My opinion is completly alligned with all the reviews. Everything was perfect. We stay 5 days in Villa Mandarina and the villa is wonderful in all the aspects, architectonically is amazing. The ubication perfect in a rural area very close to Chania and the most important beaches. The breakfast, with a dedicated chef, was a luxe and Despina is a special owner. We will never forget her help from the beginning. A big big thank you Despina.
Our stay at Villa Orangia, Conte Marino Villas, was first class. The villa and gardens/ pool are beautiful and practical. The space works, and the villa is beautifully airconditioned throughout so we slept well every night on lovely bedding/ pillows/ mattresses.
The location is great - there is a supermarket 2-3 minutes drive, Platanias is less than 10 min drive with a lovely beach and restaurants for lunch, and you can access the beautiful West and South coast beaches with a car. We had brilliant days at Elafonisi, Balos beach (via a private boat trip from Fallasarna) and Sfiniri, which is on the wild, rocky west coast but worth it for the fresh fish at Captain Fidaes's restaurant.
We also drove into Chania 6 or 7 times for dinner and we enjoyed it every time. Chania is a gorgeous, old, historical port with beautiful architecture and lots of fabulous restaurants. We ate outside and it was still warm at 11pm at night.
The Cretan style breakfast at the villa was a real treat - like staying in a hotel for the breakfast element, but having a private villa and pool the rest of the time. Wonderful fresh food, varied every day, with eggs, fresh fruit, freshly baked pastries, honey with thyme, mediterranean vegetables etc. All delicious! i am gluten and lactose free and alternatives for everything were provided.
Despina, the owner, could not have been more helpful. She took time to tell us of various things we could do to really discover Crete, and she was super helpful with all the covid requirements and printed forms needed. Nothing was too much trouble!
After a very tough year, this holiday was more needed than ever, and it delivered on every level. Great weather, beautiful accommodation, delicious food and beautiful beaches. We were sad to leave and would highly recommend it!
The villa ticks all the boxes; beautiful and spacious, well equipped, architecturally fascinating, perfect pool for dipping, efficient internet and aircon, lovely small garden. The situation is excellent, on a hill above the Meleme beach. There is a large modern supermarket nearby (2km). The beach is simple and clean, with lots of good bars and restaurants. The location is ideal for trips to the sights of Chania and the beaches on the West Coast. Lastly, the villa host, Despina, is very professional and super helpful, suggesting interesting excursions (including artisanal pottery classes!) and providing useful information to make your holiday special.
Fantastic house. It worked really well for larger family. Good location 25 minutes from Chania. Super host and hospitality.
The House is mordern and luxury. Everything uptodate. Great large pool. Clean, Nice garden.
Staff is very kind and friendly.
We spent a week at the Villa Orangia and enjoyed every minute of it. Despina is a wonderful host and get in touch with you beforehand and makes sure to meet every wish. She has amazing suggestions for dining, booking appointments and she even made all the calls necessary to find our lost luggage.
The Villa itself is a mix of modern architecture and traditional housing. You und everything you need. There is a great kitchen, we cooked a lot of meals and used the vegetables from the garden in the compound.
Breakfast ist individually cooked by Dimitri every morning which is a blast.
We plan to come back!!
