Room kept immaculately clean. Facilities in the hotel were excellent. Staff always had a smile and a hello. Reception staff were efficient and speedily helpful with requests. Breakfast was of a high standard and covered all choices, cold and hot. Evening meal hd sufficient choices to satisfy. Dining early I found to be advantageous. Location of the Hotel Medano is the selling point. It is directly over the sea and the sound of the ocean was wonderful. All around the hotel there were room specific lounge areas which gave privacy and a sense of special treatment. I had the luxury of a sea view balcony which made my stay. If you like sun, sand, wind surfing or kite surfing, water, fish dishes and local atmosphere then this is PERFECT!!

Room tip: East side rooms have the majority of sun. Staff said that the 5th floor had better rooms.

El Medano is an old hotel but really well maintained. The people are friendly and efficient. It is a 3-star hotel but has everything you’ll expect and in good/clean condition. For a 3-star hotel it has all 5/5 bubbles. The location is fantastic. It is on the water on the main beach of el Medano. El Medano itself is a small town. In 1 hour you have walked from north to south and back. But it has some shops and restaurants so it is sufficient. It looks like the time has stood still for the last decade which is a nice contrast to the very touristic playa de las americanas. Where you can find all the (British) tourists. If it is party you want you’ll have to go there. If you want peace and quite you’ll come here. And the hotel is most certain the best hotel in town. You can feel the grandeur of what the hotel used to be. And the staff do their best to keep that up. vintage but not out-dated is best to describe it. You have to love it.

Every day from 8am SUPER NOISY sounds of building/destroying something or whatever it was, ongoing until the evening. Few times I thought that someone will fall through the ceiling right into our room. We could hear it no matter where in the hotel we were. In return for that, we only asked for late check out (just to add 2 hours) and we were told that it is not possible for rooms at first floor (our).
After that we spoked with manager, who told us with attitued that normally people have to pay for late check out, but in this case, she can give us different room for free. Well thanks for that, but we didnt take it.... The reason why was because she told it like it was some super big favor from her. No apologize from her side for the TERRIBLE sounds, nothing. I guess it is normal here to go through reconstruction of more than half of hotel and say nothing about it to guests and even be suprised if some of them complain.

And meanwhile Im writting this review, they started to repair rooms right next to us.
I need vacation after this vacation...

There is no air condition in room and if you close balcony door to avoid noisy sounds from beach and street, the room will transform into sauna (even at night). Two nights in row happend that I opened balcony door and there was such a terrible smell outside.

Room
-small
-no air condition
-no fridge
-no bath tube or shower, something in between
-balcony with table and two chairs above beach
-two beds instead of one big, so always hole in the middle

Food
-breakfast: burned eggs, few times rotten vegetables, sweet bar was good
-dinner: overcooked meat

Staff
-friendly but kinda slow sometimes

Surroundings
- long beach perfect for water sports right next the hotel
- Montana Roja - nice view, very close
- no possibility to park a car in front of the hotel, but you can park in near streets
- great restaurants around
- we rented car for few days, no deposit, clean nice and new car for good price. While returning we just left keys at reception and that was it
- terrace with stairs to ocean only for hotel guests. You can sunbath here and have a drink or food

So I advice to choose a different hotel but I guess this will be the only options anyway, because based on the sounds I heard all week, the hotel is being torn down....

Great surprise with Hotel Medano in Medano at Tenerife South.
Spotless and fantastic staff.
The food was very good. Excellent value for money. We booked with booking.com.If we go next time, we will be booking independently.
The terrace and the steps going down to the ocean are to be highlighted.
So practical to go straight to the sea from the hotel. You avoid getting sand on your feet. Staff are always drying the wet areas. Very thoughtful.
People who use Hotel Medano are young and middle aged couples, singles and families.
We were very happy with our stay.
Planning to go again in the near future.

Our taxi driver took us here as , we unexpectedly could not get into the apartment that we had booked just outside El Medano . He booked us in and , we ended up staying here for 2 nights at , 70 pounds per room per night which , included breakfast . The latter was great with a good variety of hot and cold foods to eat ...impressive ! Our room was 307 and was small but , all we needed was a bed really plus , we had a balcony too overlooking the beach . Also on this floor , there is an additional area for guests to sunbathe . There is another area also on the ground floor ,Okay , the rooms are basic but you are at the centre of things with the beach on your doorstep plus , numerous bars , cafes and restaurants are nearby 1

Room tip: Have to ask for a sea facing room .
