment. The pool is good and does have a shallower separated children’s section at one end.
Gerani has a few small bars and restaurants, if you want more night life the busier resorts of Platanias is a short taxi or bus ride away. Maleme is closer and has plenty of bars and restaurants. I would recommend you venture down to the local beach one evening its about ten minute walk away and visit bar “Kostas” which is on the beach and also try a meal at the hotel complex called Eanthia the beach side restaurant is fairly priced has good food and excellent service
I can recommend these apartments and send our thanks to the family and not to forget Maria the housekeeper for keeping our apartment spotless
