Stayed at this hotel from 14th - 21st February 2020. The hotel is in a fabulous location but the rooms are very basic. My shower was cold most of the time. I did ask reception to sort this out but the situation didn't improve. Had no option but to go half board (even though I would have preferred to have just had Bed and Breakfast) but the food was absolutely disgusting. So much so, that after 2 meals in the canteen (wouldn't call it a restaurant) we decided to cut our losses and eat out. The bar is dead in the evening - probably due to the fact that they stop serving around 9pm. Such a shame when the location is so good but I would never stay at this hotel again.

We stayed there half board in February having no option for our choice for bed & breakfast. For goodness sake management why on earth are the evening meals so poor? Don’t you care about food? You should be ashamed. I've had much better meals in a Steel Works canteen in the 60’s. Also the so called restaurant is no more inviting than a down market food hall, just cheap chairs and tables, no ambiance and almost as uninviting as a factory shed. The evening meals were so poor that we ate out in local restaurants for much of our stay.
The hotel rooms are OK and the cleaning staff excellent. Reception on our arrival was very slow. Not sure why.
Be warned anyone who plan to stay in this hotel, do not have half board.

Parking is a problem with this hotel. Nowhere to drop bags off and find parking area. Had to trudge luggage quite a distance. Hotel looks great from outside in excellent location next to everything. Room fine but without sea view it’s just acceptable. Reception was moderate standard and not really felt welcome. Food mediocre.
Not my favourite hotel but liked parts of it. El Medano certainly worth a visit.

I am currently staying here. 7 nights in on a 9 day break.
Perfectly situated on the beach and in the sea. After reading all the reviews of how dated it is here, I disagree totally.
Okay there's no plush granite glossy black marble everywhere, but it is spotlessly clean bright and airy. The staff are so friendly, the setting is just perfect to relax. All week I've sunbathed on the terrace, until I was too hot, then walked down the stainless steel steps into the sea and climbed back up them to sun bathe again... Perfect. My mother and father, daughter and son in law are all staying on this break, el medano has everything for all of our ages, so we are all happy on hols.

Rooms are cleaned every day of you wanted.. . Cleaners are lovely ladies and all work very hard. I like to give them a break by not having them make my bed and change my towels every day.

One of the days, I walked over to the hotel sur tenerife.. Now this place is still internally set up in the 1960s. Not a patch on this one.

The only negative I can find with this hotel, is the food is not good at all. There's no love cooked into the food.. Being a chef myself I will always have a good go with any food, I couldn't make a meal up in This hotel unfortunately.
I would suggest booking just board or b and b.. Although the breakfast hot food selection isn't great either. Its such a shame, because the bar food served all day is fantastic, and cooked with love.
One more thing was there's no heating or air con.. Although the weather in Jan is just right.. 23 to 27 degrees we've had all week.

I would definitely return to this hotel.
Thank you hotel medano for making us feel welcomed.

We visited El Medano to meet up with friends and had a lovely stay at this hotel. The hotel and rooms were immaculately clean with plenty of space - we had a triple room with a full sized 3rd bed for our 16 year old son. Rooms were cleaned daily. Bathroom could have done with an update but nevertheless was very clean and toiletries were provided. We didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t speak for the food. Views from sunbathing deck are amazing and the hotel is very well placed, right on the beach and beside a range of bars and restaurants. Reception staff were very helpful. Check out was at 12 noon and a courtesy room was provided free of charge to allow us to have a shower before our late flight home. Would recommend.
