Beautiful views

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 23, 2019
We stayed for 2 nights before our trip on Windstar. The views were spectacular. We got buffet breakfast with our room when booked which we suggest because breakfast is pricey. The lay out of resort makes you feel right away you are on vacation. I read some negative reviews. Yes carpets in hall can use some updating but overall beautiful resort close to airport. We dud day room on way back which included use of facilities, private transfer from boat and to airport and 3 course dinner. Definitely worth it. We are glad we didnt stay be dock bc it was very ruin down and dirty.

Best sweeping view of any island in Tahiti. The view of Moorea from the lobby is amazing. We finally spent more that just one night here, and had a great time. The lagoonarium is mature and stocked with fish, big and small. Nicely landscaped grounds. Very relaxing!

We stayed at the Intercontinental for two nights prior to a Paul Gauguin Cruise. The hotel is very close to the airport, and only a $12-15 taxi ride so a car is not necessary. Taxi to the center city is $15-20. The hotel is very nice, the grounds are beautifully maintained but the hotel itself is quite dated and in need of some repairs. We loved the Polynesian feel of the hotel, but the carpets are worn and some of the spaces are outdated. I would equate the rooms to that of a Marriott standard but not as an Intercontinental. Biggest piece of advise is to make sure you have the Breakfast Buffet included in your reservation. The food is great and well worth prepaying! The last thing was the staff, unbelievably friendly. We could not pass an employee, from the gardeners, to cleaning people, to pool people, to front staff, to management without a Hello, how are you doing, can i help you with anything. The staff made the stay from a 3.5 star to a 4 star. If they updated the hotel, It could easily be a 5 star.

Room tip: Get the breakfast buffet

We stayed here for two nights before a Paul Gauguin cruise. We arrived about 7 PM after our United flight from SFO. A taxi took 5 minutes to get here and check in was a breeze. We got upgraded to a larger room in a quieter location, which was very nice of the receptionist. She also gave us 12 pm checkout. After that we sat by the lagoo until it was time to leave for our cruise.

The room was lovely, bed was good, nice linens. We are Intercontinental members so got 50% off breakfast buffet for one time only. Buffet was varied with good omelets and lots of fresh fruit.

There were a couple of issues that weren't worthy of a 4 star hotel. One of our room keys stopped working and it took two calls to get a new one. Then the other key stopped working, and it took three calls to get a replacement. Also, we called for ice to be delivered to the room and it never arrived. Maybe they were super busy or maybe understaffed.

On the plus side, we loved tranquil location, the sand bottomed pool, and the beautiful landscaping. It was quiet at night and we slept very well. As for snorkeling, we didn't see much but didn't really expect to. We knew we would see much more in Moorea and Bora Bora.

I would not hesitate to stay here again and hope the key and staff problems get resolved.

Room tip: Rooms near the sand bottomed pool are quieter.

After two weeks in Mo'orea and Bora Bora in over-water bungalows, our single, pre-early-flight night at the InterCon was a little disappointing. Our room was super small and, though it looked as though it was partially updated, it was certainly old and worn. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the hotel grounds was beautiful. This is a HUGE hotel...if you're looking for a less-crowded experience, I can't recommend this place. If, like us, though, all you need is a single night to rest before an early flight, this was perfect. It's close to the airport, checkout was quick, and the ride to the airport was short and easy.

Room tip: If you're staying more than one night, skip the small rooms.

Okay for a quick stop before catching next flight in or out. We did not sleep all that well but were tired and slept better than we had expected since we got in late and caught an early morning flight to Bora Bora the next day. It will cost around $20.00 USD for a cab from the airport at night time to this hotel and then in the morning and day time it costs around $15.00 USD from hotel to airport. They have a weird charge per bag and passenger - there were two of us and three bags. Check in took a while because once the flights let out then a lot of people come here for the same reason. It is about a 5-8 min ride without traffic - morning took longer because of "rush hour" on a single lane road. All in all the room was not that bad and everything you needed but it does feel more like a Holiday Inn in general.

Room tip: They honored my status and gave me an upper floor with ocean view
