When we booked this holiday we were looking for somewhere cheap for a quiet week away. But in the end we thought we would spend a little more to go All Inclusive and up the star rating and I am so glad we did.

This was the most wonderful holiday ever, this was probably helped by the time of year we went and the lack of other guests, there were deffinatly more staff than guests.

The most people we saw next to the "Heated" pool was 8 others, so you could wander down after a hearty breakfast and basically choose where you want to lie and spend the day in the sun.

The drinks were OK and if you fancied something not on the AI list then there were not to pricey. We never had to queue for anything and the chefs cooked whatever we wanted as we required it, and as much as we wanted!!!

The rooms were clean and like a decent hotel in the UK, a bit boutique style, we didnt have a sea view (£70 more) but had a nice view of the hill and because the sun was on the otherside the room stayed at a lovely temperature. The only issue we had was with the TV channels, we paid an extra 3 euros for English channels and they kept vanishing from out TV, and we had to keep telling Reception, it wasnt till the 4th day that they told up that they were running on a generator because the power station in the North of the island had been hit over 20 times by lightening, we didnt even realise and it has caused us no problems apart from the TV.

The location is OK for what we wanted, peaceful and quiet, we walked to Medano a couple of times and its about 10 to 15 minutes. there are quite a lot of bars, restaurants and shops and the beach is lovely, if a tad windy!

The hotel is only 6 mile from the airport and we pre-booked a private taxi which we paid £50 for, which I think is a bit steep, the cost would have been about 10-15 euros each way. Some people complain about the aircraft noise but it never bothers us and we would rather have a short transfer and be close to the airport than worry about a bit of noise!!!!!

I had my birthday while we were away and the staff placed a basket of fruit in our room, dont know how they knew, but it was a nice touch. Also for my birthday my partner got me a massage in the spa, a very invigorating experience, felt well pumelled after, but it was just what I needed.

Overall a great holiday in a lovely hotel with very helpfull staff, might be back next year?

Have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing week in this enchanting hotel.
Staff relaxed and friendly and the general ambience of the hotel is delightful.
Food is delicious and cooked to order.
Any problems we had were dealt with swiftly and courteously and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
Yes it is windy here but it is the centre for kite-surfing and sailbording for a reason ! And the off-shore breeze ensures an excellent tan!

This hotel is lovely, no complaints at all. Food was fantastic, rooms spacious and very modern, frontdesk and public areas stunning. The pool area was great, plenty beds etc and pool was great. Food and drinks were great, very much 5*.

Only thing we didnt like was the lack of atmosphere (but perhaps just down to time of year). There were only 10 other guests staying at the time, and we were very often the only people in the resturant. Location isnt ideal either, nice walk along the sea to the town, but town is small and not much to do.

All we wanted was a quiet week chilling with good food and drink; its was PERFECT for that. If however you are looking for a busy hotel with loads of things to do, then its perhaps not ideal.

Highly recommended by us!

Stayed at Arenas del Mar, middle of Nov. 2008. The hotel is new,(opened March 2008 I believe) so all facilities are in perfect order.

Pleasant and friendly staff, but I think they are not well tuned in to guests needs as in some aspects of service they seem to go their own way. For instance, there were never any cereal spoons available at breakfast. We always had to ask a member of staff for some. Same again Next morning. They never seemed to learn. Only a small thing i know, but a niggle nevertheless. We had to chase the housekeeping staff twice to have the showergell dispenser refiled.

Also the aircon was too cold. Only after some guests complained was something done about it.

Otherwise we had a good stay. Rooms excellent, food also, (but not much choice), & pool area good.

That brings me to the hotel location. On a headland at El Medano is not the best place to be, trying to get some rays in mid november when the wind gets up.

However, niggles apart, we would go again.

I have just returned from a week at the Arenas del Mar. It was 2.30am when I arrived at the Hotel and was pleased to check in without a hitch a - cold meal had also been left in the restaurant for my husband and I, but we did not take up the offer. Even so the night porter insisted we had a large bottle of water and fruit before taking our luggage to our rooms for us.

We had booked a Junior Suite with sea view and was not disappointed. The room was modern, cosy and roomy with a great view over the pool and out to sea. There were plenty of sockets to use, and the hairdryer was modern and powerful. It had a modern flat screen tv, but we had to pay 3 euros a day to use it.

The hotel was new and modern with a view over the town and the Atlantic. Unfortunately, there was some building work being carried out near the hotel and the view was blotted by 3 large cranes. Also El Medano is very close to the airport and you do get the noise (and sight) of aircraft that have just taken off.

The hotel was not full, therefore sun beds were always available, the restaurant was quite and you had no problem with service at the bars. We had gone to have a quite relaxing holiday with good food and that is what we got, although we were not that impressed with the all inclusive alchohol choice which was restricted and not as good as other hotels we have been to. The food was excellent and cooked to order, although not a great range as we are used to, but we still enjoyed it.

The nearby town was typical Spanish and had great character, but no shops. We did all our shopping at the airport.

The sun bathing area was really lovely, but was too windy to sit in the open areas, but you could find shelter by the table and chair area if you wanted to.

We really enjoyed our stay and found the staff excellent (especially Pablo in the bar), but our one critisism is that everything is shut down, with lights off at 11.45pm ,and if you wanted a night cap and a quite chat to friends after this time there was nowhere to go.
