“Good hotel with just a few niggles”
Reviewed April 30, 2011

stayed at this hotel in late may early june and for the most part enjoyed it. Food was good, if you didnt want to go to the resteraunt at lunchtime you could get freshly prepared salads in the poolbar. The evening resteraunt needed a manager as at times there were peole wandering around having got their food and nowhere to sit this would not happen if people were seated by a manager. We had a room in a blockonthe opposite side of the road and were on an upper floor and the lift was nearly always broken, our room was small but comfortable but some days it was not cleaned until quite late in the day. The staff were lovely and although we did not have children with us they seemed to work very hard playing lots of games ect., I am at the moment looking for somewhere to take my grandchildren next year and amnot sure whether to put this hotel on the list.

I stayed here with my husband & 6 year old daughter in Oct half term. There was nothing left open and the tour operator knew this prior to us travelling from the UK. All the advertised amenities were closed & no sports equipment. The hotel only had 50 guests throughout so space was not a problem. The restaurant was ok although I can imagine it would be a nightmare in high season. We had to lay our own tables several meal times with staff not seeming to care. Thankfully we made friends with other travellers with children & they all played happily together. The lack of facilities in the property was not acceptable & whilst the standard of cleanliness in the property along with the excellent fitment of room and bathroom furniture was great it was lacking if this is supposed to be Platinum in 2011. The swim up room was beautiful however we could not use ours as it had not been cleaned & was full of algae. I wouldn't pay the extra for the swim up rooms here as the main pool areas are lovely & the swim up rooms are not very private. All in all I certainly wouldn't return here. NO entertainment or any advertised facilities in a peak Uk holiday time of half term, lacking in basic service in restaurant & not Platinum.

I have just returned from a weeks stay in this hotel. Staying here late in the seson is not a good idea. By the time we arrived the beach bar and a restaurant was already closed. Two days later the pool bar closed and the entertainment was finished. Poolside beds were being stacked away, lights were not being lit by the beach and waiters at meal times in very short supply (had to lay my own table with a table cloth and cutlery as no one around). The childrens entertainment had all but finished and no childrens club. This is just not what you expect from a 4 star+ hotel.
The grounds are lovely and kept very clean however the poolside sunbed mattresses were filthy and got soaked every time it rained. The pools are freezing therefore usually empty. The food is good and plenty of it, also plenty of choice regards drinks and cocktails. The rooms are Ok it seems pot luck as to what works in your room and what dosn't. We heard some complaints that air conditioning was not working properly ours was fine it was the fridge that was extremely noisy and the jacuzzi did not work. Notifying problems at reception drew a response that it would be fixed after the hotel closed for the season!! This hotel is out of the way a little bit but a short bus ride will take you into the next town or into Chania. Management of this hotel need to realize that holiday makers having paid good money to stay at this hotel and do not expect a reduced service or reduction of facilities. Justifying it by saying "it's the end of seson" is not good enough.

Stayed in June 2010. Lovely modern hotel. I only have 3 small gripes really so I'll get them out of the way first.
1. We booked a family swim up room and was a bit hesitant are there were no pics available for these rooms. Although the room was lovely there was absolutely no privacy. Basically our next door neighbour could see straight into our room as there was no partition, and you had numerous kids running past your balcony all day and getting in and out of the pool.
2. The restaurant for the evening meal doesn't have a waiter or sit down service, so it's basically a fend for yourself frenzy. Dozens of people walking around at the same time trying to find a spare table.
3. The beach bar wasn't open for the two weeks during our stay, so was a bit of a pain having to go to the pool bar for drinks.

Other than that, the food was good and varied, drinks are mainly help yourself (Pepsi, Fanta, beer etc) from machines, at night you can get cocktails and baileys coffee with cream etc... The pool was very crowded but we went to the beach every day where the beds are free and never had a problem getting a bed. Room was nice although not huge had everything you could want, rooms had been renovated with big memory foam mattresses so very comfy. LCD Television, kettle, air con. Free beach towels which can be exchanged as often as you like at reception.

There's about 3 small shops outside of the hotel, and Platanias is about a 20 minute walk or you can get the bus which doesn't cost much.

The hotel has wifi but it isn't free I think it's about 21 euros for the duration of your stay. Safe in the room was free which is great.

I can't comment on the entertainment as it's not my cup of tea, there where lots of kids (even though they should have been at school!!!) So all in all had a great holiday and would recommend for families but not really for couples.

After not finding many reviews about this hotel I was a little worried-we need not have been. The hotel is beautiful, modern, clean and very well maintained.
The rooms weren't huge but this is fairly common in Greece and to be honest apart from sleeping we weren't really in them. The rooms had a good standard of furnishing with empty fridge, safe, shower and bath. My only falut with the room is some outside drying space would have been good-i'm being very picky.
The pool areas are clean as is the pool, you are supplied with towels at reception that you can change every 2 days.
The beach is part sand, part pebble, I would def advise taking aquashoes. As part of the All inc there is canoeing on the beach which the kids dragged us off the sunloungers to do! The other sports inc are tennis, table tennis, mini golf and the gym (not quite what we were used to at home, but if you are a runner then the area surrounding the hotel is great-and flat!).
Our children are 10 and 9 and enjoyed the kids clubs that are run morning and afternoon 6 days a week, their only complaint was there weren't many english children(the hotel is predominatly scandanavian) although we thought that was a blessing!!
The food was very good, if a little samey, but to be fair to the hotel they have to cater for a wide range of nationalities. It was always hot and always a good variety. Lunches were either taken in the resturant by the pool of from the pool bar. At the pool bar they served ready made salads and toasted sandwiches which you could then eat there or take back to you lounger-therefore not missing any sun! If you get fed up with the food there are lots of tavernas along the road from the hotel which were very good (Taverna Small Paradise was lovely, out of the hotel turn right)
We didn't do any of the First choice trips as the rep was a bit of a pain. The hotel reception on the other hand were fab, we did a day trip to the waterpark (liminopoulis) and the hotel arranged a fixed priced taxi and discount tickets for us saving us heaps on first choice.
To sum it up, if you want a relaxing holiday with the option of 'joining in' in a clean well maintained hotel that still feels very greek then you won't be disappointed.
Feel free to contact me if you want anymore info.

We travelled to the resort with First Choice this August. The resort was very well organised and the food quality was excellent, although by the second week did become a little repetitive. The resort does cater for several nationalities and is predominately scandinavian, but all the entertainment and employees do speak good English. The entertainment was a little on the 'cheesy' side, but the kids enjoyed it and also enjoyed the mini disco. They also enjoyed the kids club. Our room was a swim up room which the kids really enjoyed, but be aware that the patio areas are very slippy when you get out of the private pools as both myself and the kids fell over several times. We really enjoyed ourselves and the kids particularly enjoyed the food and drinks and the entertainment. The cocktails were very good too! I was impressed with the room, the air conditioning was excellent and the standard of cleanliness throughout the resort was especially high. On speaking to people in resort who have been to other Altantica resorts we have already booked an Atlantica resort for next year. I would recommend this resort.

The hotel is very good. Every aspect of the service provided was excellent. You want for nothing. I have stayed in three other Atlantica chains and they certainly have a winning formula. One gripe with this hotel, which is relatively minor , was the gym. I booked especially for the advertised gym as I like to work out on holiday. Most of the equipment was out of order and despite requests for it to be repaired they remained broke. This will only effect a minority but none the less should have been rectified.
