A lovely hotel on situated right on Lake Sarnen and in a good location for exploring such a beautiful part of the world. The Waldheim is tranquil, peaceful and perfect for relaxing. The welcome is very warm and friendly and the rooms have views of the lake and are very comfortable, clean and modern. Breakfast on the terrace in the morning was perfect way to start the day over looking the lake. We would highly reccommend this hotel to anyone travelling to the area.

The Waldhein Parkhotel is blessed with all the aspects necessary to have an absolutely perfect stay. The setting is fabulous - on beautiful Lake Sarnen and with an unhindered view of the mountains across the lake; clean, quiet rooms; excellent service always with a smile, 5-star dinners as well as ample breakfasts; and close to many hiking trails and other sites in the Central Alp region. The owners, Alexandra and Maurizio, have recently totally renovated the hotel, including the addition of many original works of art. We have been at the Waldheim before and have always found it a wonderful place to stay and relax. In short, the Waldheim Parkhotel is highly recommended fo all, at reasonable prices and excellent service.

Room Tip: Rooms on the lake side have a lovely view from their balconies. The half-board arrangement is excell...

Adequate parking just above the hotel but you can unload outside the door then park. No lift so if on the third floor make sure you are fit. Our room on the first floor was small but adequate as was the shower room. The double bed was 2 singles put together but with a 3 inch gap between. The views fom the balcony were chocolate box. Breakfast was the usual fayre and quite good. Dinner on the terrace also very good. The owner always emmed to be there- I do not think she ever slept. I do not know wether it was the grass or being a rural area (cows and farms etc) but there did seem to a lot of flies about in the hotel and outside.
Dissapointing that there were virtually no seats- as opposed to sin loungers- to sit in on the grass in front of the hotel so we could have a drink and chill. You do not always want to sit at tables on the terrace aka diing room

I last stayed at this hotel over 40 years ago with my parents and have come back to the recently rebuilt hotel with my family. My expectations were high and I was not let down in any way. The rooms are ultra modern with quality fittings, my wife and I had a lake view room and my two sons were in a park view room - both had great views. both rooms had a HD tv with memory card reader so we were able to view our holiday pictures on a big screen. The beds had memory foam mattresses and were very comfortable. The restaurant has panoramic views over lake Sarnersee, the food was excellent. Breakfast is buffet style with a fine selection of continental breakfast items. The staff were friendly and spoke english very well. The location of the hotel is ideal for visiting the Bernese Oberland and is 10 minutes from the nearest town - Sarnen and the motorway to Luzern or Interlaken. Highly recommended.

We had brought many groups here in the 1980's and 90's and never had a bad experience, and for other reasons, had used other hotels closer to Luzern. We brought a tour back here this year, and after 20 years, I remembered how utterly captivating this hotel can be.

The hotel is situated on a lake many international rowing teams use for practice - glass-like water, perfect for rowing. Not to mention, the scenery is indescribable. Swimming in the lake is perfectly acceptable. It is a family-owned hotel, having undergone 3 generations of owners. The current owner, Alexandra, is maintaining the hotel beautifully, and she has made some very nice upgrades since I was last there.

The hotel is located in Wilen, about 2 minutes drive from Sarnen, a nice small town. Sarnen is about 30-40 minutes (depending on time of day) west of Luzern. Travel into either town would be difficult without a car, and getting from the hotel property up to the road is a bit of a trek. It is a winding, downhill road approx. 1/4-mile, so winding that our Dutch bus driver had to back down the road. (He got a big round of applause for that one. Made it easy to leave, though.)

The rooms are impeccably-kept (typical of Swiss-German standards), the dinner and breakfast was wonderful, and again, you just cannot beat the lakeside view. There are 3 buildings, and each has similar configurations, so there is no real dropoff in quality from one building to the next. The main building has the best balconies I have ever seen.

We are already planning tours for next year, and we are already trying to figure out how to bring a tour back here. it is somewhat more expensive than an Ibis or a Mercure, but the personal touch and view are incomparable.

This is a family run hotel located in a perfect spot on the lake with a sweeping panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. You can take any meal overlooking this Swiss picture postcard from the terrace or the restaurant. Those brave enough can even take a dip in the lake.
The rooms are clean and well appointed many with the same beautiful view as the main hotel.
The family and staff are attentive and welcoming and will help with travel/sightseeing plans for the surrounding breathtaking scenery, mountain peak views or nearby towns such as Lucerne.
The restaurant meals are beautifully prepared and the presentation is exceptional.
A great place to unwind.
