Konoba Kasar was expensive but it was a nice treat in a beautiful setting. We were told the Boathouse was 15th Century with a vaulted ceiling made of volcanic rock brought from Cypress. We had a look inside but it was so nice outside that we sat out by the bay. We have one of the best meals we had had in our 2 weeks in Croatia and nice deserts. We had not been very impressed by Croatian wine until this night. We had a carafe of the house wine and it was great and relatively inexpensive. The restaurant is a little tough to find but worth the hunt.

We were looking forward to going to kazar as we had read so much about it. We had passed the Kasar a couple of days previous and it looked very pleasant. It was a huge let down, my wife's steak was cold and tough. All the plates were cold. The chicken I ordered was alright and my sons chicken was ok. The bill all came to 380 kn for 3 main courses 2 beers and a soft drink. The food did not live up to the surroundings, the restaurant was a 500 year old boathouse. Shame.

Went to this restaurant twice for dinner during a week staying in Zaton. Both times the meal was amazing. If the tuna special is available then you should definitely order this.

The house wine (both red and white) was good quality and enjoyed by all.

This is by far and away the best restaurant in Zaton we could find

Formerly a boat house built 500 years ago, this restaurant was the highlight of our Croatian dining experiences. Seated at an outdoor table my partner and I soaked up the sunshine and a beautiful view across Zaton bay as we dined. This is an ideal setting for a romantic meal as you can enjoy watching the boats on their way with the relaxing sound of soft waves in the water nearby. You can watch the little fish and crabs in the turquoise clear water. It is a must that you prebook for an outdoor table. Excellent knowledgeable table service from a senior waiter. Delicious rustic Croatian cuisine. The seafood could not be any fresher! The lobster is awesome! We came across this place by chance, as we had been canoeing around the coast, so thank goodness we stopped in here and booked a table for later that evening! I have ate in many many restaurants around the world and yet we still talk about this restaurant as our favourite.

We found out about the Kasar Restaurant as a result of on line research, and had decided to pre-book our luncheon.
The location of the restaurant is absolutely fabulous, with a series of tables directly along the waterfront in the Bay of Zaton, about 10km north of Dubrovnik.
The roadway leading to Kasar was interesting in its own right, with barely enough room for a VW Golf to fit between a number of buildings and the drop into the bay.
However, the difficulties on locating Konoba Kasar were completely justified once we located the restaurant.
The menu was just amazing, with such a wide range of seafood dishes that we had great trouble deciding what to select and experience.
We decided on three very different starters in order to share some of the delicious flavours. There was an amazing squid ink seafood risotto, salmon carpaccio and sardine fiollets in oil and capers.
Our main dishes were just as spectacular. We shared a mixed seafood platter, an amazing grilled octopus plate and a great dish of grilled calamari and local vegetables.
We washed down the food with some great local wine, and felt that the overall cost of such a luscious banquet was more than reasonable.
If you happen to be travelling to Dubrovnik, please do yourselves a favour and ensure that you have Konoba Kasar on your "must-do" list.
