Have you ever dived a fresh water spring in salt water? I had time for one day's diving in Tahiti before moving to Moorea and that was the site. Jean Carillo led our dive with appropriate attention to the dive plan and safety matters. Once in the water we were planned to swim a circuit of corals at depth. Current and visibility permitting the dive would then culminate with a pass by "The Source" or as named on the Web site, "The Spring" or site 8. As events developed we had great visibility at the spring and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Among other creatures we also saw a green turtle at a distance, white tip sharks swimming and resting on the bottom, and a lion fish hiding in a hole in the reef. There were numerous tropical fishes and colorful underwater scenery.
All equipment was available, well maintained and in good condition. NITROX is available at no additional charge for those who wish to dive NITROX.
If you are on a tight schedule and on the way elsewhere in French Polynesia this is well worth taking at least a day - or more - before proceeding to another island. Then watch the sunset over Moorea and enjoy the stories.
