“good hotel in quietlocation”

Reading previous review I have to confirm that the hotel does look like a multi storey car park but the inside is clean, pleasant, quiet and comfortable. The staff seemed to get friendlier the longer you stayed. The food was of a quality I would expect from this standard of all inclusive hotel. As usual the food could be hotter but you find this a lot in warm countries.. The hotel is only 15 minutes from the airport (about 15 euros by taxi), but the planes did not bother us. El Medano is a 15 minute stroll along the promenade and has a lovely little beach, bars and restaurants and a few local gift shops. The bus to Los Christianos cost 9.20 euros for the two of us return and took 45 minutes. Overall a good holiday with lovely weather

This was our first holiday together so we wanted it to be romantic and special which is kind of what we got, although whilst we were there it just felt like there was something missing. The hotel Areanas del Mar, stated that it was quiet and that was exactly what we got, so most days and evenings were very boring and we ended up just going to bed.
All the staff were very welcoming and made you feel at home and most of them could speak good English, There isn't much you can do in the hotel or in the village apart from taking part in some activities with Richard who was very nice and always seemed cheerful, we walked into the village on most days, but there aren't that many shops, mainly for surfing. its great if you like hiking as there are lots of mountains and volcano's which we recommend because the views are spectacular. The zoo Loro Parque is deficiently worth a day out as-well, very pricey so bring lots of change.

The hotel is very clean, a few things in our room could need updating as they were very rusty and the outside of the hotel would look alot nicer if it was painted.
The food was nice although we didn't think that there was alot of choice, but very clean and nicely laid out.
The beach has black sand and there's not much of it really, we couldn't go swimming in it as there was lots of rocks everywhere, further up the beach there are kite-surfers which are really cool to watch.
We stayed for one week and went all inclusive, But we were very shocked to find out that most of the things you had to pay separate for....You had to pay to use the spa and indoor pool which is okey when your bored but not worth 18 euros, You don't get ice-cream included or hardly any drinks either, and your only aloud one bottle of water per person which is terrible when your going on a trip or leaving.
Also I advice being very careful when you go out for walks in the cooler parts of the day as there were occasions when we were chased by stray dogs near our hotel, which was very scary as we didn't know if they had rabies or anything.
This hotel is great if you want a relaxing, very quiet and walking.

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor, room 324, which was facing the mountains and part of the sea, great lo...

Ive just got back from arenas de mar the hotel looks like a prison from outside.the rooms were lovely but lacked a kettle the entertainment was of poor quaility i felt like i was in a nursing home entertainment finishes at 11pm everynight.there are a few tapas in el mandano but are mainly used by locals.spa treatments are expensive at areans and a taxi to los christiano will cost you €30 each way the food was ok at the hotel but 4 days at arenas were long enough for me ideal if u just want to completely chill out and sit by the pool.our hotel to airport transfere never turned up so had to get a cab all in i feel it was a nice hotel but quiet expensive for what u got and the wind isnt as bad as id expected from reading others comments

Hello, we stayed for 9 nights, end of September - beginning of October and we were very happy overall. I kindly recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to have a clean tidy room, amazing view on the sea (especially mornings and evenings), good services (they cleaned and changed bathroom stuff every day), nice and very helpful people in all the areas of the hotel: reception, restaurant, spa and bars. Is a peaceful place to be after a long day on the sea or trips along the country, to us gave the feeling of being both at home and in holiday, we found the peace and silence we desired and also the holiday feeling. Doesn't feel like any other commercial place, has something special which we appreciate a lot.
I recommend strongly the swimming pool area and if you are lucky or around the hotel when they organise water polo go for it, is a great fun, an hour of swimming, laughing and feeling good. The water is always warm - for this i would give them a 5*, also to appreciate is the sea water in the pool, which is far more healthier than the usual pools water treated with chemicals.
Reception stuff are well trained people and not only good professionals but with a high common sense, they helped us plan the holiday, book trips all over the island, suggested places to go and things to do, very warm and always ready to help.
Next year for the kite surf training we will chose the same hotel to accommodate us.
All the best!

Room Tip: Large room, large bed, nice living room, with balcony, i recommend rooms with sea view!!! Is a delig...

We stayed for 10 nights, the hotel was beautiful and all the staff were very friendly. The food was excellent. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who want's a quiet and relaxing holiday. Myself and my husband will be going back next year. Can't wait. We had a mountainside view and the room we had was excellent. The only thing I will say is the rooms have twin beds, as this is now an adults only hotel I would recommend that they change there beds to doubles or kingsize as it is mainly couples that use the hotel. Special word the Entertainments Manager Richard he does a brilliant job and he really made us laugh carry on the good work.

Don't believe the bad reviews! We stayed here for the first week in October and what a fantastic hotel. The room was extremely spacious and very clean, we had a mountain view but that was not a problem. The pool was also very clean and warm, I have always experienced freezing cold pools in the Canaries but this one was an exception. The spa looked nice but you have to pay extra to use it so we didn't bother. The guys at the pool bar were very friendly.
The restaurant was again very clean and the food well presented and freshly cooked, there was an excellent choice every day. The bar was ok and the outside terrace perfect for chilling after a day by the pool or on the beach. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
We would definitely recommend a walk into El Medano town, the market on a Saturday is good fun and had some lovely stalls and was right next to the beach which is beautiful. We enjoyed swimming around in the surf and watching many kite surfers and windsurfers. The bars are all lovely and it is not at all touristy, the locals all use the beach and bars at the weekend and we really felt like we were in Tenerife rather than an English tourist resort. We did do the half day excursion up Mount Teide which was really interesting although the cable car was shut due to high winds.

All in all this was a real holiday away from it all. If you after a lively holiday then it probably isn't for you but if you really want to get away from it all this is ideal.

This hotel easily deserves 4 stars. We stayed AI and found excellent food and friendly service. The best outdoor pool we have experienced (warm and clean). The room was good, with an abundance of lights and power points. Our only criticism would be a lack of sunshades, made worse by the clientele ("towel reservists") whom emerge at first light. Yes you know who you are!!! So be warned and set your alarm if you need a sunshade. The entertainments manager "Richard" is an amiable chap who will not be to insistent if you do not want to be involved in the organized activities as we were not.

Room Tip: Junior suite
