Reviewed September 5, 2013

Great stay at this hotel. Rooms are comfortable even if outdated. Hotel has great layout of facilities and staff are super friendly. Great food selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great happy hour with live music most nights. Would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to trying other Intercontinental hotels in the future!

We stayed here prior to a PG cruise. We had upgraded to an OWB.On arrival we noticed the room was musty and damp.Upon closer inspection we found the doors to be warped, holes in screens, and air conditioning that could not keep up with the humidity. We were immediately moved and at first glance this room was so much better. Then we showered and the bathroom became filled with water. After cleaning up noticed that was not the first time this had happened.Watermarks were on the walls and doors. They were very nice at the desk but that did not help.We can only say do not upgrade to the OWB stay in the main rooms we heard they were better.Do not expect much. They do have a wonderful show on Friday nights.

Room Tip: Stay in the main part of the hotel. The OWB have damage so they are not worth the upgrade price.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your review about our rooms. We have taken good note of your comments about your room's conditions and we apologize if the accommodation was not satisfactory to you. Over water bungalows need in fact a lot of maintenance due to their position and we thank you for your remarks which help us in identifying areas of concern.

We are happy to hear that you found our Friday night show wonderful, the aim is in fact to get our customers know Tahitian traditions!

We booked on our own pre/post PG cruise. Spent two nights before and had a day room after the cruise. It's a beautiful property. Our two kids (8 and 11) really enjoyed themselves in the pools. Before we arrived we had Teiva, the chief concierge, book us a 4x4 tour, which was great.
A few tips. The restaurants are excellent, the Poisson Cru was amazing, the drinks were great and the breakfast buffet is wonderful but very expensive. I'm a beer snob and they had a very good selection, even Belgians. If a breakfast included option is available go for it. Breakfast was around $50 per person.

There is a Carrefour about 10 minute walk from the hotel, they can point you in the right direction. It's a great way to stock up on snacks and get some inexpensive souvenirs, plus it gives you a bit of an idea how expensive it must be for locals. Carrefour is a giant store with not only the main store, but some other shops (I purchased a VINI sim card for my iphone which worked well and saved from paying the high ATT roaming charges for data). We also had lunch at the sit down restaurant which was surprisingly good.

If you book through PG cruises, they provide a tour before they take you to the hotel at the end of the cruise. My friends who did this didn't like the tour, but their rooms were ready when they got to the hotel. We had to wait about 1.5 hours before our room became available, which was ok given we weren't jet lagged. They allowed us to stay in the room until 10pm which allowed for a pleasant day at the pool, then a leisurely dinner. All and all I wouldn't hesitate staying here for a second. Tahiti and Papeete have lots to offer and it's worth staying a few days before going to the other islands.

The Inter-Continental was my first stop during my visit of French Polynesia. I spent 6 days there in all: 4 upon arrival and 2 before departure. Both stays were quite enjoyable. The welcome was warm, efficient, and I was quickly led to my beautiful room and comfortable bed on the 1st floor (beach level) for a much need rest after a thirteen-hour flight from Miami + four hours in LA.
The following morning I woke up to the sound of the ocean and headed for the restaurant. The best breakfast was waiting for me. Of the 3 hotels were I stayed on the 3 islands, this was without a doubt, the most complete menu, which included delicious fruits, freshly made yogurt and fromage blanc (my favorite), and traditional polynesian food! Also offered, for a price, the eternal bacon and eggs, pancakes, etc, for those whith big appetites.
Do not miss the bar scene at night. The Tahitians come here to have drinks and the music is not too loud: you can carry on a conversation. If you are lucky, you can also catch a typical polynesian dance show: a must!
I highly recommend this hotel if you plan to stay a few days in Tahiti. Very well located.

Room Tip: I stayed on the 1st and the 2nd floor, and the 1st is much better, for it is right on the beach. Al...

Dear Guest :
Thank you for choosing our Tahiti Resort on the occasion of your holidays in French Polynesia.
With theme evenings every week, the Tiare restaurant is the exclusive venue of the Tahiti Grands Ballets and is well-known for its wonderful Polynesian dinner dance shows. Our Tiki Bar is also well renowned for its musical animations. Thank you for pointing out these two assetts of our hotel and we hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back in the future.
Sincerely.

This property is very close to the airport, and 15-20 minutes from the main part of town.
The ocean views and the sunsets are amazing. The room and the bath were very nice. We only had two meals there, and the food was a bit expensive. The service was fantastic.
I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for over a week and had a great time. Hotel rooms are a little out dated, could do with an over haul. Fridge did not work adequately, they were very old. The pools were amazing which was more than enough to make up for it's short comings. View of Moorea Island was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Had a wonderful meal at the Lotus Restaurant, although very pricey, enjoyed every minute of it, with the fish swimming underneath the restaurant. Food in the main restaurant was adequate. Bath room was a bit dangerous for older couples as shower was over the bath, a bit difficult to manage to get in and out of. The Island itself was a bit disappointing as the infrastructure was not up to standard. Make sure you ask for a room away from the entertainment got a bit loud on occasions. If going back to this hotel would probably ask for over lagoon room.

Room Tip: Rooms on south side are quieter.

Dear Guest, Ia Orana from Intercontinental Tahiti and thank you for your nice comments.
Thank you also for recommending our Lotus Restaurant ; To our readers, the hotel’s overwater gourmet restaurant, Le Lotus, is located in a dream-like setting near the sand-bottom swimming pool, revealing a beautiful view of Moorea. In this elegant and intimate atmosphere, guests can enjoy our gourmet menus and Marc Haeberlin specialties, rated three stars by the Michelin guide.
Dear guest please contact us should you decide to come back, as we will be pleased to meet with you and ensure you had another perfect stay with us.

We have enjoyed staying at this resort several times while visiting Tahiti island. We recently returned and found our lagoon view room and the grounds to be very well maintained. The hotel has lovely views of the ocean and Moorea island. It's convenient to the PPT airport which is just a few minutes drive. The Carrefour supermarket is about a 15 minute walk and is a good place to pick up bread and cheese. The two swimming pools are large and attractive. The service was friendly and helpful - the hotel arranged a dinner reservation and a taxi for us and all arrangements were executed flawlessly. I just wish the bathroom had some more counter/storage space.
