We've just returned from Solimar Aquamarine and feel totally relaxed. We were met on arrival after midnight and were offered food, we declined and asked for water and were imediately brought a caraff. We woke up to brilliant sunshine which lasted throughout our 10 day stay (how lucky were we) and went to the buffet restaurant for the first time - we were pleasantly surprised, there was plenty of choice on each and every meal. Yes, the food could have been warmer, but when your catering for so many people it's difficult. We also liked the length of times you got on each sitting so the restaurant was never over crowded (this was october so obviously busier in the summer months). The staff were always pleasant and on hand to help.

We were booked into a room overlooking the pool and had a seaview which was very nice as I had requested this when booking - we had had to re-arrange our holiday dates due to a bereavement in the family and as I emailed the manager prior he was aware of this - after speaking to the very pleasant Michaelis the manager he upgraded us to a VIP room on our third day at no extra cost. Both the rooms were spacious and cleaned everyday, the beds are very firm which we liked as I have back trouble, and my self and hubby slept well evey night. We had a private pool on our terrace where the cats used to visit us each morning (which I loved).

The grounds are so pretty and well kept, we felt the whole place was kept immaculate. Buses easy to access just outside the hotel. It is a very quiet area, though bars and restaurants nearby were closed due to time of year, we already knew this as we had done our homework before booking and we like quiet places. Lots of cats which made our holiday as we have one back home, they are so friendly and clean, only come to you if encouraged, if you don't like cats this is not the place for you but we couldn't have been happier, I wonder how they will survive when it closes later this week, my husband assures me they will survive like cats do.

To top this off we would just like to say a big big thank you to the manager and all the staff who keep the place so clean and tidy, this is due to all their hard work and determination. Any problems sorted straight away, we would recommend the Solimar if you're looking for a truely relaxed and peaceful stay. Thanks again we will return some day.

Arrived to wonderfully kept grounds/gardens with lovely plants and a swift friendly welcoming reception. The food was of good quality and variety for both a vegetarian and meat eater and served in a modern pleasant restaurant setting. There were always plenty of tables available and they were quickly cleared and relaid once vacated. We were hoping to eat out at a taverna a couple of nights but did not feel the need to. The drinks were all good as well as the alcoholic drinks lager, wine and spirits.

The hotel offered a very relaxing chilled out atmosphere which we don't usually experience from our holidays so it gave us chance to recharge our batteries for once. It is located a few kilometers away from anything which we knew but decided all the good tripadvisor reviews far outweighed this as buses, taxi’s and car hire are easily accessible.

We experienced a couple of very small problems with our room which were very quickly and efficiently rectified after speaking to reception and can highly recomend a private pool room due to extra open space and seclusion.

The housekeepers and bar/dining staff work hard to ensure that the hotel is very clean and tidy at all times.

Everyone in the hotel from all nationalities fell in love with the tame resident cats/kittens which were noticeably clean and healthy , they provided plenty of entertainment and were very popular and they only came to you when encouraged.

If you want a relaxing holiday than this is the place to go but beware there is no entertainment whatsoever (which we knew after research) so don't expect it, just enjoy the peace. We were very sad to leave this place which is a first on holiday but will be going back.

We are a family of 5 and have to book 2 rooms when going away! 1 room is ok but the other is disgusting!! This place is dead!! Nothing for anyone to do!! And the manager is so obnoxious, I feel bad for the staff..... No wonder they have sour faces!! My family are into 3 days of a 7 week holiday and they want to go home!!! Well done solimar aquamarine!!! You get nil point from Scotland!!! The icing on the cake was a member of staff throwing a stone at me!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your comments on Trip Advisor, however my comment is that conversation with the hotel manager (or anyone else) and alcohol consumption does not match.
No comment about the stone...-You reported to us on the 5th night of your stay when you lost your way to the reception and after leaving the bar again for a numerous time of the same day.
Another thing… Google the hotel to its home page to receive information concerning your holiday, before your holiday!

Warm Regards & looking forward to welcome you again in our Solimar Aquamarine.

This is a nice Hotel situated about 2km from Platanias, bus service is right outside and cheap.
The food is nice with a choice of Meat and Vegetable dishes, something for everyone. Some dishes are not hot, but not cold either as other reviewers suggest.
There a a number of cats at the resort that the holidaymakers loved (apart from one sour faced person who looked like she could not enjoy anything for the whole holiday) I hope the hotel care for them during winter, I would hate to think they had an end of season cull as they are so lovely and tame and brought joy to many of the visitors.
Some things were not available upon arrival such as complimentary water, beach towels, and outside lights not working, but one call to reception and all was rectified very promptly.
The room was spacious and clean, good tv, excellent bathroom fittings. The rooms pool area was excellent for the extra room it provided over a balcony, like having a patio with pool (Bit cold but it was October)
The 6.4 earthquake on arrival was fun!
Overall a very pleasant and intimate hotel...in UK terms I would rate it a 3* plus.
The snacks were not great and rarely anything for vegetarians. The drinks were good and consisted of local beer and wines plus spirits plus the odd chaser of Ouzo offered by the friendly bar staff.
Overall, would not have any problem staying here again

Room Tip: Rooms with Pools give a lot more outside area and are not overlooked

Just got back from a lovely hot holiday. On arrival we had an easy process of checking in and got offered food even though the buffet had shut as it was a late arrival. Room was nice with a private pool (well worth paying the extra), very basic but bed was terrible to sleep on. Reception was very helpful with any questions you had. Although not near to town, easy access to busses. Beach very stony but only a minute walk to it. Lots of cats around the place. Food was okay, with a variety on each meal. Wasn't given juices on arrival in mini bar but did have water and tea. Also juices wasn't part of the lunch and dinners, only fizz or water available. Even though it was out of season there were things to do around the accommodation. Although there is a gym, it is very run down and basic, the treadmills and Cardio machines don't work, the dumbbells have no weight sizes on them so its a guess, also the weighted machines are broken either they are too old or weren't put together properly In the first place. Lastly the weighted plates are rusted so be prepared to get rust on your hands. Overall the gym wasn't great but it got the job done. Lovely hot weather and even had an earthquake!

Room Tip: Would recommend paying the extra for the VIP rooms with private pools.
