Ok its a hostel, and you get what you pay for with hostels. This was the second visit after my first 12 months ago and it was as welcoming as the last.
I've stayed in some pretty good hotels that don't welcome guests as well as they do here. They take the time to explain how it works and are always on hand to offer advice about the island. I stay here when i arrive - do what I have to do and again when I leave, always a pleasure. If you make the effort to talk to people you'll meet some interesting folk, with tips and suggestions that will make your stay on the Island more rewarding. Clean, friendly, efficient and relaxing and one of the best. I shall return. Glen - Scotland

Room Tip: Book ahead.

This was such a lovely, unexpected surprise. The combination of calm, relaxed, organised tranquility was so welcome. All the staff were outstandingly friendly on arrival, and within hours I found myself out having tapas with 20 new friends....all organised by the hostel. The hostel has managed to achieve a communal vibe, which is also well thought through - from the goodwill arrangement for drinks and snacks, to the recycling facilities, clean pool and gym. Highly recommended.

Cheap and Cheerful! This hostel was much more than we expected. We were only here for one night as a place to crash on the way to airport. We chose it for price and proximity to airport... but when we arrived we found a great atmosphere, lovely outdoor chillout space, surf lessons, (small) swimming pool, instruments, all you can eat complimentary breakfast and friendly staff! We actually wished we were staying longer! The hostel puts on lots of activities which people can get involved in like Tapas nights, moonlight walks and communal meals. Lots of little details are thought of by the people who run the hostel, like the availability of bikes, snorkels, towels, earplugs and a tiny shop with essentials like beer and pasta. The only downside was that we stayed on a saturday night and the mixed dorm rooms were full of people going out partying, who then came back loudly at various different times. This would be a great place to stay if you want to party, meet interesting people and are happy with a communal atmosphere. If you want peace and quiet, I advise you to book one of the private rooms. This hostel is great for budget holidays, solo travellers and fun.

Room Tip: Dorm rooms are not for light sleepers

The hostel is packed of 'volunteers' working for the hostel and the treatment wasn't warm or familiar. Since it's a small place, I'm sure there's no need of having like 10 or more 'volunteers' working in there. Probably there's nothing wrong with it, but since they're walking around without doing nothing, some of them without even having a shower, I would say that's not a big deal. Once we get into the hostel at night and all of them remained looking at us as we walked in without saying nothing...that was very uncomfortable. Not a really clean place at all, but at least we could sleep well and I must say the breakfast was quite good.

Hello there.

First of all, of course thank you for an honest review.
We need to hear all opinions to adjust our flaws.

It is sad that we failed on this occasion this badly,
we are very sorry that your experience with our place wasn´t good :(

Now surely the number of workers shouldn´t have a negative value on us ;)

And to point that the part about -not showering- sounds really strange.
Because everybody here does shower :)

Of course we would like to have you again at our small place
and hopefully we could this time present the true spirit of Los Amigos :)
Which aims to create an enjoyable and memorable experience to everyone :)

Los Amigos is a very good hostel in a quiet location where peace and rejuvenation are top of the agenda.

Location: a little bit out of the way, but peaceful because of the location. 1km to nearest towm/supermarket. Easy walk and a near by bus stop, although I would strongly recommend care hire on the island -it has much to offer, both south and north, much more freedom than waiting for buses. Car hire works out cheaper than buses if you share between 2 or 3 people as well.

Hostel: in a villa house, well thought out design. There's even a small pool.
3 bathrooms (loo, shower, basin).
Dorm rooms have an individual light and power point on every bed (excellent!). Clean and bedding also clean. Comfortable.
Kitchen available to use, fully functioning, with fridge and cupboard space for guests. You can also join the staff eveming meal for a small cost.
Sitting area, outside, but covered, large and comfortable. Very social area. Personally I would prefer the smoking table to be more away from here. As a non smoker I found it smokey in the sitting area at times.
Nice mellow music playing.
Many of the rooms have a window onto this area so maybe consider ear plugs if you find a bit of chatting difficult to sleep through. It's not a party/loud hostel though.
Plenty of outside space.
Wifi - excellent connection. And a small pc to use. Printing available.

Staff: all volunteers (work in return for room and food), all friendly and get their work done to a good standard. There's a book of hints and tips for guests to look through. Bus timetables on the notice board.

Activities: usually something on each day or night. The owners join in for local tapas, to watch food ball or organise trips to sights like the mountain or masca.

Breakfast: excellent for an included hostel breakfast. Choice of cereals, bread, toast, spreads, cold meat, cheese, juice, tea and coffee. Best hostel breakfast selevtion I've had.

Really enjoyed the hostel. A few small changes (especially moving the smoking table, maybe providing drinking water in the price) and I would give 5*s

Would return for sure.

Peace and rejuvenation is what we´re all about!!

Thank you for your review and we will definitely look into moving the smoking table to make the outside more friendly for non-smoking guests!

You are always welcome to come back for another visit and hopefully we will see you soon!
Warm hugs from Tenerife :)
